"OK accommodation near Central Station"

Service was sublime - nothing was too much trouble. Beds we're comfy, the toiletries good quality and the room size generous. Breakfast included the usual fare but beautifully presented and cooked. This hotel was very much a ordinary hotel with the Novotel badge. The room air-conditioner sounded like a 747 landing constantly. The re-fit out was ugly and not even having a power-points both sides of the bed (it is 2014). There was rust around the drain pipe, the sheets were not 100% clean. In a great location walking distance to theatre. Comfortable bed. But room had a bad damp sour smell in it. Told front desk on checkout & they waived our parking fee. Check in & Check out we're EXTREMELY slow never been to a motel where it has been that slow. "Needs some updating"
We have stayed here many times ,mainly because they have double double rooms for a family of four. It's in a good location and has always been good value. These things haven't changed but I now find it is getting a little run down and probably needs a bit of a facelift. If you are reading this novotel, a couple of easy suggestions would be to put sheers […] (curtains) in the rooms, we have a room facing a block of units and was face to face with a semi naked man most of the time, so we needed to have the room blacked out all the time. The location is good, close to China town. The room is old, the toilet seat not even line up properly and has yellow mark on it. The floor is not mopped everyday. Coffee & tea are not refilled. We stayed for 5 nights I this hotel. It is very near to Central Station, only 5 min walk and is good value for money with an excellent breakfast included. "Never again! Fawlty towers!!"
Travelled with elderly father, booked two rooms, gave us rooms on different floors! Had requested twin beds in one room, gave us king bed. Apart from a central cabinet and one armchair there was no chair or tables in the room which had heaps of empty space to spare. To get into the tiny shower you have to hook yourself over the toilet because some genius […] had designed the layout without any common sense. Rooms were not cleaned despite being available for the entire day, we had to chase down the housekeeping staff who were harried and overworked to clean our rooms at 5pm!!! We ordered one room service breakfast two got delivered, bread with no butter or spread!! The location is also not one of Sydney city's best, run down area not close to city centre, loads of construction going on all around. This property does not deserve its 4.5 star rating, if anything it is not even 4 star. The experience has certainly put me off all Novotel properties. Having stayed at two other Novotel hotels, Perth and Canberra, there was an expectation. Add to that the rate per night, I expected more. The room was average, the bathroom was very small. The shower was hopeless, basically running around trying to get wet whilst battling with the hot and cold tap constantly.
