Downtown Erie Hotel - Erie

The Erie Hotel needs some improvements to it overall. It was very dated. The sheets had cigarette burns in them and the wall in the bathroom had a big hole in it that wasn't repaired. The door to the room didn't shut tightly and there wasn't a mini refrigerator in the room to store anything in although it was listed in the amenities.

Check in was okay, we showed up at 1:30 and were told that the rooms were probably not ready so we came back at 2:30 and were told that they should be ready and were given the keys. When we got up to the rooms the cleaning ladies were still in them, we didn’t mind and they only took about 5 more minutes in the first room. Upon entering the room is smelled […] like smoke, and I mean it smelt like someone was blowing smoke directly into my face – it was really nasty and this was the “non-smoking room”, there was no exhaust fan in the bathroom so we got to experience the smell for a few hours. The room is very basic, the linens “looked” clean in 2 of the rooms but the third room had a brown stain on the pillow case. However, the comforters looked like they hadn’t been washed since they were bought and I didn’t see any new or used ones on the cleaning ladies carts – so this lead me to believe that they aren’t washed The rooms do have a microwave and fridge which is nice if you need one, the bathroom is average, nothing fancy. My friends and I all came for the Erie Beer Fest and this hotel is extremely close to it. There are plenty of bars around this hotel which is nice. The hotel leaves a lot to be desired… its run down and old but a place to sleep if you need one. I’m not sure I would stay here again though. Read more

The hotel service was good we had a light out and it was fixed within 10 mins and the front desk clerk was very nice. It was only one block away from the comedy club and a few blocks away from a ton of bars. A two minute drive from the bayfront look out points. There is no other purpose to stay here other than just to lay your head and sleep before you spend your days out. Apparently there is a policy where if 2 or less people stay in the room you cannot have the king size room which you booked 2 weeks before. They claimed to not have a king bed room available ended up with a 2 double bed room. What do I need […] two beds for!? Such an illogical policy. Hotel was centrally located and at a very reasonable price. Lobby and staff at the desk were clean and friendly and well presented. The rooms wing of the hotel is VERY dated and retrofitted from an older externally accessed motel with storm windows over the hallway on the outside that whistled in the wind all night long. The heat had been shut off and […] it was colder in the room than outside. Took all night running on high to get the room up to 70 degrees in the morning. I checked in about 5:30 pm got settled and left with the heater running on high and returned about midnight. It was still cold in the room. The room it self was ok but needed redoing. The bed carpet was older and there was a gap in the middle of the floor were I presume the concrete flooring had separated but the vacuum they ran would not reach and you could trip on it. The bathroom was not cleaned as the toilet was dirty. The shower did not work well either but looked clean. In looking for an outlet for my cell phone near the bed the layers of dust were thick enough that is was apparent that the furniture had not been moved to completely clean the room in a long time. I had a long day and was looking for a place to snooze. This worked but that is about all that I can say. It is an older property located in the middle of old downtown Erie, PA. Would appear to date from the late fifties or early sixties. Some rail noise from the tracks down the street.

Due to the condition of the room I called a nearby hotel, who had an available room, and we left to stay at the other hotel. The other hotel was less expensive to stay for the night, but the room were MUCH nicer to stay.

There was green algae growing on the sides of the pool and the water was very cloudy, so we did not use it. This hotel has already seen its best days. The owners are apparently not interested in upkeep or cleanliness. The telephone in the room was coated with greasy ditt. It obviously had not been cleaned in months. The pool was green and stunk. Duct tape was used on the staircase. When the elevator did work we were afraid to use it. There was NO ventilation […] in the bathroom. Carpets were filthy. Paint was peeling. Didn't find out about breakfast until last morning there. Nothing was offered worth going into the rundown room to get. The restaurant on the property was about Taco Bell quality. They turned the music really loud to get us to leave - we were the only customers. The fridge in the room was rusty. The neighborhood was rough. But it was close to the Courthouse. this hotel was very disappointing. It was very run down and not particularly clean. The furniture was beat up, the decor was unattractive and the bath towels were nothing more than large hand towel. Further more, there were not enough of them. we had reserved a room for 4 people and there were only 2 sets of towels. there were no cups for the coffee […] or drinking glasses. I thought the hotel and room was very clean, affordable, and comfortable. We had a relaxing stay, despite the neighborhood, it was quiet and peaceful. Our trash was taken out, beds were made, and floors were vaccumed every day. The location was great and very close to Presque Isle beaches. The only downside to our stay is that our side of the hotel […] did not get Wi-Fi so we would have to go to the hotel lobby to get on the internet. My family and I loved our experience and stay. The location was perfect with respect to where we were traveling each day. The biggest complaint I had was the lack of house keeping for two straight days. We had to ask for towels and other essentials a couple times, but we were never refused anything. If all you're looking for is a clean bed and shower, this place will work for you.

Procrastinated at finding a hotel for our family getaway...well we paid for it. Although easy to find, I prefer not to find it again. The owner waited on us at the front desk. He asked our name, handed us our key and sent us on our way. He never verified our id. I thought that was standard. Dissatisfied. Had requested a microwave and refrigerator, but when we got to the room there was none. There was absolutely no maid/room service. The rooms were never taken care of during the duration of my stay. All I wanted were clean towels each day. I didn't need my bed linens changed. This place isn't even a hotel, its just a motel with plastic widows in order to make it fully enclosed. The light in our room didn't work had to wait for maintenance to fix them.
