Holiday Inn Raleigh North - Capital Blvd - Raleigh

My family and I stayed here one night. Upon checking in the staff were friendly and our rooms were very clean. I especially enjoyed the buffet breakfast in the morning. This holiday inn serves breakfast and dinner but unfortunately not lunch.

Had to get packages shipped there, and when I came to pick them up, the staff 1. didn't know where they were, 2. didn't properly handle one of them (after I had previously told them that it would need to go in the freezer), and 3. lost another one. Water was off at the hotel, we were not told at check in. Black stuff came out oaa water sourses. The did not work properly, never turned off and loud! Make-uo dried on the sides of the sink, plaster and paint on the tub and faucet. Breakfeast was cold, ran out off coffee. I was so pleased that the staff from the front desk to the waitress at the breakfast buffet were so hospitable, friendly and pleasant, and they all knew what they were doing--didn't have to wait around for information. The room was very clean and comfortable, and we didn't have to ask for anything. Our only disappointment was that the breakfast buffet […] was not that good--probably would have been if there had been enough food. We sort of had to scrape the bottom on the serving dishes for the last of the gravy and scrambled eggs, and the biscuits were cold. Got this hotel room through Expedia unpublished rates and it's actually outside the belt line which I was hoping to avoid, (the map expedia give shows that the hotel is either in downtown Raleigh or a tiny section outside the beltline so of course that's where the hotel is) so this would not have been my first choice in location. The hotel is on a big […] busy road and I felt very unsafe getting there from the other side of the freeway, this location actually tarnished my trip to Raleigh unfortunately. I had evening plans but once I got to the hotel, wanted to avoid getting back on that road til I checked out so stayed in the hotel instead. The room: One of the beds felt like there was something else in it (i felt itchy in it) and I saw one tiny (dead) bug on peeling back the covers, though whether that was from the bed or had come in from the outside somehow I don't know. Stayed @ hotel while in town visiting family. Location was good for my purposes. Had several issues with stay: locked out of room due to door lock mechanism breaking (had to change rooms). Then awakened at 6a with someone trying to get into room (found out later night staff only changed on reservation on paper and not in the system so staff did not […] know someone was in the room). Never really received a warm apology from desk staff. Overall did not have a horrible experience. Did not have issue sleeping from the first night on (which rarely happens to me while traveling). Overall, the hotel was great. Our room and bed, in room amenities were excellent. The buffet breakfast was very good. Coffee was great at the buffet. Down Side: At 6:15 AM the coffee urn in the lobby was empty (decaf was stone cold) and front desk told me I'd have to wait until the kitchen staff came on in 15 minutes. We left at 7:00 and there was […] still no coffee. The card reader at back door was not working properly. You could swipe, fast, slow, etc. but it took about 30 swipes before it would unlock the door. The cigarette butt can was right under the card reader and smelled very offensive. It was very quiet. I saw a couple of review that says the wall is thin and could hear neighbor's TV sound. But I didn't experience that. Poeple in the restaurant were nice to us, especially to my kids. I liked this hotel.

Hotel does not offer complimentary light breakfast, e.g., coffee, juice, sweet roll. Guests can do without, go find a donut shop, or pay for more than is wanted. I, and I think many other early risers want something quick and light so we can be on our way. This seems to be a trend (if two make a trend). I am staying at a property of a different chain […] in a different city for the remainder of the week. Same problem. Coffee is complimentary; otherwise it's vending machines, pricey hotel food, or go elsewhere. The survey does not ask for an opinion of value for the money. It satisfied my need for comfortable space. It was close enough to downtown and other areas I needed to be, but far enough away from too much traffic. The room was nice. And the lobby and restaurant very nice. This a well kept hotel. If your reservation does not include the breakfast buffet, I would pass on the buffet. Waffle House and Perkins are across the street, nearby. The free WiFi was irritating because of the variable connectivity.

The managment at this hotel do not understand what accommodation stands for let alone what GOOD Customer service amounts too. To have someone from out of town who clearly has a reservation for a stay at your Hotel sit/sleep outside from 4:30am to 10am is totally unacceptable.

We spent one night here as a weekend getaway. The front lobby was really nice and clean. Our room was nice but it didn't have a refrigerator, which was fine since we only stayed one night. My finacee and I drove down to Raleigh to attend a wedding of one of his friends. The weather was extremely hot and when we checked in the air conditioning took FOREVER to make the room cold. I will give them some gracesince it was pushing 95 degrees outside. The only other complaints I have were the broken ice machine (probably also weather related) […] and the enticing pillow advertisements and when i called the front desk they said they were out. Breakfast was above par, not dine dining, but much better than most continental breakfasts. And even though we didn't get any points added to our Holiday card, they did give us 2 complimentary drinks, which was fabulous considering the heat. Read more
