The woman at the front desk presented herself as if she did not want to be there, no customer service skills in my opinion. No personable skills what so ever. She was not rude but I found it odd that a hotel would employ a person without personable skills. The room- decent. Clean. The bathroom, carpet and hair dryer are VERY outdated. The carpet I assume […] is so worn because the beach is so near. The breakfast was decent. I give it a 3 because I have paid less for better amenities in nicer cities. I will not be staying here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Location is great, service staff were pleasant. Rooms were clean, though there are minor details that could become issues in the future. The elevator did not function on a couple occasions. However, the managers really were rude and arrogant. One continued to scold us for accidently bumping against an alarm on the elevator. It went off for only a second, […] we apologized and explained it was not held down, not hit on purpose, just bumped into when someone stumbled, yet he could not refrain from chastising and scolding. We left immediately and still had one night left that was already paid for. We will not ever return. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location but hotel is extremely dated."
Rooms are in need of major upgrades. Some of the lights did not work. The phone jack cord was broken. The room smelled like smoke and we were in a non-smoking room. The shower looked like it and 20+ years of caulking on it to fix multiple cracks. The location is nice and convenient. The continental breakfast was actually pretty nice with good options, […] but I would not stay here again. Not even for half the price. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Right next to the beach!"
Our main purpose for staying here was the location and brief walk to the beach. Breakfast was free and delicious. I would definitely return and stay even longer!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"What do you want, its a Travelodge"
The location is perfect! Right on the beach. Oh course you have to pay extra for an ocean view (the alternative is a noisy street w/o a balcony). It's also close to a few locals favorite type restaurants, fun places, good people. The beach is perfect, soft sand & surfers. The motel itself... It's a Travelodge, small, dated & not luxurious. But, it does […] the job of a beachfront motel. Do yourself a favor & spring for the oceanfront room & enjoy. Your welcome! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Close to the beach"
This hotel was OK based on the price, and the proximity to the beach. It looked like the rooms may have been recently been renovated, and looked fine. The towels were teriible; scratchy, small, and not very obsorbant. Also, if you have a room on the PCH, not the beach side of the hotel, you get a lot of traffic noise. There is a market across PCH, which […] is convenient, but not much else worth walking to besides the beach, and the wetlands nature walk. Overall, an OK, not great place to stay. "Hold your nose!"
I was in Huntington Beach for a conference at the Hyatt but wanted to save some money so I stayed here. Its 3 miles outside of the center of town, but on the beach and close to the national park, where you can rent beach chairs etc..so that part was nice. When I arrived, I noticed it was run down but housekeeping seemed to be making an effort to keep […] it somewhat clean. But an hour after checking in, I noticed a weird odor, which worsened throughout the day and was so overwhelming that I called Hotels.com to see how to get a refund (and find another hotel). They were unable to reach the front desk... I was gone until 8 pm and when I returned the smell had evaporated. I suppose they removed the dead body! The next day there was a hint of residual odor but not overwhelming. I will certainly think twice about trying to save a few books by booking hotels with less than good reviews in the future Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Poor condition of hotel"
We were disappointed on the overall condition of this hotel. It really needs a lot of TLC for the price we paid. We had a very unique "closet" in our room.Genuine Expedia guest review
"close to Huntington Beach pier..great Reataurant"
Loved our room. Very spacious and comfortable beds. Perfect location for families with kids. The beach just across the street was very nice and uncrowded. Also had fire pits we enjoyed in the evening, A very good restaurant was recommeended to us by the front desk. So good we returned the next night for dinner! Very friendly and helpful staff. "Great Stay!! Great staff, great location!!!"
Highly recommend!!! Front desk staff and cleaning staff were super friendly and accomodating. Room was spacious, clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. Our room was literally only a few steps from the beach. The breakfast had many options and provided a great start to the day. We were there 3 nights and did not want to leave!! "Convenient location BUT needs updating"
Upon check in we went to our room. Within five minutes we noticed a large bug come out from under the vanity and then under the carpet in front of the vanity, which was pulling away and not secure. We contacted the manager who came to our room. She also saw the bug and moved us to a different room. Both rooms needed some deep cleaning. Carpets had stains […] and the walls also had stains. Corners and edges of room were not clean and had cobwebs. We also noticed a prior guest’s pill and peanuts along the edge of the room. Fixtures in the bathroom were old and the fiberglass bathtub had indentations from years of use. Air conditioner in the room had a musty smell when turned on. Had an old tube TV in the room. The hotel is very convenient to the beach as it is a very short walk through a parking lot and across the street. One side of the hotel faces the beach and the other side a very busy four-lane road. The beach side is definitely quieter and more desirable but does require an additional cost. You get what you pay for, so if you want a cleaner, updated hotel, stay elsewhere. The only plus going for this place is the location and u have to pay extra for a view..the carpet is horribly dirtt. ..the tiny bathroom had horrible sewer odors...needed all new everything..tv continued to loose signal and internet was sporadic at best....for the $$....stay somewhere else...elevator was broke and when it did run..it took 10 min to […] close & ran like it was out of the 1920s Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Acceptable in a pinch..you get what you pay for"
The hotel has nice beach access. That's about it.. Towels are like sandpaper, the shower and tub are so tight that you can't turn around. This is not a place to spend a vacation unless you like living on the PCH with traffic under your nose.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Walk to the beach and enjoy."
We had a wonderful time. Our family was here for a wedding at nearby Meadowlark Golf Club....so we needed 4 rooms. The hotel is so close to the beach that we could walk over there in between wedding activities and also walk to some restaurants. We enjoyed the free breakfast very much. I can't wait to go back and stay again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Travelodge Ocean Front - Good Value"
Hotel with free parking right on the beach. Room facing the beach has great view and not too noisy (cost $40 more). We slept with the balcony door opened, wonderful breeze. Next to the hotel is Jack in the Box, across the road is Subway plus a few other restaurants. It is too far to walk to Huntington Beach, but just a short 5 min drive there. Plenty […] of restaurants and shops at Huntington Beach and Seal Beach. Whole family enjoyed the free breakfast, a good collection of cereals and yummy microwaveable buns with egg and a meat patty. Milk, juice, coffee, tea, apples, oranges, bananas available. Wi fi is great! Room is basic and not fancy, but clean enough. We had a good time there. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

We really enjoyed the stay, the hotel was clean free parking, the beach is about 300 to 400 yards away our room had a great view of the beach and the ocean. And as far as things to do you are about 10 min. "Close to beach as well as family we were visiting"
Nice beginning to a vacation.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel is located on the west side of PCH, so getting to the beach was wonderful plus parking was free and underground. The hotel itself is outdated. We had a room facing PCH and could hear traffic all night long, perhaps upgrading the windows would help with that. The shower needs new fixtures and putting the toiletries on the toilet.. No thanks. The […] hair dryer looked like one of those "Flowbees" they used to sell on TV. Couldn't tell if it was blowing or sucking. Travelodge should renovate the hotel and charge more money as the location, kicks butt. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
I booked the room and was told there was only one room left, no ocean view and one king bed. My sister and I decided we would just suck it up and share. I cancelled from another hotel because this one was so much closer to the beach. When we checked in, we were pleasantly surprised to hear not only did we get an OCEAN view, it had two queen beds and […] a BALCONY! Parking below was perfect, continental breakfast was a nice variety and we walked out our door to the beach below! To say we were both excited would be an understatement! We had the best time walking back and forth to the beach and people watching from our balcony. We both said we will DEFINITELY stay there again and request the same room! "Close to the beach"
The hotel was close to the beach, right on a busy corner of PCH. I was fortunate enough to have an ocean side room to minimize the traffic noise. The hotel décor is very dated and had an aroma. The room was good sized. However, housekeeping was poor and lacked attention to detail; dusting, corners, vacuuming. The carpet was so dirty that my socks/feet […] literally turned black when I walked on it. The remote control had a sticky substance all over it. The bed was comfortable and was the cleanest spot in the room. The room was dingy due to poor lighting. Lighting fixtures were removed and lamps were in their place. "Travelodge Ocean Front"
We picked this hotel due to it's location (on the beach). The hotel is located immediately next to the Pacific Coast Highway which is pretty loud at all hours, so we specifically requested ocean-side rooms which are on the opposite side of the hotel. When we arrived, we were informed that there was an additional $40 charge per night for ocean-side rooms. […] I found the room to be clean and comfortable, but had to put the sliding closet and balcony doors back on their tracks. This hotel would be a solid 3.5 stars without the unexpected fee. "Probably not again!"
The place was in a great location to Sunset Beach. The lodge is OLD, not really updated, updates were done with Home Depot cheapy fixtures. Staff was not very friendly either....Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Dirty Hotel on the Beach"
This hotel was super dirty, super noisy and just generally awful. We booked it to stay on the beach. But the view of the beach would be $20 more. The beds were not comfy, the traffic noise was super loud, the hotel staff was ok. I wished so badly that I would have stayed somewhere else!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Hotel needs a face lift"
One thing you can say about this hotel is the location is great; right across from Sunset Beach. So that being said if that's your only purpose for visiting, the beach, then you've found it. Otherwise the rooms are dated are not kept up. The free wifi internet sucks its horrible. The parking on the weekend we stayed was super tight; very few spaces […] available. And if you pick the ocean side rooms, you will be in for a lot of noise until early in the morning; coming from beach goers. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to the Beach....."
It was fine for the short time we were there. Brought out-of-state guests to enjoy the beach and had 'June gloom' weather but it helped that we were so close to the beach that we could go out for a short time and then back to the hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Right on the beach."
I have stayed at this hotel before simply because it is 50 steps from Sunset beach and Bolsa Chika State park. The hotel is also on Pacific Coast hwy which means you can get to all the main attractions in minutes. The hotel is old abd very ckean and the staff is great. The location is the best part if it. We will definitely be back next year.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location for beach play."
The rooms were good size and average cleanliness for any super 8 type hotel. You get covered parking and walk only a few feet to be in the sand. Also only couple minutes from Huntington Beach.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great Location, Great Price"
My friend and I are from New Mexico and found this hotel online and picked soley on what we saw here on Expedia. This was our first trip to Cali and I feel like we couldn't have picked a better hotel for the price. The hotel is a little old but it's CLEAN and that was a big factor for us. The location is PERFECT. You can literally walk to the beach […] right through the parking lot. I slept great and although the highway is a little noisey it wasn't something that kept me from sleeping. It is right on Sunset Beach and just a 5 minute or less drive to Huntington Beach and also very close to Seal Beach as well. Take the Pacific Coast Highway and you will get anywhere quickly! Anyone who rates this hotel badly must be used to very fancy hotels or have very high standards. This hotel did the job for me. I was very happy. Also there is a GREAT pizza place across the Pacific Coast Highway that you have to try!!! I will definitely be staying here again when I go back.. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
I booked our room under the impression it was going to be ocean front because it was the more expensive room, it wasn't. It faced a rooftop & alley. "Nice, but ..."
I have stayed here four times and I have always been booked in room 219. Not too much of a problem, except the last two times there was construction on several rooms across the hall. good experience based on staff and location only. hotel was as clean as it could be, no doubts to the dedicated cleaning and maintenance staff. however, it certainly could use updates.get rid of the dirty smelly carpet and put laminate or stained concrete. both the sink and bath faucet continuously drip, not a single wall outlet will hold a plug in. […] I did the math, the hotel has 57 rooms, that sell out just about every night. @ an average of $130/night x 57 = you pull in about 7400/night.after paying your staff, utilities, payroll, supplies, you should be able to afford it and keep the place easier to maintain and more appealing and even charge a tad more! watch hotel impossible a couple times! "Great location, worth the price."
If you want an affordable hotel with an excellent location....this is it. If you are one of those trust fund babies than this is not the place for you. If you want to bring your family or freinds and stay right on the beach and still have money left over for other things then this is the perfect place. Parking is free and is also covered. The breakfast […] buffet is decent and free! If you can afford to stay on the beach side of the hotel, do it. The noise from the PCH never stops. The only complaint that I had was the noise from the highway, which is right outside your door. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay right on the beach and within walking distance of restaurants. Be careful of stingrays in the ocean right across from the hotel. There seems to be a large population of stingrays in this area, so learn the "stingray shuffle" before you enter the water. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nothing special but good location"
The hotel served our needs just fine. Despite the fact it is packed in tight between PCH and the beach there was ample parking below the hotel. The security doors didn't seem to be working properly but I felt safe. The location is the best thing about this place. It was a very easy walk to the sand and easy access to PCH.
