The Galleon House is a wonderful place to stop over for the night en route to another destination. It is walking distance to the ferry and Charlotte Amalie and the shopping district. You can catch a $1 safari (bus) and go anywhere. The service was kind the breakfast delicious. You can not go wrong for the price.

Nice room overlooking city, close to downtown. Friendly staff, referenced us to a good restaurant. Only problem was the taxi that staff set up to take us to the airport never showed up. We got there but was too close for comfort. Confirm your taxi !!

Very adorable place (and yes, quite a hike up hill + stairs) with reasonable amenities, but a VERY helpful staff - the best we interacted with in the USVI. Mattress could probably be replaced, and not the world's best area, but we never felt unsafe. Gail was incredibly helpful and accomodating and was a delight. Would absolutely stay here again.

This is the second time we have stayed at Galleon House. While unpretentious, certainly, the view from the patio is great, the hostess Gail (sp?) was as friendly as could be, and access to downtown is an easy four minute walk (though steep for anyone with mobility problems). All very charming for those who can appreciate charm over glitz.

It is true.... there are a lot of steps to climb to this facility, but once you get there, it is an incredible experience. We spent two nights there recently. The staff is wonderful. Galleon House is a decent Bed and Breakfast, up a lot of stairs with a good view of the bay from the deck. The rooms are adequate, not luxurious. The breakfast is good. The customer service we received was truly superb. Gail was our hostess, and she is truly a hospitality professional.

Our one night stay took place early February 2013. This property has a great location, walking distance close to shopping and restaurants. The staff was very pleasant and the breakfast was very nice. Hotel staff leaves around 10 in the evening. About 11, an individual came onto the property and was (I believe) in a room below mine. This individual was either drunk or on something and began ranting and throwing furniture around. This went on for three hours. There are no phones in the rooms and when I went out to look for someone associated with […] the hotel, I could find no one. As such, I didn't get much sleep, especially when at 3:30 am someone's car alarm started going off. The staff, when there is someone there, is quite nice. The AC system in the rooms is quite noise so it's a choice of either listening to a very loud AC system or hoping that there is a breeze through the windows. But, if you have the situation I encountered with the ranting drunk just below you, the AC noise might be the better choice. Read more

It's the staff that make this little place a nice respite up the hill in Charlotte-Amalie. This was my 2nd stay at Galleon House and it lived up to my first stay. The view from our room and balcony was amazing. The location is perfect to head out shopping, to dinner, for drinks, or to grab a ferry to another USVI or BVI island. Will stay here again if my travels bring me back to St. Thomas.

We booked the hotel knowing that we would arrive around midnight and depart for St. John the next morning at 10am. This hotel exceeded our needs. It was clean, the bed was comfortable, the room was large, it was easy to get to by taxi (approximately $22 from airport for 2 people with 3 bags), and they had a great breakfast in the morning! We didn't […] get to see the grounds or use the pool, but the ferry to St John's was literally a 5 minute walk down a hill. The location was perfect for what we needed, and we would definitely stay here again. As a side note, I noticed in previous reviews prior to booking that some people were bothered by the number of stairs that you have to climb to get to the hotel. It is true that you have to climb about 40 stairs (approximately) to get to the lobby, but it's not as bad as some of the whiners claimed, and the hotel is worth the nominal climb. Read more

You must be able to climb a some steps, you will climb about 4 flights (broken into multiple segments) to get to the registration desk, and then probably another 2-3 to get to the rooms. Had a great experience staying at the Galleon House. My boyfriend and I stayed one night as we were passing through from St. John and had an early morning flight to catch on St. Thomas the next day.
