Holiday Inn Rapid City-Rushmore Plaza - Rapid City

I had some issues with the AC/Heat, but nothing major. I like that this hotel is pretty much in the parking lot to the Civic Center. I don't have to worry about a parking, since the car is already parked, and I can just walk over to the Civic Center (<1min). I didn't use any amenities nor eat at the hotel, but overall, it was a good stay.

The location of the hotel worked out perfectly for what we wanted to do and see around Rapid City. Room was spotless, beds are very comfortable. I thought it was a nice touch to have a range of pillow firmness so that you could pick the one you like. Breakfast buffet on the first day was OK. We chose to eat elsewhere for the rest of our stay.

Liked having the nearby park for an early morning walk before I hit the road. The rooms are older so hooking up electronics is not as convenient as at a newer hotel. My vehicle received an overnight bath by the irrigation system which left behind annoying water spots.

Very nice staff. Quiet room and overall decent, but would try another hotel next time in area. My best price reserved ahead was somewhat higher than the person checking in before me. Bathroom needed some maintenance....bad grout and back of wood bathroom door was pretty sad shape. Bathroom was tiny, even for one person. Almost standing in the commode […] to use the sink. From the picture the room looked bigger for a suite but we managed to do some rearranging to fit the hide a bed and still be able to walk. The hotel was very good about giving us another room after we got there because we reserved non smoking rooms but that was not the case when we went to unpack. Hotel was a great starting point for our trip to all the sites! The breakfast was decent and a nice way to start our journey each morning. Hot tub and pool were wonderful liked that they stayed open for use late. Staff was helpful and friendly. Would stay again if ever in the area again.

Everything went well on this trip. I want to suggest to the Holiday Inn - why can't you have live plants and trees in the common area on the first floor. Many hotels have live plants and trees now, and I think it would be good at this hotel since it is located alongside the convention complex in Rapid City.

This is a convention center/atrium type facility. Overall condition is good. Unfortunately, the AC went out while we were there, but it was repaired fairly quickly. The facility appeared to be only lightly booked while we were there. I would be concerned about the possibility of noise off of the atrium reaching the rooms if the facility were full. Staff […] was appropriate and helpful. Facility was overall clean and in good repair. Unfortunately, the management has not realized that we all travel with items that need to be recharged. Pool was so cold my kids did not want to go into it after the 2nd night (we were there for 5 nights). Asked hotel staff if could turn temp higher, but they have regulations to follow. King Plaza Suite was really small and had mold in the ceiling tiles. Staff was extremely nice and responsive. Wouldn't stay there again for the price we paid.

We enjoyed the pool, sauna, and work out room very much. SD is having unusually hot weather and our room was a little warn and would not cool down as much as we would have liked. that was the only down side to our stay. However, putting that aside, we would stay their again.

I stayed here 2 times. The first time everything was great. The second time 5 days later the air conditioning in the room went out. when I called a man came up to check and then he changed my room to one that was cool.

Considering that is a large Holiday Inn next to the convention center, they appeared to have a substantial number of rooms available. We were put on the second floor looking out on the roof containing all the airconditioning units. Since we were tired and only staying 2 nights, we took the room. The next morning we went down to breakfast and were seated […] immediately. But, the was the extent of the service. We waited 10 minutes, when no server or coffee arrived, we left. I reported it to the person who sat us, and she said she was sorry....I told her that it appeared that they expected customers to go to the buffet, which we told here when seated we didn't want to do. I also reported the service to the front desk, and they seems ambivolent to the complaint. So much for Holiday Inn in the future. Read more

I'm traveling with my beagle and the staff were very welcoming. The hotel room was comfortable and clean. There are a lot of grassy areas to walk the dog. There are no rooms on the first floor, so we stayed on the second and took the glass elevator down each time we had to go out - my dog didn't mind, but some may. Our little guy was sick and we had to visit the Urgent Care (instead of Reptile Gardens) this past weekend, but the Holiday Inn at Rushmore Plaza was wonderful. They granted us not one, not two, but THREE extensions on a late checkout. Thank you sooooooooo much!

I picked this for the centralized location to the town. Since there's not much to do in the Keystone Mt Rushmore, and Custer Crazy Horse area, this is a nice place with swimming pool and hot tub to relax. Surprisingly, there are enough of ethnic cuisines in Rapid City; and they are pretty good. There are at least 3 Starbucks in town in the vicinity. […] This hotel is couple long blocks within walking distance to downtown for all the presidents' life-sized statuesi. We are out most of the time, no issue when we are back during the stay. Oh, pretty big room with small bathroom design; shower is comfy. I had spent the previous 2 nights in Hot Springs, but wanted a head start driving back east on I-90, so decided to stay in Rapid City the final night. This is a nice hotel. I was stayed in early Sept, so it wasn't as crowded as it may be in the summertime. […] There is a bar and wine shop in the lobby. 2 glass elevators with a waterfall that pours down 6 floors. The rooms were clean and the pool was decent. It was a typical Holiday Inn, I think. It's nice, but you can certainly find a cheaper room elsewhere that is just as nice. There are no 'inclusive freebies' here. If you want breakfast, you have to pay for it. We didn't want to eat breakfast at the hotel, so we checked out and found breakfast at a nice bagel shop/cafe, called Black Hills Bagels, which I thought was excellent. Read more

The hotel was pretty good, overall. We had to stay with our dogs as we were driving across the country for a move, and they made it very easy for us. They didn't act like the dogs were a hassle and were very friendly overall. The room was missing some wallpaper, but it was great overall.

This is an older hotel that has seen it's day. The rooms are very large, but lacking in common upgrades. Two televisions, but no flat screen. Beds were very comfortable though. Near downtown for restaurants beyond the highway chains. Nothing memorable here.

Room and everything was great, but really didn't enjoy hiking down four flights of stairs with a bad knee at 5:40 in the morning due to a false fire alarm! Staff really didn't seem to think it was a big deal, but I did! Not so much as a free muffin or cookie as a token of apology.
