I was rushing to get to an event on Saturday evening, and couldn't get Uber to connect. Panic-stricken, I went to the lobby and a woman standing next to the happy hour bar asked how my day was going. Just a quick 2-night stay in the city (Washington, DC) to get away. The photos on the web site make the hotel appear to be an upscale, new-looking place. A friend and I were in town for a concert. The hotel was about 3 miles away from the concert. We did not pay for valet being that it could run you $50 per night. We were able to find street parking. THey had a complimentary wine in the evening however we werent able to enjoy it being that we were pressed for time. You will have to pay a "hotel fee" - which gives you access to wifi - and is not optional. It costs an extra $15 plus tax to your room rate. So don't be surprised. "Stay at any other near by name brand hotel"
This Hotel really fell short of our expectations. The photos make it look really nice but in actuality it's pretty shabby. The first room we checked into looked like it had been rode hard and put away wet. We asked for a new room but apparently the hotel was over booked. Fortunately, they had one other option which was better but faced the backside […] of the building. The second room didn't look so used and was much cleaner but viewed a parking lot. I preferred the bad view to the haggard dirty room. This hotel seems to be an old apartment building but not in the cute historic way that has been converted in to a hotel. it looks like Kimpton did a cheap renovation an threw in some modern decor but it wasn't enough to get this situation together. The one saving grace for this hotel is the service is very excellent and the employees seem to be dealing with a lot of under-satisfied guests, yet are still EXTREMELY nice and accommodating. We had reserved a king bed with a daybed. We we arrived they told us that they had upgraded us to a king with bunk beds the room was perfect since we had our 14 year old daughter with us and it gave her her own space. We weren't in the room much, but it was a nice hotel. Valet was a little pricey, but worth it in that area. Staff was very courteous and it was a pleasure to stay there. "Ok hotel for one night"
I thought the hotel was okay. We arrived quite late and found the overnight crew to be a bit brash. Our room was clean but the hotel is showing signs if wear...some of the lights in the hall looked like they were falling apart and some of the doors looked old. When I checked in, the desk lamp was not working. I called the front desk and someone showed up immediately. The front desk gave out a voucher for a glass of wine at their bar for free as a welcome. In room safe is handy. They even have an umbrella in the room for you to use. Bed is comfortable and pillows are two types, in case you prefer one to the other.
