Beautiful room close proximity to the Pittsburgh International Airport. We requested a room with two beds booked through the online site. What an find. We had a horrible medical situation and I had just gotten out of four days in ICU. We where driving from Washington DC to Ann Arbor, MI and decided to stay in Pittsburgh, PA overnight. We stayed here while in town for an event. This hotel is in a great location, easy to get to and a short distance from shopping and restaurants. The rooms are very clean, comfortable beds, nicely decorated and spacious. We checked in late (~1:30am) and we were given a wheelchair accessible room with 2 double beds. We booked, and paid for a king room. When I called down to reception I was told there were no King rooms available and you were NOT guaranteed a specific room- Why is there a different rate for different rooms if this was not taken into account and respected. […] With this being a wheelchair accessible room the bathroom "floods" when you take a shower, as the drain is in the middle of the bathroom floor, not the shower floor. I called reception to again explain I was not satisfied with this room and again I was told that there was nothing that could be done. I was terrified I would slip on the wet floor in the middle of the night and used 6 bath towels to dry the floor! The friends who we checked in with were given a King room when they booked 2 double beds and there was people in the room they checked into! It was not a very happy outcome. "Not very accommodating"
We had a late flight (1am) so I called ahead of time to make sure a shuttle would be available, and I was assured it would be. However, when I called once we landed, the receptionist said the shuttle stopped at 1. I told her that I had specifically asked about that time the night before and was assured a ride. She said there was nothing she could do. […] I haled a cab, but since the airline lost my 5 year old's booster seat, no cabby would help us. Finally, at 2am, a nice cabby took the risk and gave us a ride, which cost us $20. If I had known this would happen, I would not have chosen this hotel. I was offered a breakfast meal ticket to compensate for the inconvenience, but since we did't even get into our room until 3am, being up in time for breakfast was un likely, especially with a five year old on jet lag. Needless to say, I was pretty disappointed and wished I would have gone with another hotel. It is also a joke that they do not offer free wifi. You have to pay $12.95 a day to use it. "Very nice atmosphere, clean, friendly, bright."
There were only 2 little things that bothered me at this hotel. 1. The toilet paper in our bathroom kept falling off the holder. 2. The fire route plaque on the wall on the 6th floor by the elevators was installed crooked. "Had to cut my stay short"
The stay at the Marriott was really good. However, I have to complaints: 1) The hotel was advertised on your website as having a sauna. It did not have a sauna. I did call your customer service department and a refund was order on the last two nights I was due to stay at the hotel, which was great. However, I had the inconvenience of having to book […] another hotel, and pay an extra $21.96. And 2), I had to get some work done between 8PM-10PM, but the internet was not working properly. "Best breakfast ever"
The Marriott standard of two double beds or a king with rollaways doesn't really suit 2 adults and 2 kids - I ended up on the floor after a few hours with my fidgeting 11 year old. I wish Marriott had rooms with 2 queen beds - next time we will go for the king, and bring two air mattresses for the kids! We got breakfast included in our room fee, though, […] and it was amazing - the BUFFET has made-to-order omelettes and waffles, and there are also plenty of fruits, cereals and other hot dishes. We swam in the pool and used the hot tub twice - once on check in night, and once the next morning before check out (which is nice and late at 12pm). The hotel is NOT on the airport grounds so you are assured a great night's sleep. Their shuttle van is prompt on departure AND pick-ups, AND you can arrange to have your car parked on THEIR site while you fly to another destination!
