Pricey breakfast spread includes smoked trout and salmon, omlettes made to order, a dozen types of cheese, tomatoes (raw or grilled with cheese), breads and sweet rolls, cereal and yogurt, bacon and sausage, and (drumroll!) Sacher Torte with whipped cream (and all the other Sacher Cafe pastries) for breakfast! Tip: pay to join the Leader's Club for best rates, free breakfast, free room upgrade, plus fruit/, torte, bottled water, chocolates as a greeting. My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Sacher in Salzburg on a stop-over night from Vienna to Munich. It was lovely. The doorman made an effort to remember our names, the concierge gave great restaurant recommendations and the decor and interior were haute regal, our favorite. Perfectly positioned and we were arranged within a pretty kept room with a scenic corner view of the river. The restaurants and lounges on site were also nice. Although they were out of beluga caviar, we did enjoy salmon caviar, bellini's and peaceful relaxation to the pianist our last evening.

Excellent. Location is the best. Staff are excellent. The only negatives were the slow service in the Cafe Sacher (they need more staff in there) and some repeated menu items at both the Cafe and the Grill restaurants. However, we would definitely recommend this hotel and will stay there again.

The hotel is located very conveniently to the old town and sits right on the river. Taxi from train station is about 10 minutes. Hotel will book all your tours including the Mozart dinner which is very enjoyable. Shopping is also very near-by from the hotel. Restaurants are very good as well.

Hotel has old European Elegance qualities and is located right in the heart of Salzburg. Many great places to see and all are within walking distance. Staff is helpful, but not overly friendly. I would recommend this hotel to a couple, but would be hesitant to stay with children.

Totally picked this hotel at random and completely lucked out. It's a beautiful 'old world' hotel. Complete with creaky wood floors. Perfect timing for our visit - the hotel was decorated with beautiful Christmas lights and a giant tree in the lobby. Fabulous location - just 5 minutes walk across a bridge to fabulous Old Town Salzburg. We were greeted […] the moment we stepped out of the taxi. The concierge gave us a brief tour of the lobby and restaurants before bringing us up to our room. She even took the time to mark things down on our map for us. We were also welcomed with a goodie plate of their famous Sacher tortes (mini ones) and various chocolates. Yum! The only 'odd' occurence was when we wanted to purchase the "Salzburg Card" (to get us into the multiple museums and use transportation), the guy insisted that we pay cash, and that there was a service fee on top of it. Well, we didn't have that much cash on us yet, so he gave us the cards and told us we could pay later - but to look for him. As it was, we stayed out late, and when we came back, the guy was off shift. We asked the new person at the front desk about paying for the cards and were offered the options of paying by cash, credit card or charging it to the room. No service charge. What the hell was that all about? Looks like someone may have be trying to make a little extra off their guests. I'm sorry, but that's what it added up to for us. Other than that, Hotel Sacher is beautiful, charming, and couldn't be in a better location. The end to our perfect trip was a small snow storm. We danced around in the snow for a short time outside, and then retreated to our room to watch the world turn white from our window. Read more

While everyone on the staff was exceptional, a few stand out and warrant special mention. On the Front Desk they were attentive, considerate, friendly and thoughtful. From the time we checked in till our last day five days later, one concierge in particular was more professional and caring of our needs and whims than any hotel employee we have ever known. He is a treasure and I hope he is as appreciated by his employer as he is by his guests. And not to forget the reservations manager who patiently answered every email question in the weeks leading up to our stay with prompt and courteous attention. Very nice hotel in great location - just a few steps across the bridge to the Altstadt. The room was very clean and quiet and bed was comfortable. Just about everything you would want to see as a tourist in Salzburg is within walking distance. The staff was very helpful and courteous. Only negative was the steep price for the continental breakfast - we paid 29 Euros or nearly $40 USD per person - we were a bit surprised by this.
