Holiday Inn Alton (Lewis&clark Trail Site) - Alton

Overall was a good stay with only a couple inconveniences. After a 45 minute wait for the hot tub we got in only to find it lukewarm, not hot. Also the breakfast, which is an extra charge when booking the room was mediocre at best. The quiche was not cooked all the way through, the French toast sticks were stale and the biscuits burned.

Staff was excellent and this is definitely one of the best hotels in the area but here are a few downsides- 1. Pool/atrium noise was very loud in the room. 2. Definitely an older hotel and the rooms reflect that 3. Never enough towels in the pool area for everyone (20 ppl in the pool and 3 towels) 4. Everything about this hotel was better than expected: the room was very clean, modern and comfortable; towels were fluffy and not thin from use. Unexpectedly, there was a fridge in the room. It's located in such a place that you're near everything (restaurants, stores) but off the highway so you don't get the street noise. At first, we thought the continual slamming door was the room across or next to us, and all night, on the hour, the door slammed hard and loud. So disruptive was this, that I was very close to knocking the door of the room next door and ask them what kept them going in and out. Then I heard the slam, followed by faint footsteps downstairs, and realized, it was people going up and down the stairs all night. I got minimal sleep. Service friendly. Room was fine. Dog barking in room across hall was annoying. First time that's happened at this place. We have stayed here half a dozen times and it's usually fine. Main thing is if you want quiet, request a room away from the open lobby/pool area.

We intentionally booked this hotel for it's advertised hot tub even though there were other rooms for less money in the same area. When we arrived after a long drive, we found the hot tub to be ice cold. We asked the desk clerk if she could have someone adjust the temperature. After returning from dinner, we checked again and it was still ice cold. […] When we approached the clerk again, she acted like she couldn't find anyone to tell about it. wE WERE ON THE TOP FLOOR AND THE FIRST ROOM WE WERE IN HAD STANDING WATER ALL OVER THE BATHROOM COUNTER FROM A ROOF LEAK. WHen we got off the elevator there were buckets in the hallway to catch all the roof leaks

I stay at this hotel about once a month and normally have no issues. My most recent stay was not as pleasant as previous stays because my shower was falling apart and did not drain properly. Additionally, I was in a dead zone for both AT&T and Verizon (which is not the hotels fault).

I booked online because there was a free breakfast but the desk clerk was unaware of this and said there was no free breakfast. He eventually honored it but it was embarrassing and after all that the breakfast was not that great.

Room was very loud, could here everything in the next room. Was also placed next to pool which was extremely loud till 11pm. We where not warned or given the option when we checked in. Breakfast was free but cold.

I stayed here with my daughter and 2 grandkids during the last week of March on a Wed. evening. It was a great time of the year because most of the area schools weren't on spring break like we were and so we had the pool to ourselves. We had a great dinner (bourbon glazed pork chops--huge serving!!!) Very nice!! Clean hotel, easy to find.

Nice hotel. Room was clean, well-sized. Friendly, helpful staff. Breakfeast buffet was very good (had to pay a nominal fee). Beds were a little soft for my liking, but nothing outrageous. Nothing stood out negatively.
