By far the nicest Red Roof Inn I've ever stayed at. It is right in the heart of Charlottesville and has to compete with some more upscale hotels nearby so they keep things very nice and clean. Great price for the convenience of the location.

I've stayed in similar hotels for cheaper rates. So considering the price, the bed could've been better. But what really was poor was the shower and the towels. Very rough towels and the shower pressure was poor. Basics go a long way in a hotel. If you don't get those right...the small things aren't as important.

The room was clean and good sized, with 2 queens. We had been told doubles so that was nice. The bathroom was fine but a bit small with very little counter space to put anything down. The tiny tiny table between beds was full with their phone and clock radio, so no room to put a book or a glass down. There was a 1 inch gap between the floor and bottom […] of door, not just our room but quite a few, which let sound and hallway light in. The " gourmet" coffee couldn't possibly have been very good if they couldn't spring for liquid milk/cream instead of powdered non-dairy creamer- ick. The orange and apple juice machine had a sign that said "available Sat and Sundays only"?? What can a young kid drink? Wished they had some breakfast as even the super budget places seem to now. We stayed at the hotel conveniently located very near UVA Medical Center. Our room was clean, the beds were comfortable. It is an older hotel. The foyers and elevators were not clean, so I was relieved when the room was. We checked in late, and the young lady at the front desk was very nice. This hotel is in a great location and parking is convenient however the current staff/management is running it into the ground. The decor is outdated, and the mattresses are uncomfortable. They need to put a little money into this place and transport it from the 80's to the present. Spent 1 night here as all other rooms around town were taken. Heater sounded like a jet plane cycling on and off all night long. One of the worst we've heard, plus the toilet flushing was loud and bothersome. No pool or game room. Hotel did in a pinch , but not for families with children wanting something to do .

Overall was good. electric went off 2nd day due to snowy weather. was off from 7 am until 10 pm. Still had heat, but no tv or lights Offered us a candle at 8 pm. should have night stands on both sides of bed.

The room was nice enough, but the bed was low to the floor and should have been replaced years ago. The towels are small and similar in feel to sand paper....fairly soft sand paper. Great location. Toilet didn't flush well. Second time we stayed there....probably the last. But close to the arena where we were going. Oh, and they picked Friday late afternoon […] to re-boot the room key entry system...so we waited outside the room until they came to open the door. It worked after that. Parking garage a nightmare with verry sharp turns. Updated decor but cheap materials. Still very old and loud heat A/C units. Thin walls and doors so if loud people in hall or t.v. next door you can hear them. If you're not a very heavy sleeper and want sleep, slurge on someplace else.

Well, the lock on my first door didn't work, so they had to move me to another room. There, I had kind of bad water pressure, and the faucet in the shower was coming out of the wall. The front desk staff was friendly, but very slow when I called them to find out if I needed to do anything to check out, since unlike every other hotel I've stayed at, […] they didn't put a bill under my door, nor could you check out via the TV. Very nice staff...helpful and courteous. Helped heat some food when I discovered room had no fridge or microwave. Room was somewhat dusty and, while the basics (bathroom, carpet) were quite clean, it was obvious that dusting skills were lacking. Dust was found on towel racks and desk lamp. Booked thru Expedia and staff was unable to move to a bigger […] room. I understand this may be an Expedia problem that was out of staff hands. The hotel was worth what we paid which wasn't a lot. It wouldn't be my first choice on a return but it would not be my last either. I wouldn't want to stay for an extended period of time but it was fine for just an overnight stay.

Very close to JPJ and the University but the technology is very dated. They actually gave us a "old school key" like key for our room. Not the normal credit card key so it was a pain to carry around all night. The staff was great and the rooms were average.

We stayed overnight before early morning surgery. Arrived late, left early. Room was quiet, clean and comfortable. Other than some cosmetic problems (loose paint on bathroom ceiling, broken tiles), everything was fine.

The hotel was pleasant enough. Not luxurious, but with the basic necessities plus a little more. No artwork on the walls and small tissue packs rather than tissue boxes. There was a small refrigerator and microwave in the room. The view was of a a multi-tier parking lot. Parking was under the building. Free breakfast only on weekends.

We loved the location. We walked in the evening around the area--found a couple of little grocery stores, restaurants, coffee shops, not to mention the U. of VA campus. Hotel staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. Room was large and comfortable, and bathroom was clean and in good repair.
