The hotel is directly across the street from UF, which was conveniently located near my meetings. And it's surrounded by restaurants, which is great. However, the hotel is completely outdated. It looks as though it was built in the 1970s (which it must have been if not before then). And my room was dank and dirty. Although the bed linens seemed clean enough, it was hard for me to relax because the smell was so overpowering. Hotel management needs to dehumidify the place, clean the carpets, change the bathroom fixtures, and make sure cleaning staff deodorizes rooms with each cleaning. We loved the location of this hotel, directly across from the UF campus. But the hotel was very old and outdated. It was definitely clean, but the rooms were in need of a refresh and the beds were very small for doubles. The sound-proofing could be improved. At one point I was aware of someone with a coughing fit in the next room, and there was a rather loud argument in the room on the other side. Enjoyed everything about our stay but felt uncomfortable leaving my car in the parking lot because most of the parking is unlit at night and we had the family with us. The only well-lit parking seemed to be taken by customers of the restaurant within the building. I did not notice any parking lot security measures or security personnel in place.

Based on the other reviews I thought the hotel would be pretty dingy. But my room was clean and nice. Bed was very comfortable and pillows were the best. The only thing that could use some work is the hallways and elevator lobbies...and the gym was pathetic. But overall it was a great stay.

I was here on a residency interview for a one night stay. It was a perfect location (close to hospital) and the staff was very friendly and the beds comfortable. The shuttle service to the airport was the best feature, as I booked the hotel, and did not have to worry about traveling in Gainesville at all.

This place is probably the most central location in Gainesville. You can literally walk downtown, midtown, and anywhere on the UF campus. This was by far the worst experience I have had at a hotel so far. It was so bad in fact, that I left at 2:30am because I honestly couldn't even get through the night there. Holiday Inn hotels are very hit or miss. This was a HUGE miss. Apparently there was a huge hipster music festival going on that same weekend and this hotel had offered to be the […] "home base" for the musicians and fans. I know you need the money and offered up your hotel, but then it is your responsibility to let your other customers know that there is an event going on. After checking in, the room was pretty run down and moldy. At 11pm the dirtiest and most obnoxious people I have ever met started running down the halls, screaming, drinking, and playing instruments. The room next to me must have had at least 7 or 8 people staying in it. After calling a few noise complaints that were never solved, I pulled out a book and attempted to read until I could fall asleep. Next thing I know, I'm STILL reading at 2:30am as it was impossible to ignore all of the noise and weird smells. Then the fire alarm goes off. Because these kids were stupid enough to smoke in the hallway I was stuck outside for 30 mins in a cocoon of smoke that I had to breath in while waiting outside because smoking IN the hotel wasn't enough. There was no apology when they let us back in. Nothing. I knew after that there was no way these kids would shut up or go to sleep. So I figured enough was enough and I checked out. Read more

In town to visit my son for a few days who attends UF. Hotel is across from campus, close to many restaurants, shopping and campus life activities, so conveniently located. Front desk staff was professional and helpful. Staff inquired whether I was interested in a room close to the elevator upon check in. Thinking a room farther away from the elevator […] would be quieter I made the request. I was checked into a room on the 6th floor, at the end of the hallway farthest from the elevator (well at least they were listening :-)). Room was clean, not exceptionally so, but acceptable. I was in town to take a standardized exam at UF. Stayed one night. My room was clean and included a fridge. The beds were a little older but were comfortable enough. There was some noise on the floor, but the security guard got them to quiet down. I didn't go in it, but there's a Beef O'Brady's attached to the hotel. Also a McDonalds connects to the […] back of the parking lot. So there are food options on site. It's not the nicest hotel, but it's location across the street from UF campus is perfect. The lobby was updated and nice looking. The staff was friendly. What was both disconcerting and disappointing was the quality of the hotel itself. The door hardware is old and malfunctioning: the keys didn't want to work for my room or the fitness room, and the maintenance staff told me it's a regular problem. The alarm clock and shower wall panel were […] busted (as in smashed and cracked in several places). There was water trapped between the tub liner and the pan/or slab. I've never even heard of this happening before. If felt like I was standing on a water bed to shower and it was the weirdest/grossest feeling I've had while showering in a hotel. I travel for work and don't often leave bad reviews, but I'm surprised this hotel has not been updated. Coming from a background in commercial architecture and interior design, I would say that if the owners don't come up with a plan to start to start renovating floor-by-floor in the near future it will probably end up irreparable sooner than later.
