The beds were very uncomfortable, the air conditioning didn't cool the room, it was alot of outside noise, and the whole room had a feeling of shabbiness. We stayed for an event and when we tried to straighten out a problem with parking billing, no one even tried to be helpful. Between the area construction and cruise ship events, traffic is a nightmare. […] Best choice is to self park off the Pacific Highway side (the walk to the room from self parking and valet is just about the same anyway, although you will only save $2.00). Very disappointing for $170 a night (the same room others were charged $110 for). We will not stay at this property again. Location and the happy hour food at the bar are the only good things. "NOT WORTH THE PRICE FOR LODGING OR SERVICE"
MY WIFE AND I WILL NEVER STAY AT ANOTHER WYNDHAM UNLESS THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO OTHER OPTION. YOUR HOTEL IS OUTDATED AND SERIOUSLY NEEDS HAVE SOME PROFITS PUT BACK INTO IT; EXAMPLES: THE TELEPHONE DID NOT WORK VERYWELL AND CUT-OFF; THE CIELING IS STILL THAT COTTAGE CHEESE USED IN THE 70'S. THE SERVICE WAS FATAL: I HAD TO LET THE DISABLED PHONE RING FOR […] 5-MINUTES UNTIL SOMEONE AT THE FRONT DESK ANSWERED; THE COKE MACHINE IN THE HALL WHICH CHARGES 2 DLRS A DRINK THREATENED TO ROB THE MONEY I PUT INTO IT; WE WERE TWO ADULTS AND THREE SMALL CHILDREN AND DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH TOWELS WHICH HAD TO BE REQUESTED TWICE. YOU CHARGED OUTRAGEIOUSLY FOR ROOM SERVICE WHICH WAS 3-QUEZADILLAS AND TWO FRUIT DISHES; I GOT BETTER SERVICE AT THE LOCAL PIZZA PLACE FOR 12% OF WHAT YOU GUYS CHARGED FOR GREASIER FOOD. THE COST OF THE ROOM, FOR THE SIZE AND LOOK OF THE ROOM WHICH WAS NOT INSULATED FROM THE COLD SEA AIR ACCROSS THE STREET WAS NOT WORTH THE PRICE PAID. SOMEONE IS NOT DOING THEIR JOB OF INSPECTING WHAT THINGS NEED TO BE CHANGED AND UPGRADED--ESPECIALLY IF YOU TOUT YOURSELVES AS A RESORT, ON THE BAY "BAYSIDE" HOTEL. SUB-PAR SERVICE AND TOO EXPENSIVE: THIS HOTEL AND ITS MANAGMENT IS MORE THE QUALITY OF A MOTEL 6 BUT WITHOUT THE HONOR OF BEING ECONOMICAL. THE ONLY POOR MEMORY OF MY STAY IN SAN DIEGO (WHICH I HAVE STAYED MANY TIMES) WAS YOUR HOTEL. NOT WORTH IT. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Location-rooms just ok"
hotel is just ok-rooms need updating. The first room they put us in was not made up. Bed was not made, room had a sour odor, and carpet was filthy with stains all over the floor. We requested a new room and while it was clean it was smaller than the first room and was in the front of the hotel so it was louder. Location was perfect for what we wanted […] to do while in San Diego. Staff was friendly and helpful. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Veiw"
Nice view, great service and staff. But the grounds and the rooms need a little help, plus with all the city construction and street work, its pretty noisy and hard to get to and park. But still great trip for a great price, mahalos.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great Place for a San Diego visit"
Though in decor the Wyndham Bayside shows it's Holiday Inn roots, it's a well-run hotel in a convenient location for those who want to explore San Diago's attractions. It's close to a trolly stop which will take you from Santee to San Isidro, and the hotel's courtesy vans not only take one to and from the airport but also down town and to the world […] famous San Diago zoo multiple times a day. Nice bay-side views with balconies. In-house restaurant and other's near by (but your best bet is Old Town or the Thai place in the gaslight district). Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great waterfront location"
Excellent location. Quite a bit of noise from other guests; St Patrick's weekend might of contibuted to the rowdy people? Not as nice as expected for a Wyndham location and a bit more expensive then you would think when you see the facilities. It used to be a Holiday Inn and it still has a lot of Holiday Inn decorations/identifications in the room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Perfect hotel, location and price!"
Excellent location on the Bay side. My room overlooked the bay. nice pool, clean gym, courteous staff. Spacious clean rooms. Walking distance from boat museums, shopping plaza, good restaurants. Beautiful morning run along the shore. 10 minutes by car from everything including the Zoo, museums, downtown, airport, shopping malls... The perfect stay!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great stay and location."
This is the old Holiday Inn on the Bay, still a good location, could use remodeling by Wynham Hotels. $22 a night parking, lots of construction in the area, still a bargain, would come back.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Close to Amtrack and Trolly Service"
This hotel is super convenient for taking mass transportation. The hotel staff is probably the nicest and most helpful I've ever encountered. The room was fine. A bit on the small side and awkwardly laid out, but it was fine. Nice linens, but pillows too soft. The balcony was really nice, too. Overall, a very enjoyable stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It was really nice. I especially appreciate the service Micheal at the lobby gave. His service was excellent. Keep good employee such as him there.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Will be nice, just not quite yet"
Overall nice hotel, but not quite up to the caliber of its name. Wyndham appears to have recently bought this hotel and there is a lot of work to be done to bring it up to the standard of their other hotels.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Nice hotel for business stay"
I stayed in a room, one king bed, facing the sea side at 12th floor. The sunset was gorgeous. I enjoyed visiting the main bar and restaurant, Elephant & Castle, for glasses of wine. The atmosphere is casual and friendly.Genuine Expedia guest review
"A very positive surprise."
The hotel the rooms the lounge everything you would hope to expect was great. Walking distance to about anything. Do a lot of overnight travels on business, this was for pleasure, and it very much was. Would stay here again anytime.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Declining hotel in good location"
One of the slowest check-ins I've ever experienced. Balcony door lock didn't work, bathroom door would stick closed, not usable; TV remote useless; Good exercise facilities Good concierge service and good housecleaning service poor wifi speedGenuine Expedia guest review
"Tired hotel, needs upgrading"
This hotel is converting to a Wyndham hotel, so this review may not be accurate about future stays.Good location, close to trolley stops, walking distance to many restaurants. Clean rooms, but sliding door seals leak letting in wind and street noises. No refridge or microwave. Internet connection speeds were very erratic, generally quite slow (< 1MBps). […] Elephant and Castle restaurant is overpriced for mediocre breakfast selections. Friendly and helpful staff.. Dinners are OK. Check-in time was very slow due to lack of staff. "Decent hotel - Could use some updates"
The shuttle driver that picked us up from the airport was less than pleasant. As the first "face" of the hotel, I would think he should've been a little more friendly. Instead, he was rude and acted like picking us up was an inconvenience. I had requested a room facing the bay with a balcony. Our first room was on the 2nd floor right above the entrance […] and parking lot. It was very noisy and when I opened the curtains all I could see was the parking lot. If you actually want a view of the bay request a room on a higher floor. I went back to the front desk and they were able to put us on the 4th floor of the South Tower. The South Tower was much nicer and more quiet than the original building where the lobby is located. The location was fantastic if you don't have a car. We were able to walk to most places and if we took a cab it was a fairly inexpensive ride. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
""meh" is about all I can muster"
Getting off our cruise ship directly across the street was the best part of this hotel. Good location and things to do/eat nearby. But the noise! Street noise, hall noise, housekeeping noise... you'll hear everything. We had a baby with us (who I'm sure our neighbors didn't like hearing!) and thankfully we had a white noise app on my phone to help drown […] out the din.The room was clean enough but looked a little worse for wear and was nothing special at all. If we head to SD again I'll find another place to stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"San Diego on the bay"
the hotel is in a great location, with great views and many eating places within walking distance. the hotel provides shuttle services to many of the area location and they either run on the half hour or are sign up at a prescribed time. Hotel staff were always helpful and friendly.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Noisy!!!"
A parking garage is being built next door so lots of construction noise starting at 7am. The airport is also close so the takeoffs are also noisy when I was sitting on the balcony. We checked out days early because of all the noise from the site, airport and surrounding streets. Hotel staff was very nice about it though.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Sucky"
Hotel was clean, but you are required to pay for parking daily parking even if your a guest , and it dose not come cheep. 25$ a night. You are right next to the harbor , and it's beautiful at night. but there is often work and construction noise till 1230 at night. Not a good place to stay in you want some R&R. I hated itGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Great location, rude staff, hard beds, expensive parking that the hotel does not validate or give a price break. I'd recommend staying at a hotel a few blocks into downtown for a better experience at the same price. Take a harbor cruise for the same view, which is the only thing you'd be missing.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Birthday weekend"

great location...rooms in need of updating...Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel was great. We were able to check in early and they did a wonderful job of keeping our rooms clean. The concierge was great, leading us to a few good restaurants and the trolley tour (amazing). The only complaint I would have is that when I had booked I made sure that there were cots available, but upon checking in we were told that putting […] the cots in the room would be a fire hazard. "cruising"
I stayed here only because I was leaving on a cruise the next morning. You definitely cannot beat how close the hotel is to the pier. We walked with our luggage across the street (although they do have free shuttle service). They have a free shuttle service to pick you up from the airport, too. The area is just ok for San Diego, but I would stay there […] again for another cruise departure. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Not worth the price!"
For the price was expecting something much nicer. The walls are paper thin, lots of noise from other rooms and planes from airport. Only real nice thing was the free shuttle to the airport, which the drivers should be a little more informative, dropped us off but didn't tell us we had to catch a different shuttle to another part of airport for commuter […] flights! "Needs an update stat"
Location is nice, right across the street from the water and could see an aircraft carrier from the front door. My room was in the second building and when you first walk in there an elevator is right there on your left. It clunked and clanged it's way to my floor. There was a huge hole where a panel used to be inside. Later I found nicer elevators […] a little further into the building on the west side facing the water. I was not the only one to make the mistake after talking to strangers on the elevator on several occasions. No fridge in room, housekeeping does a nice job with what they have there, regular clock radio with no aux for mp3 hook ups, old carpet and bed seemed highly used, free wi-fi was a highlight. Service at the bell station outside was wonderful. These guys tried to find us the best fares for cabs when we were travelling farther afield and hooked us up. Always happy to help. Front desk was helpful when needed. Conconierge(sp) seemed frazzled the one day I went there. Location is good but I saw others in the same price range on Hotels.com that might be a better option until they do the upgrade they desperatley need here. Not bad if you just need a place to sleep and shower. Not a place for a romantic weekend. Construction right now (Feb2013) is LOUD and one morning started at 330 am a few blocks away and then 830 with a jack hammer right outside the front of the hotel. "Not Great"
Hotel is in a good location and views from better rooms are very good. There is no hotel service at all, so there is nothing to comment on. The room air conditioner was broken and the room was very stuffy - the staff knew there was a problem with the air cos when then gave us the room. My husband and I stayed here in January because he had a conference for work. I went along for a little vacation. We stayed 5 days and loved it. Wonderful location with beautiful views of the bay with the Star of India, Anthony's Seafood Grotto, cruise terminals being just across the street. Very affordable. The hotel was clean and staff were friendly, though it took multiple requests to receive service at times. The hotel advertised itself as close to the convention center and Gaslamp District, but really it's either a good distance walk or cab ride. Overall, the hotel was a good deal for the price.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
