"Avoid: Hidden Pricing"
There are MANY wonderful hotel options in this neighborhood at this price point. Kimpton's Rouge could be one of those. Great location, spacious and comfy rooms, mostly excellent staff. However, beware: Rouge adds a "destination charge" for rooms booked on Hotels.com. That means once you have pre-paid your room here, the hotel charges you $17.18 to check in. You are FORCED to pay this fee. The only way to avoid the fee at checkout is to sign up for their loyalty program, which feels like extortion. This is the first time in the world (I travel on average 200 days a year) I have encountered such a fee. They do "give" you upgraded Internet, which is actually painfully slow. But had I wanted Internet, I would have paid for it. And been fine with that. The problem is that they force you to pay this fee and neither Hotels.com nor Rouge adequately discloses it. It should figure into the price quoted here. There are GREAT options like DuPont Hotel, Palomar, Fairmont, etc. all in this neighborhood which were only $20 more at my time of booking. I try to be prudent and thought I would save a little and try a new property. However, I didn't end up saving anything and left feeling like I had been robbed.

"Good deal"
We spent 2 nights in a king room that was very spacious. The bed and office chair were very comfy and the room was clean. The hotel is more than adequate as a place to sleep and be in town for recreation or business. The negatives are minor - lounge chairs in the room looked really cool and go with the decor but were really uncomfortable. The lobby seems a bit run down. We are familiar with Kimpton in DC but this property seems like it needs an update.

The hotel was great. Very clean throughout, spacious room. I enjoyed my stay. The only negative was that there are no vending machines and the nearest convenience store is a few blocks away. They offer a mini bar but, it is way expensive. Other than that, it is a great hotel.

"Just okay"
Not bad, but also not the best kimpton I've stayed in. Definitely older, a little run down, lobby was small with few amenities. Rooms were definitely clean and tidy. Also no dedicated concierge so front desk staff were supposedly trained for it, but found them to be overall unhelpful. Also no restaurant other than the bar.

"We'll be back"
We had a booking error (my fault) and suster Kimpton Hotel helped us find Rouge in the fly. Lived the hitel in general but elevators are slow and small and few. Room was comfortable but rug and bathroom showed signs of age. Staff was WONDERFUL. Amenities are GREAT! There was a domestic dispute in a neighboring room that escalated and sounded violent, but one call to the desk rectified the situation. Will return.

"Lovely staff!"
Staff is great! Room is fantastically tacky, just like the pictures. We arrived really early for check-in and they were able to accommodate us with a room on the 1st floor, I was nervous that it would be too loud then I remembered that I live in NYC and nothing can be as loud as my neighbor who plays Motown at 5am. Bed was comfortable and the room was clean. There is a wine tasting hour in the evening and coffee and cold pizza in the morning. I will definitely be staying here again!

pretty quiet and close to restaurants and not far from Metro. beware of extra hotel fees not included in Hotels.com cost. as well parking is over $50 a day. nice small bar. breakfast in bar is pretty expensive for what you get. but overall nice place to stay.

"Disappointing"
worst Kimpton Hotel that I have stayed in. Hotel is very old and needs work. Hotel staff was not helpful, especially when I asked which direction to walk to get a good meal and which direction to run to have a scenic trip. One elevator wasnt working. FOX and NBC did not work on the TV which bothered me because I wanted to watch a NHL playoff game. Overall, disappointing stay

Absolutely perfect! It was my son's graduation weekend from Johns Hopkins and it was so convenient to Georgetown where he lives and to the Graduation at DAR Convention Hall. Staff was helpful with directions and cab service. Great coffee!

Great location. Only a 20 min walk from the metro. Very friendly and helpful staff. Room was clean and ok setup. Appears to be a room that can be changed to a conference room which resulted in an awkward setup. Bed was not that comfortable. Overall 4 stars

"Huge room!"
I've never stayed in such a big hotel room! A wonderful boutique hotel with quite the retro charm. Very clean rooms and responsive staff (I called down to get a shower cap and it arrived in under 5 minutes). Some rooms are pet friendly. If I had to list any negatives, it would be that it's not too close to a Metro station (about a 10 minute walk), and that there was more road noise at night than I was expecting, especially for the street it is on, which doesn't have heavy traffic.

"Kimpton Rouge, Washington, DC"
I have had good experiences with the Kimpton chain, and Rouge is a very nice little boutique hotel. The rooms are large, although a bit dark. The air conditioner wasn't all that effective as it was a wall unit that left half the room warmer than the other, although it wasn't so uncomfortable that I would have asked to change rooms. The one downside to the hotel is the lack of services for food and drinks, as the restaurant has limited opening times. Otherwise though, it is conveniently located and the staff were very helpful.

"Quirky Hotel - Spacious Rooms"
I actually live and work in DC but treated myself to a hotel stay during our huge board meetings, so I was familiar with the hotel already. I was shocked at how huge my room was. The only thing I had a problem with was no in room coffee pot. They had free coffee and tea in the lobby, but I like a nice cup while getting dressed, and that would be a tad embarrassing in front of everyone else staying there.

Minimum 50 characters? Mandatory? Hotel was fine, in a nice central downtown location. Rooms are large, at least the two I saw. Very clean. Quiet from dark until 0700. There was a good AM coffee service, and the PM wine 'happy hour' was good too. Friendly pourer; plus snacks were available. I have zero negatives, and will consider The Rouge first on my return to DC.

"Dogs friendly hotel"
We stayed this hotel for five nights during spring break. It was a pleasant stay. There is a Whole Foods and good restaurants 2 block away from the hotel. To the metra station,Farragut North and Farragut West, it's 6mins walk. Not too bad. Our room is specious and has everything we needed for. During 5-6pm, you can enjoy free wine at the hotel lobby. We would recommend this hotel everybody.

"Unique decorations"
This is one of Kimption hotle in DC area. Have to move to this one because the other one is sale out. This hotel is far from subway, about almost mile walk. Not many store around. Room is very unique decoration. Service is a bit cold.

"Weekend in DC"
The hotel is in a nice and quiet location, 15min walk from the White House, 30 from 7th street. Everyone was friendly and professional and the room was comfortable. The bathroom was really tiny, though.

A fabulous hotel with an excellent location -- beautiful street and close proximity to retail, restaurants, and two Metro stops. The bed was incredible, and my sleep made even more perfect by the pillows. The complimentary evening wine reception, morning coffee, and choice of newspapers were much appreciated, too. All that plus great service and the incredible rate I got will definitely mean a repeat visit!

"Bach Party"
It was great! We had a little bachelorette party there and everyone had a great time! Unfortunately, the fridge was full of stuff and mildly warm so we couldn't put any of our drinks in there. But other than that we had a great time.

"Surprized dogs were allowed"
Didn't realize this hotel allowed dogs. While there was no problem with odor/cleanliness in the room, guests left their dogs and went out for the night resulting in barking dogs. The front desk was responsive, but not much they could do until the owners returned.

"Good location but room could use an update"
My family of three stayed for four nights at Hotel Rouge. The location is excellent. There are nice design touches, but our room was fairly beaten up--scuff marks, nicked furniture, etc. Kimpton has done a nice enough job of turning an old apartment building into a hotel, but it didn't feel as special as other Kimpton properties. I'm a Kimpton Karma rewards program member, so I got free wifi while there--but the hotel would not honor its "raid the minibar" program since I booked through Expedia (lame, if you ask me). The nightly wine happy hour was pleasant--decent wine and as much as you could drink and sweet potato tater tots. The staff was friendly but not overly so. For the price, I'll probably stay elsewhere on my next visit to DC.

"Check your door locks"
Deadbolt was jammed. Needed to call an engineer on this -- shows that they aren't routinely checking their security measures. Also there was a bug in the bathroom. Otherwise, room/experience was fine, but I probably wouldn't stay again.

Hotel rogue is a great hotel. I really enjoyed my stay. The staff is very helpful and informative. Checking in was simple and quick. As far as parking goes there is not a lot and hard to find. Overnight valet is $50 and day parking is $25. The hotel itself is very clean, the hallways smell like cleaning products, which is a good sign. The rooms are very spacious and the beds are very comfortable. The food is great as well, pricey but worth it. As far as touring and attractions your within walking distance of food and things to do except most museums. Overall I really enjoyed my stay. I would recommend hotel rouge to anyone.

"Quirky Decor, Pleasant Hotel"
Good location within easy walking distance of Dupont Circle. The rooms are spacious and clean. The decor is a bit garish for my taste: Hotel Rouge takes its name seriously with lots of red all over and tiger striped carpets.

"Great Customer Service"
I was rushing to get to an event on Saturday evening, and couldn't get Uber to connect. Panic-stricken, I went to the lobby and a woman standing next to the happy hour bar asked how my day was going. I said "Terrible I'm going to be late for this event because I can't get an Uber!" Within 30 seconds she had called the guy to get me a cab. I made it to the event on time thanks to her! Cameron (?) at the front desk was great too - even asked me "what type of room I preferred" (meaning high floor, lower floor, front or back of house, etc...

"Great Stay"
The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that it took a really long time for them to bring our bags up to the room. Had to ask several times and it still took over an hour. Otherwise, great wine hour, service and room.

"Fun Boutique Hotel in great location"
Hotel Rouge was amazing! Got to check in early, free bloody marys, pizza, and cocktails in the lobby at different times too. Valet Parking was super easy. Room was very cool and loved the robes. Definitely my kind of place! We got a great deal too for the location.

"Solid"
Hotel's fine for short business trips. Gym is tiny as heck. Some Kimptons offer a continental breakfast, this one just offers coffee and tea. Neighborhood is decent, but nothing is right there. Have to walk a few blocks to find any decent coffee shops or restaurants.
