This was a decent hotel for the money. It was a weekend and the lobby was ridiculously noisy with a large group for a wedding or family reunion or something. Not a bad stay this time. I tried it again and it was quiter. Don't count on the shuttle from the airport. They told me it was coming and it never did. I got back to the hotel and it was sitting parked!

This hotel is in a wonderful location but it is getting old and needs to be updated. The toilt ran, the windows had not been cleaned in a very long time, door knobs loose, etc.

The hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful - especially the staff in the restaurant. The hotel was clean and well maintained. The location was very helpful to us as we were attending a seminar that was held in their meeting facilities. Overall, we were pleased with our stay.

The location of the hotel is great--downtown and right across the street from the river & park. The building itself, however, feels old and in need of a do-over. The hotel staff wasn't very knowledgeable about surrounding restaurants (though they did provide a list). There's a GREAT breakfast/lunch place within blocks of the hotel who's name eludes me now--sorry. Walking around downtown I saw other chains that we may try next time. Or well-reviewed B&B that's on hotels.com.

Hotel was a great location for the event we attended. The only problem was there was no way to use the stairs if you were going up to your room.....outside doors and they were locked. Exit only.

No problem locating hotel, customer service very good, we found the coffee pot had not been cleaned from previous user. Dinning room service excellent, prices were reasonable for a hotel DR.

I stayed in this hotel mid-way on my trip on account of known weather conditions before I started my trip. The hotel staff were helpful and catered to serving me dinner just around closing time. There is an enclosed garage for parking your vehicles and the price is included in your hotel stay. Overall a good hotel for the price and the treatment you receive.

This hotel has a restaurant. I suppose this is why the complimentary breakfast in the lobby was nearly non-existant. In fact, when we asked for more milk for coffee, we were told "there is already some in there" - the staff person must have been referring to the tablespoon of milk left in the container. I ordered room service for dinner and I thought it was disgusting. The salmon was rock hard on one side, I examined the fish carefully but couldn't figure out how they managed this culinary feat, the mashed potatoes were OK, but the infamous W. VA greenbeans were from a can with what looked like greasy bacon bits mixed in. This dinner was truly gag worthy.

Holiday Inn Charleston House was nothing spectacular, but I've found that none of the hotels in Charleston, WV are. It met my expectations, but definitely did not exceed them. I would recommend anyone going to WV to shop for the least expensive room closest to where you need to be, as there isn't much differentiation among the hotels.

Good Service, Nice rooms! But, the "continental breakfast" was just pastries and coffee. You can buy breakfast for $7 though.

The desk, restaurant and bar service is friendly but slow. the top floor lounge was closed and the internet never connected well enough to get on line. An OK place to stay for leisure, not for business.

The hotel was great. Nice staff, clean, big rooms. Near downtown and overlooks the water--great location with a mall, movie theater, and several restaurants all within walking distance. I will def be back!
