"Great hotel, great staff"
My girlfriend (now fiancé) and I stayed at Casa Munras the night we became engaged (and the night after). I alerted the lady at the reception area I was going to pop the question later in the evening. We headed out and when we arrived there was a bottle of champagne and two glasses waiting for us upon our arrival into our room. We were both speechless. […] The staff went above and beyond. From that moment forward, my fiancé and I both decided anytime we are in the area we are definitely staying at Casa Munras. The staff was beyond great, the room was excellent and the overall experience was second to none. Thank you!!! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Nice hotel, but ridiculously priced on special weekends, like all the local hotels in Monterey.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Would recommend to friends"

"Casa not bad"
Staff were helpful but put us in the wrong grade of room but they compensated us without much of a struggle I would stay here again but it wouldn't be my first choiceGenuine Expedia guest review
Great location. Easy walk to downtown Monterey and Fisherman wharf. Denny's and gas station across the street. Pool was heated and nice. Rooms were clean but kind of old. Needs some modernizing. Overall, nice hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Quality and convenient location"
Had a great stay at Casa Munras. Great location, good pricing, and convenient for short walks to the wharf and restaurants. Definitely would go back again. Loved the large room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This is an old hotel that was remodeled/upgraded/enlarged, and is attractive and modernized. Unfortunately, the older portion of the rooms still have very thin walls. Our room was about 5-6 rooms from the outdoor bar area, and was very noisy even with all windows & bathroom door closed. Also we could hear EVERYTHING happening in the rooms next door. […] If you want to stay at this hotel ask for the newer, second level, rooms. Other than that the service was efficient and friendly. "A lot better on the inside than it looks ooutside."
Rooms have been redone, very clean, comfortable and modern. Hard to find entrance with construction next door. Staff super helpful and friendly.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Smaller than expected"
I was told we were in a "Queen Cottage" when we checked in. It appears we were in the very oldest section of the hotel. The room was very small with signs of age. The bed was very comfortable, but contained only one double bed. I had booked with Expedia for the discount where the name of the hotel is not revealed until booking. It guaranteed accommodations […] for 2 people but not the type of beds. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Worth a stay!"
We loved the Casa Munras. The Hotel was clean, the beds were comfy and the location was in excellent proximity to everything we wanted to do. The staff was helpful. Overall, a relaxing stay. We will definitely stay at the Casa Munras on our next visit.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Needs a good cleaning."
The carpet was so dirty that our socks were black. The toilet backed up so we had to use another facility. The room was soo hot and there was no cooler.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel, small rooms"
Hotel is very nice. Rooms are a bit small. Pool is centrally located. Although we didn't take advantage of it, I liked the fact that hotel offered complimentary movies from their library. Their in-house restaurant offers a relaxing outdoor eating area with a fire pit. It was definitely the best value for our buck. We purchased rooms through hotels.com. "Cute historic hotel in great location"
The property is super cute and beautifully landscaped. Everywhere you turn there are new flowers. The pool is great for kiddos, but I certainly wouldn't want a room facing the pool due to the noise. There is no air conditioning in this place, so just be aware. They will give you a fan if you ask for them. Overall, we really enjoyed this hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Not worth the money"
Started with poor service - arrived at 3 pm and room still not ready, created keys for wrong room and sent us to wrong location. All one way streets in maze of hotel buildings so had to drive back to entrance just to get to room. Carpet stained in the room. While we knew there was no AC there are only windows next to front door - no other windows so […] no air flow at all. Asked for a fan, front desk would only give us one. Bellman was nice enough to give us a second small fan. Even above the noise of two fans it was till VERY noisy as walls are thin and lots of noise in parking lot. We thought downtown would be a good place but a block away from transit center meant a lot of people hanging out in the streets, very few restaurant selections. Last night we were awakened at 1130 pm when a group of about 20 arrived and started yelling at each other in the parking lot. When I reviewed all our issues at the desk on checkout of course she apologized and offered us a bottle of wine... then went to get it and discovered they were out - perfect ending. "Bring your pet!"
SOOOOO Pet friendly! Not many hotels allow pets, let alone let you keep them in the room if in kennel/cage. This explains the $50 pet fee. ALSO: SOOOOO comfortable! The beds were some of the best I've slept on! Staff was great! Parking and location were perfect! - 1 star because my girl friend read they donate the pet fee to the local SPCA but the […] desk couldn't verify that. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Cute/Quaint but never again."
I thought that the front desk staff was unbelievable rude and not very professional. Completely fake and on auto pilot. The two ladies got into an argument while they were checking us in and could not handle the "pressure" of multi-tasking. I thought it was an anomaly, but when we needed assistance the next day the gentleman at the desk was just as […] rude. Coming from the hospitality field as well, they need some work. Especially if they are the first encounter for guests. The rooms were ridiculously hot with no A/C. It would have been nice even to have a ceiling fan. There was some sort of construction going on the days that we were there right by our room. There was no acknowledgement of the inconvenience or even a heads up that there was a project that would result in loud jack hammering in the middle of the day. Not very relaxing. Thank goodness I never booked anything at the spa. The hotel is cute and quaint, but not the best experience. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Lovely motel, but...."
This is a cozy older but lovely adobe motel very near to Monterey's wharf, built on the site of a former rancheria (a small portion of the original dwelling is still onsite). No A/C, which we knew when we booked. So, window had to be open with the large ceiling fan on. I had a room at the front of the motel, so heard traffic throughout the night. The […] rooms (we had two) were clean. However, the toilet ran nearly constantly in my room, which I fixed temporarily and reported to the front desk on checkout. Also, the safe was locked and, therefore, I couldn't use it, which I also reported to the front desk on checkout. Nice to have a restaurant with patio onsite, but in the evening they were very, very slow. Perhaps better for breakfast. We didn't take that chance and went across the street to eat at the Wild Plum. "Flowers at the hacienda"
Casa Munras is a beautiful property with many two-story buildings containing a variety of room-types. Access to your assigned room is via a driveway that winds through the property. The grounds are more remarkable than the rooms, which seem to be your basic, better-quality hotel rooms. Our studio-style room was a little tight, but clean and more than […] sufficient for a one-night stay, with the one exception: no air conditioning. As for location, we easily walked a short way to Alvarado Street, where there are many restaurant choices for dinner. -- One observation: the staff *and* hotel literature stress that Casa Munras is a "100% smoke-free property" (and there's a $250 fine if your room smells like smoke and they have to clean it). There insistence on no smoking is, disappointingly, hard to take seriously however, as on several occasions smoke wafted into our room (windows open because of no AC). I left feeling like there was some unspoken understanding that there was no way to enforce there own rule, as there seems to be an inability or unwillingness to enforce it, and employees maybe just kind of wink, invisibly, when they have to mention that particular expectation. (Ashtrays atop the garbage cans belie the property's expectations.) -- Bottom line: it's a beautiful property, comfortable enough. After having stayed once, I know better for next time. "Great location and great staff"
Best staff ever! Close walk to Trader Joe, local free transport, and Tuesday night farmer's market! The restaurant served great breakfasts for a good price and the hotel gave us 10% off coupon. We will definitely staff here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice place to stay"
Near the beach/aquarium and other attractions. It was a hot weekend, and the air conditioner was not working however. Friendly service, clean rooms/hotel. Nice place to stay and a good dealGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Worth the $."
Location is amazing. Easy15 minute walk to the pier, cute shops and eats along the way. And a Trader Joes half a block away!! The on site restaurant has yummy bfast, get the French toast!! Not fluffy by any stretch, I think they press it on the griddle, it comes out crispy and with a hint of cinnamon. DELICIOUS! Staff is friendly. Only word of caution, […] no a/c. Most guests left their doors and windows open for a breeze. We left the windows open, kept things decent but still a bit stuffy. All in all, we'd stay again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Looks can be deceiving."
When you drive up to the hotel, the outside looks lush, swank, high class, sophisticated. We looked at each other and thought, Ok, this is going to be awesome. The staff were great. Then we headed to our room. Ugh! Once you turned that first corner it felt like a Hotel 6 that was turned into a cheaper hotel with a generic name, "Sleep." Paper thin walls, […] no air conditioning and the hot water pipes were so loud that it shook the room. The shower spit water out if you were lucky but the sink was like the rapids. I wish I could've fit in the sink, at least it would have felt like I actually got the shampoo out of my hair. The room looked and felt run down, but was nicer than an average motel, I expected more for the price. We had the unfortunate luck of being in the room next to the gym. 5:00am and someone was on the treadmill. Again, paper thin walls so that was a pleasant sound to wake up to. It's supposed to be a non-smoking hotel so naturally all the smokers stand around outside instead of Oh I don't know, NOT STAYING AT A SMOKE FREE HOTEL. The positive was the location. Within walking distance of all the awesome places that Monterey has to offer. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"NEVER judge a book by its cover!"
The pictures on hotels.com were WONDERFUL! So, my boyfriend and I thought that it would be just as beautiful in our room as the pictures...BOY WERE WE WRONG! The room was TINY! If my bf and I stood hands stretched out we could touch the walls! the bathroom shower was TINY!!!! I am not claustraphobic however, that was ridiculous! the bed took up most […] of the room! No fridge, no towels! Had to call to get ANYTHING! NEVER EVER AGAIN! The only thing I did like about this place was the convenience of the location. The headboard had headboard had termite holes! Oh and since they allow dogs and pets I SWEAR I got flea bites from this place! I left this hotel with welts on my legs the size of quarters! For the price we paid....NEVER EVER AGAIN! "A cozy Hotel close to Monterey Bay attractions"
We were pleased with the room accommodations for our two night stay. We were two people and we booked a room with a King bed which gave the room the appearance of being small but there was enough room to move around comfortably. The bathroom was equally small but served its purpose. The room was clean and had recently been remodeled. The Hotel is close […] to Downtown Monterey and within a short walking distance (1.5 Blocks) from the free Trolley that picks you up at Pearl street. The Trolley stops in Downtown, Fisherman's Wharf, Cannery Row and the Monterey Bay aquarium. Did not visit the on-site Spa for a message and we did not find anything on the menu to our liking at the local restaurant but there were plenty of people enjoying the food. Nice Hotel and conveniently located. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Comfort and a great restaurant"

"Great room for price"
Our stay was great the room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. We got one of the delux king rooms and I liked that it was a single story, it had a refrigerator which came in handy. Will definitely stay there again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Stayed here two separate times in one week. My first stay I was given a room that had a loud banging noise (in what seemed like the pipes) every two minutes. It also had a musty smell (which is horrible for someone with a sensitive nose like mine). I called the front desk and they moved me to a much nicer room #512. The hotel is clean and the desk and […] maintenance crew where extremely nice. The second stay was in a clean room (526) but just a little less nice than the first. They cod accommodate room 512. Overall, I will definitely stay there again. Price was also within my companies rules. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

The Casa Munras was well located. The setting was lovely and quiet. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. "Rooms are old"
The grounds are very nice. The front desk person told me it "really isn't a hotel, it is more like a motel." Rooms are extremely dated. The rooms have a very moldy oder.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Little room problems"
I thought the property and common areas were great. The room, however, had some issues. Old TV with two remotes that I could not figure out. Spilled wine (just a little) on both the leather chairs in the room. The room was pretty loud to outside noise, but it did not bother me at night- everyone seemed to be early to bed. Otherwise, the room was comfortable […] and fine. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Walking distance to wharf and Cannery Row"
I was absolutely delighted and surprised to find the hotel was within a 20-30 minute walk to the Monterey wharf and Cannery Row.
