Don't count Econo Lodge out in the plans
We were attending a surprise 50th anniversary. It was in Fontana, so very little time spent in Janesville. Very glad we stayed at the Econo Lodge.

Good deal
Just needed someplace to stop for the evening and this was very convenient. Frontdesk lady was very nice and helpful. For those complaining of the limited breakfast or no elevator, remember this is ECONO lodge and not Best Western. Half of the hotels over $150 a night don't offer ANY type of breakfast, so the fact that you get such a great rate, free WiFi, parking AND any type of breakfast, this is a great deal for the price! My only complaint is the check out process, or lack thereof. Do not feel comfortable just leaving a room key on the desk where anyone could take it. Called the "0" number, got someone with a heavy accent and no one ever came to the desk.

Going downhill
I've stayed at this Comfort Inn numerous times over the years. I wasn't expecting a luxury hotel for their prices, just wanted a clean, quiet room. There's a general sense of grime that has built up over the years and it smells funky. My first room (they were fully booked) would not open (front desk tried as well), it felt as though it was bolted from the inside. Fortunately for me, someone else's CC had just been declined, so I got their room, poor folks. Would have been been terrible to be turned out after dragging my heavy bags up their stairs (no elevator) and 11 hours of traveling. There were stains on bed spreads, I could not turn the bathtub to turn on. The lady came in and turned it on for me and took off, I had to chase after her to get her to show me HOW she turned it on. Every time I was in the room, I started coughing. I coughed all night for four nights in a row. I'm not sure what it was, but there was some allergen or irritant that put a tickle in my throat, it was miserable. The security door was propped open at almost 11pm the night I arrived and many of the clientele looked pretty rough; I definitely wouldn't take kids here and as a single female I frankly didn't feel terribly secure, I kept my door bolted at all times I was in the room (and bolted to and from the car). Overall, I think it's time for me to upgrade hotels. I wish there were a mid priced hotel in Janesville; it's already an expensive trip.

There were very noisy people above our room which woke us at 10:45 pm. We called the lobby and politely asked them if they could do something. 30 minutes no improvement. I then went to front desk and asked them deal with it. I then waited 45 minutes later and still no improvement to noise. When I went to front desk they told me they had done nothing. Then when I was not happy they finally did something as the noise stopped. I should not have had to go three times. We had to be up at 5:30 am so we had little sleep. This event ruined our stay.
