The reviews raved about the Revere Hotel in Boston so I thought I'd give it a try when the hotel that I normally stayed at was out of my price range due to the 4th of holidays. The hotel was easy to find compared to the check-in desk, which was hidden behind a circular stairway and piece of art. The check-in process was simple and the front desk staff […] were low-key (it would have been nice if they were a little bit more inviting). I read about the champagne too and since my friend and I weren't offered any we asked. Upon arriving at our room I noticed empty champagne glasses outside the door of our room. Not a big deal, but it's the little things (or maybe I've watched one too many episodes of Hotel Impossible). The room was spacious and had a balcony. The beds were comfortable too. What set me off was the fact that upon entering the bathroom the toilet was covered in shavings of hair and possibly urine. It was disgusting! I called the front desk and they immediately corrected the situation, however it was quite a disruption with multiple phone calls and people walking in.So despite a few hiccups the overall experience at the Revere Hotel was okay, but not exceptional. The only reason I said 4 for comfort was I had never used a sleep number bed. There was no literature on how to use it and it was not as easy as I had been led to believe. I stayed two nights at the Revere for a conference, and was upgraded to a loft room on the top floor. The staff were very accommodating, the room was spacious and clean with a sitting area and a VERY comfortable bed in a separate room with a door. "Old HoJo with Faux Chic Decor...Broken Bed"
This is a former Howard Johnson hotel, "modernized" with silly "chic" decor. (Target quality.) The Euro-style "music" playing in the lobby can't hide the fact that the old HoJo infrastructure remains in many places -- e,g, the loud AC system and cheap popcorn ceilings in the rooms. Worse, my bed was broken. It was one of those Sleep Number doo-hickeys, […] but the settings had no effect on the soft-as-a-marshmallow left half of the king bed. Fortunately, the right half was sleepable and didn't do a number on my back. I got a good deal on Hotels.com, and the location is convenient, but I'd never stay here again.
