"WINCHESTER DAYS INN"
THE ROOMS AND HALLS SMELLED REALLY MUSTY. THE POOLS, BOTH INDOOR AND OUT WERE BOTH CLOSED, AND NO ONE TOLD US BEFORE I BOOKED THE ROOMS. IN THE LATER EVENING, WE WERE SITTING IN OUR ROOM AND LOOKED OVER AND SEEN A MAN IN AN OPEN WINDOW, (THE ROOM WAS DARK), NO LIGHTS ON, LOOKIN ACROSS THE POOL INTO OUR ROOM, THE ROOM WAS UNOCCUPIED SO IT HAD TO BE SOMEONE […] ON STAFF...I WAS VERY DISSIPOINTED. We got in at 1am and left at about 9:30am. The beds were comfortable and the place was clean. It was a little difficult to get to because of construction or whatever was going on there.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I was called a man when I first walked in by the assistant owner--quite obvious I was not of that gender! Was informed he wasn't sure I had a reservation-which I did have. Gripped about hotel.com during entire check-in. Our room was extremely hot--took 2 days to cool off adequately--a/c unit was falling apart. Outlet in room was not attached to the […] wall. Room not cleaned adequately before our arrival--old cigarette butts found on floor. Mold on ceiling of bathroom shower area--no stoppers for sink or bath tub. No remote for tv. Swimming pool was very enjoyable and clean. The cleaning lady that was assigned to our room during our stay was very nice and helpful--she should get a raise!! Will not stay there again--will pick one of the other motels that are situated in same area--have stayed in both before and they were exceptional!! Only reason I stayed at this motel--no rooms available at other motels!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The manager was rude, they had no internet and did not know I had reservations. They tried to charge me twice for my room. The room smelled of dogs and the a/c unit was falling off the wall. Had to have my entry key fixed every day as it would lock me out of the room. Breakfast was terrible and ended at 9:30 am. Room was supposed to have a microwave […] and didn't. The hotel didn't even have a sign. Toilet didn't work, linnen was filty, stained and full of cigarette burns. Overall it was a terrible place and I will never stay there again. "Would like to know name of mattress - extremely comfortable"
There was a pack of cigarettes and coffee cup in one of our rooms. Very hard to find motel - motel sign was on the ground - reserved 2 rooms with 2 king beds and guaranteed - when we got there at 1:30 in the morning - one of the rooms had queen beds rather than king (they did make a small adjustment in price).Genuine Expedia guest review
"Icky, creepy, yucky in Winchester"
Security door propped with rock. Peanut crumbs on nightstand. Debris in sink flaked from faucet. Slow draining tub. Toilet always running. Bedside lamp non functioning. I thought Days Inn had to meet chain standards. Just nasty.Genuine Expedia guest review

"New Ownership has an uphill battle, but a good start..."

I'm a big RRI fan because they are pet friendly, a good value, and clean. However, reading these reviews made me cringe. I called ahead, and made sure I could get a newly remodeled room, and was pleasently surprised. The room was for the most part very clean. It looked like there was a new bed, and the room was freshly painted with newer carpets. Despite being remodeled, there is still work to be done. The tub didn't drain at all and the furniture looks pretty worn. The wifi wasn't working properly either, and my room keypad wasn't working consistently either. There was a coffee maker, but no coffee, and only 1 set of towels. The hallway area still smelled a little smoky, but I know smoke is very hard to get rid of, and could be from a long while back. Despite all this, I think this property is on the way up. The staff was very friendly. The daytime front desk lady was very nice in reserving me a newer room, and the night time front desk gentleman was very nice and accomodating. He had even checked my room before I came to make sure the temperature was right. When I needed more supplies, he quickly took care of it. Since it was only their 3rd night open, there were only a handful of guests staying the night, so it was very quiet. Despite a relatively empty parking lot, I felt safe. Also, they had complimentary newspapers available, which you don't find at most RRI's. No breakfast, but had the coffee going in the morning. It potentially will be one of the few RRI's with a pool, if they get it up and running when it warms up. All in all, this hotel still needs a lot of work - which they acknowledge, and are working to get up to RRI standard. However, I think the quality of the staff says a lot, and the hospitality of who they have already on board makes me belive this place will continue to improve over the next few months. I would definitely try it again to see how this place gets transformed.

Dirty, unfriendly, moldy, buggy...if it hadn't been so late, we would have gone further down the road (The hotel beside this one had no vacancies). The clerk made us move a working refrigerator to our room but at least he did allow us to move to a room with working air conditioning! The breakfast was dreadful, just leave it at that. Worst of all, the corporation didn't respond to my letter of complaint so I am doing what I can to warn people to stay away from this location - I will not stay at another facility at all.
"Basic clean comfortable motel"

I was traveling with my husband to meet up our family in NC. We read abt natural bridge in KY & decided to stop in Winchester to explore this area and our outdoor activity. We saw three motels close by but soo much difference in price!!!!! I always go with " value for money". We decided to stay at Royal Express Inn. Even though, I was worried after reading some bad reviews, this place was really good. It was half price compared to both neighboring motels. Our room was nice and met our expectations. Front desk guy was very nice & friendly. Nice bed, tv, and shower. No complaints. Breakfast was basic. Past negative reviews do not give a realistic picture of the standard of service now (front guy told us- there is change in management now). Good value for money and had good night sleep. We really enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to return.
"Not as bad as they say!!"
My husband & I travel through Winchester a few times a year. This was our 1st stay at the Royal Inn. We will definitely keep coming back. I think the only problem with this placw is it needs to be renovated. The location is great, the rooms and beds are big, the front desk is very friendly, & the linens were very clean.
"just a place to stay"

"The Place should be shut down"

I was driving from Nevada to New Hampshire moving my brother. Stopped later in the night and got 2 rooms. Went to the first room and was a little worried was very dingy, but was so tired thought I would suck it up until I found ants in both the bathroom and the bed. I called the manager and he came up grabbed my suitcase and moved me down the hall and left the room before I could look around. There were at least no bugs but the chairs were stained there was a lamp with a glass table around it that had coffee spilled on it that had not been cleaned. The tray with the ice bucket had a dead bug lying on it, the air conditioner didn't work. I tried to call my brother to just leave but couldn't wake him, sat up most of the night because I couldn't leave and couldn't even sleep in the truck because he had the keys. To add insult to injury when I went to speak with the manager in the morning he wasn't apologetic and said I should have just left.

We were given a room in the back part of the property by an unfriendly front desk clerk. The heater never did warm up the room. Exhausted I ended up sleeping with my coat on. The room didn't look very clean either. We didn't even have shampoo. My parents stayed in another room. My mother said the iron was dirty. When she used it on her pants it stained them. Don't believe the positive reviews they were obviously written by the manager or his friends.
"It serves it's purpose."
if you are really tired and exhausted, then this establishment will provide for you what you need which is a good nights rest. if you are looking for quality that is 3 and above, then this is certainly not the place you want to be. I pulled into this hotels around 3:30 a.m. after trying several hotels in Lexington but they were all booked and this was my only option. However I did sleep well and now I'm back on the road. I guess it's safe to say right now that I survive the night and the experience. Very nice staff person.
