The location of the hotel was good and the room was clean, but very outdated. The bathroom had a formica countertop which I don't think I have seen in a hotel bathroom in over 25 years. It was only about 8 inches deep so only very small items fit on the counter. The shower was clogged so by the time I finished my brief shower, I was standing in two inches of water. The desk had multiple large and deep water rings which wouldn't have been a huge deal if the rest of the room was updated, but it just added to the feeling that the room was neglected. On the positive side, the bed was comfortable and the room had all the amenities a more updated room would have such as coffee/tea and iron/board. The hotel was within walking distance of everything I wanted/needed to do.

We are very pleased to share that we are currently undergoing extensive guest room renovations with two building being completed mid-February and three more by mid-May. This is a great hotel! Our room was clean and comfortable and the spa was pure bliss. (I enjoyed a spa treatment while my husband went golfing.) So relaxing! The hotel is within easy walking distance to the wharf and cannery row with lots of restaurants to choose from.

Stayed here for our anniversary. The room was very nice, more like a bedroom than a hotel room. The gas fireplace made it cozy. The hotel restaurant was excellent.

Hotel is going thru some significant reno. Construction also caused parking to be funky. Older hotel room was clean, comfortable, and decent. Appreciated the featherbed on the mattress. The heater was noisy thru the nite, but the fireplace was nice. Had a wonderful massage at the on-site day spa, however the atmosphere was more clumsy, than zen. Little details were 'off' - candles in the women's locker room not being lit; a dead orchid on the bathroom sink; someones personal shave cream left in the (dry) shower stall; and the music was a bit too loud during the treatment. Apparently, there was a hot tub at the day spa we could have used, but no one told us. The lady at the desk as you first walk in seemed gruff and in a flustered demeanor proclaimed there were no early check-ins. Though she wasn't outright rude, she wasn't welcoming - not good since that desk is the first thing encountered when walking in. The check-in staff was friendly, but a seemed disinterested, not telling us about the construction or related parking difficulties; pool use/hours; the on-site day spa; the on-site restaurant; concierge services; or the free walking map or cookies. Had breakfast at their on-site restaurant/Esteban's - beautifully presented, but again staff seemed disinterested. Overall decent with a great location and tons of potential, but the lackluster customer service should be improved to enhance the customer's experience.

This hotel is about a 10 min drive to the Aquarium. The staff was not super attentive a often too busy to help us. The walls were hollow so every step above us and every tv next to us was extra loud! The room and bed were clean and comfortable.

I was a decent experience. They are remodeling so the construction work is causing limited parking to get even more challenging. Rooms were clean and the fireplace was cozy. The room and bathroom are clearly older, but they are painted and furnishings are updated. Bed was very comfortable for both of us. That and cleanliness are bottom line for us and I'd give it a thumbs up. Good value for the price.

Within historic Monterey you can find no better place to stay than this traditional motor hotel with attitude. At first glance it is a Monterey historic designed motel, but wait! There is a spot on Tapas Restaurant,Esteban. The patio invites you to take in the night and get to know those who love fore and wine. The staff respond to technologically naive people like myself by coming to your room and making stuff work. And it's going to get better! Construction was underway and the new interiors will bring what is good to great. I'm looking forward to my next stay already.

The staff is a little lackluster, they used to be super friendly and engage in dialogue with me, I have staying here for years. They are renovating for the next year....I feel like the spa should be included as part of the stay..not spa services but the spa.....I am losing my faith in this being my favorite place to stay.

The staff at the front desk were very outgoing and generous in their offers to help with directions, restaurant recommendations, etc. The first room we were given was unacceptable. The carpet was very dirty and worn , the furniture was old and chipped and stained, and the room was extremely musty. I picked up a strange object from the carpet and could not identify it. It may have been a large dried out centipede-like worm; we were not sure. The second room was better. It, too, had some issues. The chair by the entrance had something splashed and smeared on its seat cushion. The furniture showed its age, but it did have a flat screen TV- the first room had an old tube TV.

It's a decent hotel in a clean neighborhood, and they were obviously making renovations. The renovations were well done and the decor of the room was pleasant and comfortable. It was not clean however. There was a dead spider stuck to the ceiling, and the bottom of the bathtub was dirty. Also, the walls are exceptionally thin. We could hear the conversation in he room next to us very clearly.

If you want to stay Downtown and there are things to do there and be out of the Cannery Row area, this is a good place to stay. Easy walk downtown to local shops and restaurants. Very near the Cooper-Molera Adobe which is a wonderful house to see. Budget cuts mean there is not always a guide available but the docents are well versed too. There is a Trader Joe's a block away, nice cafe across street. I try to find other places to eat than the hotel as I like to try lots of places when visiting. There were lots of people eating in the place so made it at least companionable

The hotel is comfortable, easy checkin, helpful employees and best of all, only about a 10-15 minute walk from the wharf. Rooms are a bit small but we didn't come to hang out in the room. Only complaint I have is the noise from other guests upstairs apparently having a pro wrestling match and others stomping up and down the stairs. Would definitely ask for an upstairs room next time. All in all a good experience.

As soon as we got in line to check-in I was very disappointed with the staff at the front desk. The guy was chit-chatting too much with the couple in front of us and we waited for about 15 minutes until someone else came to help. The front desk guy didn't even say "I'll be with you guys soon." He was giving that couple awesome customer service but to the extent of making the rest of us in line, upset, frustrated, and annoyed. The guy that did come get us check-in was helpful and did not take long to get the process done. One con to this experience, besides long wait at check-in, was the lack of parking due to construction. We had to park far from our room and take our luggage and carry it upstairs (no elevators) to our room. The location is great but they do need to update hotel and train staff on having overall great customer services with ALL clients.

The cleaning and maintenance staff should not use the Handicap parking stalls to park their service vehicles. This takes away from those that need these spaces. (across from the maintenance office) I don't see where you notified guests that the property was under considerable construction phases when making reservations. Knowing this in advance would have impacted the cost/value. Unfortunately there were several unattended children running throughout the hallways. Even though the noise stopped before 9:00 p.m., the doors slamming shook nearby rooms. I rented two rooms and was surprised of the significant difference in quality and size between the two.

Arrived in the dark and not a clue where it was...the clerk guided me in on cell phone with wit and a keen sense of direction. Rooms very nice but buildings are poorly sound-proofed...across hall party had to talk for about an hour with their group before shutting the door. Accoustics of people walking near room very loud. Otherwise, lower cost, very clean, comfortable. Parking difficult as doing some major renovation. Very large hotel/motel. Outdoor accommodations at restaurant very nice. Also a Denny's and a Thai Restaurant directly across the street. The people at Denny's are having a good time and if you are a breakfast at night person, they do it well. I'd give Munras 3.5 with good value for your money. I paid half of the price for the room than my conference mates on Cannery Row. If you are an up and at 'em person go here and hang there. If you are a sleep til noon and look at the ocean from your room person, go to Cannery Row and stay.

Stayed one night. Order a standard Queen room. Very small room with cheap doors and cracked tiles. It is more like a mid-size cell with windows around. The bathroom was echoy and walls and ceilings are paper-thin, any talking and movement from neighbors could be heard (sometime too much information). The heating system makes loud noise, woke me up several times during the night. Overall, over-priced motel experience. Staff was nice enough, and location not too bad. Not much value for the dollar but when in dire need it comes handy.

We chose the Casa Munros as we drove into town after checking its location and reading about the great beds and spa feel. We booked a "cozy queen" room. The Expedia reservation took a few min to get to the hotel so we talked to the mgr about nearby places for a snack and beverage. He sent us down a few blocks to a local brewery which was perfect. When we returned our room was ready and he gave us an upgrade! NICE! King bed and fireplace! We checked in, then went to the restaurant on the property, Esteban, where we sat around the firepit and enjoyed some tapas and wine. Perfect ending to a great day of driving from Paso Robles to Monterey.

We actually stayed there several weeks ago, but I thought I should take a little time to regroup. In my 63 years of existence, I have never written a negative review...this is a 1st. The room we were given was simply,at best, a run down motel6 and at an exuberant price!!!!! What a RIP-OFF...and on a week night besides! I can only suggest you look elsewhere

Included within the scope of the renovation plan is the installation of 42” inch flat screen televisions, new flooring, and all new furniture. The common areas of the Casa Munras are beautiful and the outdoor fire pit is especially conducive to relaxing with a glass of wine and friends. However the rooms are filthy with stained carpeting, but we understand that the rooms are soon to be upgraded/remodeled. Location is central/within walking distance to the downtown Monterey area for shopping/restaurants.

Centrally located within a 10 minute walk of downtown area and the Wharf and lots of good restaurants. The room was efficient, bed very comfortable, bathroom very clean. Nice clean heated swimming pool. I would definitely stay here again.

They are doung a complete remodel so half of the hotel was under construction. Its going to be really Beautiful after that's done.

The day we checked into the hotel I was asked the occasion and told them it was for my birthday. They sent a bottle of sparkling wine to our room and I thought it was very generous and thoughtful.

Property under construction. Room old. Csrpets old, rusty fixtures in bathroom. Everytime we returned to room keys did not work we had to go to front desk multiple times. Thye claimed the rain had affected the lock on the door. Security's keys did not work either. They were rude and demanded id instead of apologizing for repeated inconveience. Really! The did not restock bathroom each day. Would not return here. Dont believe the pictures.
