"Great Location - Spacious Room"
Just one block from the beach. Street is 'one way' so you have to circle around to get there. Walk to everything, clubs, eateries, bus, trolley, park, zoo. Interesting lobby with swing chairs, internet access plus printer. Small funky elevator but not too scary. Surrounding buildings are local dwellings w/ stacks of surfboards alongside, but surprisingly […] not too noisy at night. We got an upgrade to two beds in separate rooms, apartment style. I figure that most rooms are as spacious, probably because this building looks like it was an apartment home before being converted. Great price, also. We would definitely go back. I booked a room here for my wife and daughter who were attending a soccer tournament over the weekend. I was looking for a clean, safe and affordable hotel and came across this one. "Very nice hotel for the price and very clean."
The hotel was a nice place to stay. We stayed out most of the time but it was a nice hotel to come back to. Friendly associates, clean, kinda small but we didn't stay at the hotel the entire time.Genuine Expedia guest review
"I'd do it again!"
Great location and friendly service. No frills room, but the bed was comfy and it was an overall great value for the price and location. I'd stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This is a good, clean, small hotel, not a 4 star resort. The Sway bar and restaurant opens at 4:00 PM. Very good food in a friendly atmosphere. It is easy to sit at the bar and make new friends.Genuine Expedia guest review
Not worth the bucks you spend. Worst place I ever stayed. Please dont believe the 3.2/5 rating that shows up here. I would rate this as 0/5.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"I really liked this hotel"
Very good location. Only two blocks from the beach. It is not super fancy, but also less expensive than the beachfront hotels. Pay attention to the daily resort fee. I would go again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Overpriced even for Hawaii"
No daily cleaning. No Coffee maker in room. no coffee available in lobby until breakfast starts in the bar\restaurant. the room was small and looks as if it was an efficiency apartment prior to some basic renovation. the chair was a big plastic red hand, yes a RED HAND... no table. only one outlet worked for charging phones...Luckily there was a newer […] flat panel TV with USB that we hooked one phone up to for a charge. There was a closet ( No doors, only a old curtain) with NO hangers. the parking garage is a joke, unless you are in a Prius. ****************DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS PLACE!*********************** Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
If you want a great location and you don't care about the normal amenities, likes chairs or carpeting in the rooms, then you'll be happy with this hotel. Be careful though. "The Noise will keep you up all night"
Stay Hotel has the location card going on for it as waikiki is a few blocks away.. Not a lot after that.. The windows that they have are like big blinds so the rooms are not insulated from the noise outside... and there is a lot of noise.. mainly from all the other AC units working and the traffic on the road outside.. The shower space is so small it […] was ridiculous.. on the plus side, they did try to spruce up the room a little with the chair that looks like a giant hand and some nice lights.. also "continental" breakfast is included plus they have a bar in the building that they really sell to you as a place to hangout and eat dinner, etc.. the parking will be $25 and is a tiny space in their basement garage. The elevators shut so quickly that we got hit by the doors multiple times.. For us, the cons way outweigh the pros and for that reason we will never again stay there.. However, if you are on a tight budget, this might work for you.. that said, be ready to shell out about $150 a day including fees, etc. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great central location"
My husband and I stayed here because we needed a hotel for our last night on Oahu before moving back to the uk. The hotel was clean and serviceable and in a great location for walking through Waikiki. Nothing fancy, simple basic comfort.Genuine Expedia guest review
The Stay Hotel has great staff and a nice location (1 block from the beach). However it's on an extremely noisy street with buses and vans backing in and out and driving by all day and night. Bring earplugs! The wifi is spotty. The bed is not very comfortable.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Comfortable with Friendly Staff"
I would recommend this hotel for any single or couple staying in Honolulu who want to be in the mix. I stayed there as a single 20-something woman and loved every second. The staff and local store owners were friendly. They helped me find good places to eat and meet fun people. They even invited me to do activities with them in the area. I had the best […] time! The room was moderately sized. It was not huge, but I didn't need huge. The bed was comfortable enough. The lanai was very nice, and the bathroom was reasonable sized. Some reviewers stated that the rooms were small and between hostels. I am not sure what they were talking about. I have stayed in much smaller rooms in NYC for twice the price in terrible parts of town. This place was cozy, friendly, and perfect for a getaway. The bar downstairs made great drinks and had friendly locals and staff. Made many friends at Stay Waikiki. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Kind, friendly staff... thin walls, speaker didn't work even after switched out, no fridge, no coffee maker, poor lighting, they accidentally sent another guest to our room thinking it was theirs. Luckily we onlybspwnt 2 of the 4 nights there... it wasn't very comfortable. It looked and felt like an Ikea demo room.Genuine Expedia guest review
This is the perfect hotel for young adults who are chilling at the beach all day and experiencing Waikiki night life. Not the perfect hotel for my mid 50's mother and early 80's grandmother.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Convenient location but sad hotel"
Location is right in the heart of Waikiki, walk-able to beach and all of the strip with shops and restaurants. Hotel was very old and run down. Our room was not clean, towels, sheets, were stained and felt unsanitary. Room itself felt dirty, when we arrived tile floor was sticky and gross and there were hairs on the ground probably from the previous […] occupant. Other guests in our party had a room nearest the street and they had trouble sleeping from all the noise. Some of the staff were very friendly, others were just ok, not providing helpful information or following through with simple requests. Parking situation was terrible, they have an underground garage for $25 a day, small spaces hard to fit anything but a super compact car in there. But the worst part is they have a locked gate, great for safety but useless as you have to physically get out of your car and ask them to open the gate for you to enter or exit, even though the door is right there and they can see your car waiting to get in. Supposibly they have a camera inside so when you are wanting to leave they can open the gate for you when they see you pull up to it, however that only happened once. After that every time we were leaving we would ask the front desk person to please open the gate, watch for us as we are leaving right now, and every time we sat at the gate for 10 minutes until one of us got out of the car and went back inside to ask them again to open the gate. Response by Stay Hotel Waikiki Aloha Grace, Providing our guests with the best possible hospitality and service has always been our mission. I am sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with the cleanliness of the rooms and this is something that I would be more than happy to address with our staff so it is not an issue for anyone in the future. We want you to know that we truly enjoy sharing our passion for our destination with visitors and want you to walk out the door feeling refreshed. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed the location of the property! The one block proximity of our hotel to the Waikiki Beach is amazing and we are pleased that it was good for you throughout your stay. Our management team has been made aware of the noise concerns with the windows and the parking gate issue. We are currently looking into window and parking solutions that would enhance our guests time with us. So thank you for taking the time to inform us of your concerns; we truly appreciate it. With Warmest Aloha, Earl

"Staying in Waikiki on the cheap side."
Stay Waikiki is perfectly located in central Waikiki. Rooms only $98.00 plus tax. Why spend $469.00 a night or more.. Stay at the Stay Waikiki and have more money in your pocket for entertainment. Staff on hand were very helpful on information and places to eat. Only 8 stories tall and a fast elevator too! Restaurant not bad too! Walking to everything […] is close or take the bus. Do not need a car unless you want to see around the island and that can be done in one day. Come on down and RELAX! I sure DID! Would definately come on back. "Looks better in the pictures"
Not awful, not great. Pictures make the rooms look much better than they actually are. Could hear everything that was happening outside in the room. Bed was very comfortable, though. Breakfast is pretty lacking and the "amenity fees" of $10/day and $25/day for parking are outrageous. I would say spend a little more if you want the room to be nice. Nice location, staff very helpful and friendly. Rooms not the best, but the price is cheaper than many others in the same area. Location is quite noisy, windows do not close/seal very good. "Adequate hotel, friendly staff"
The staff was very helpful at every turn - we were staying only 1 night as we were in from Maui for the Probowl, and despite our short travel and stay, the staff were extremely kind and thoughtful. When we checked in (we arrived at about 9 am, so the room wasn't yet ready), one agent went out of his way to help with getting transportation. The lady […] when we picked up our keys was very nice and made dinner reservations for us. And when we checked out the next day, the lady who stored our bags was very friendly as well. We had a nice time, and our room that was allocated to us was beyond our expectations. The room was sparsely decorated, but it was tasteful, and the bed was comfortable. I am a housekeeping manager at a resort, and I was pleased with the cleanliness as well (trust me, most places I stay don't meet my standards! My wife and I spent five nights here. On the downside, the room was acceptable for the price but was a bit old and very simple. The wireless internet connection occasionally did not work which was a bit disappointing as it interfered with my work at times. The open lobby occasionally had insects but again, it was open air so that can't be helped. Nights […] were also sometimes very noisy as buses and trucks often run and stop on the road in front of the hotel and the room windows are not soundproofed at all. On the up side, all of the staff, both front desk and housekeeping, were extremely friendly...and genuinely so. The hotel location was excellent as well. We were only a block away from the beach, directly across the street from where our tour/activity buses departed and right in the middle of town. The hotel breakfast was nothing fancy...just cereal, breads, fruit, and yogurt. However, it was good, clean, and more than enough for us. Overall, the room wasn't anything special, but considering the price, the location, and our experience, I would certainly recommend it. If you're anything like us, you won't be spending much time in your room anyways. Plus, if you want luxury, you can hang out at the Moana Surfrider any time! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Breakfast was disappointing. There 3 nights and only went to breakfast the first morning. If free breakfast is important give this one a miss. We recently stayed here and for the price and location this was an ideal place to stay. You were one block from the beach and one block from shopping. We don't spend much time in our room but it had a nice comfortable bed and also a fold down photon which was nice. Their was a continental breakfast which we took advantage of but it was strictly that. […] The hotel had beach items to use and that was great. We also appreciated the honesty of the staff. "Pleasantly surprised, glad we chose this place"
I read many reviews about the hotel and I was nervous about how it was going to be. Some reviews slammed the place, while other reviews raved about it. We found this hotel to be EXACTLY what we wanted for our stay in Waikiki. It’s a budget hotel, but not a dump. It is well kept and clean. The staff is friendly and polite. The location could not be beat; […] so close to the beach, but not in the middle of the busy, crowded main strip. The hotel is 1 street off of the main road. The place blends in with the neighborhood and it gives you the sense that you are a local. The main street with designer label shops and eateries is right around the corner and easy to walk to. The room is not fancy, but who needs fancy when you are doing tourist stuff all day. Sure the bathroom is small, but it serves the purpose that we needed; shower and toilet. Our room was on the 7th floor and had a view of the ocean from our balcony. We slept with the windows open and a breeze kept the room comfortable, although street noise early in the morning kept us from sleeping late but that was OK by us. I made a point to speak with Earl the manager. I got the sense that he is involved in the daily operation and cares about the guest experience at his place. After staying here, I can only think that those that write negative reviews at this place probably should’ve paid $300 a night for some big corporate brand hotel. For us, the price was nice and the place met our needs perfectly. No car needed here. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Response by Stay Hotel Waikiki Aloha Susan, Thank you Susan for your recent comments regarding your visit to Stay Waikiki. It is true that there is a wide range of room sizes available at our hotel, some that are very large, and some that are smaller. We try to price them accordingly in order to offer a spectrum of value to our guests. With respect to our convertible sofas, we do not recommend these as a sleeping option for grown adults. They are not typical sofa beds. Instead, we usually encourage our guests to ask for a roll-away bed to accommodate any additional persons in the room. As we offer daily complimentary coffee and water in our lobby and at the complimentary breakfast in our restaurant in the mornings, we do not have coffee pots in the rooms. We are pleased that you found our staff to be friendly and helpful and that the location of the hotel being one block from Waikiki Beach and shopping was convenient for you. Mahalo, Earl

"You could do better..."
This hotel was not what I had expected. First of all, the room is not completely closed off with windows. There are blinds in the middle of the wall that act as a window but it is hard to keep the room cold. Secondly, because of the openness of the room, you can hear everything outside (dog, police siren, doors slamming, etc.). Also, the water from […] the shower never stayed the same temperature. "Not a bad stay"
I've stayed all over the Waikiki area, but this time around I was staying for an overnight layover so budgeted it. Overall Stay Hotel was an OK stay. The staff was nice, location was prefect and very convenient, but the room (especially the bathroom) was claustrophobicly tiny. Also keep in mind there is no safe in the room or a fridge.. it's a very […] basic room. The thing that bugged me the most about the hotel was the resort fee ($10). The night I stayed the wifi was down and I had an early morning flight so was unable to make breakfast (and a breakfast to go is not an option) - so I was glad they were willing to waive the fee. Overall, i'd rethink if I were to stay here again. For around the same price you can stay at other hotels with rooms that are a bit more spacious. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Response by Stay Hotel Waikiki Aloha, Mahalo for sharing your thoughts with us. We are disappointed to hear you did not enjoy your visit.
