Rodeway Inn San Marcos

Check-in was quick and smooth - the desk clerk was friendly and professional. We travel with a small dog, and the pet fee was only $10/day. The room was clean, the TV and AC worked fine and there were plenty of TV channels. The bed was clean and comfortable. The ice machine also worked fine and was just around the corner from our room. The soundproofing […] was reasonably good - we did not hear the TVs or other noise from surrounding rooms. The hotel is in a fairly safe area where the risk of crime is minimal. We had a lower floor outer room and were able to park our car right outside our door. There is an outdoor pool in a nice inner courtyard area, but we did not try to use it. The reason I gave it a "3" in the "comfort" category was because there was no in-room microwave, fridge, or coffee maker. The breakfast was minimal - coffee, milk, juice, cerial, muffins, and cinnamon rolls. Something non-sweet (toast, bagels) would have been nice as would have fruit (bananas, oranges). The sitting area for breakfast is minimal - 1 table plus a "living room" area with a sofa and chair. During a "peak" breakfast time you'd probably want to just take the stuff to your room. Overall, we got what we paid for - a clean, pet-friendly place to stay for a couple of days at a very reasonable price. We didn't spend much time in the room except to sleep at night. If we were going to spend significant time at the hotel, we would look for a more expensive place with corresponding amenities. Read more

The front desk guy was really nice, when I called for 2 towels I didn't have to go get them he brought them right up to my room, and even tho the pool was closed for season he opened it for me and my friends, also the next day i was late checking out but they were very nice about and did not charge me, the service was amazingly good! Great staff

The hotel has very loud windows. When a door closes, the plexi-glass rattles. The hotel is not of good value in my opinion as I stayed in similar places for much lower cost. This place was a stickler on the check in times... We arrived at 1:45 and asked for our room and they said we had to come back at three no exceptions. We were going tubing so we ended up checking in much later than that. We decided to sleep in the next morning and read, in our room, that the breakfast was served until 10:00am. So we got ready for the […] day and went downstairs at 9:25am. We found the clerk cleaning everything up, when asked why they stopped serving before 9:30 she pointed to the sign on the wall and said breakfast is from 6:30am-9:30am. I am not joking, there was hand made times on a piece of paper taped over the plaque that had the times engraved on there! Basically, change your brochures or tell people at check in. Those two frustrating incidents were by the same day clerk. Besides these two hiccups, the place was better than we expected. It was quiet for a busy Labor Day weekend and the rooms were clean and presentable. The beds left room to be desired but overall it wasn't too bad. Found out that the nice lookin Motel 6 across the street is $15 a night cheaper... Trip Advisor old us this was the cheapest in the area. This was a spur of the moment spontaneous trip so we didn't have time to do our research like we should have. Give this place a try... The issues we had were by the same day clerk. The motel was an absolute disappointment. There was a massive roach leg in the bathroom along with an old moldy cheese it on the floor next to the bed. There was also long black hair everywhere which was not mine or my girlfriends. The shower also had black hair in it as well. Would not recommend staying here again unless you're desperate.

Had all my children and had planned a late check out however the pool, (which is why we choose) was a merky green brown color and was closed. It was the last day of our 42 day vacation before I took them home. We checked out early and I returned them home early with no promissed swimming.

The hotel was conveniently liocated. I arrived at 1 pm and check in was at 3 pm. Other hotels I have visited have let me check in when I arrive. This hotel did not. Luckily I could put my things at my daughter's house. i went and did what I needed to do and did not get in until 10 pm. The room was nice, but the remote did not work.
