We stayed in some places that were really motels, but this is a proper hotel, with a large lobby, lifts etc. There was a bit less space in the rooms than in some places, but locals said this was common in the New York area. The shuttle bus from the hotel to Manhattan was $5 per person each way, so with 6 of us, we drove. It is also a limited service. The Lincoln Tunnel is close but has an $8 toll going into the city. Parking was $30 per day. The hotel is a little difficult to drive to, but a kind man showed us that the side exit gave simple access to the tunnel.

Had to have new key cards made 2 days in a row for 1 of our 2 rooms. Cafe OK, one muffin was moldy, they said it was just delivered. Cafe staff was very nice. No exhaust fan in bathroom so it got steamy after shower. Clean, comfortable, easy access to city. Free wifi which is not always free. We did not use shuttle as too expensive for 5 of us. We drove in and parked for less.

My room was not ready when I arrived, so I had to wait in the lobby for about 20-25 minutes. While I waited the hotel manager tried to get me to take a room with a queen bed instead of the king I reserved, which was in the back of the hotel and very dark, for the same price as the king in the front. The lobby roof was leaking and looked pretty bad and there was also some work being done in the front, so we could not pull up to the front when checking in. There was lots of dust and just an over-all less than clean feel. The street out front was also under construction which gave the already crappy looking neighborhood an even worse appearance. I wouldn't stay there again unless it was an emergency.

I stayed here for a business trip to NYC.. in September 2009...a comparable room in Manhattan would have been at least an extra $200-$300 per night. The hotel and room I stayed in was recently remodeled and quite comfortable. Friendly hotel staff and very good breakfast (not free but reasonable) in lobby. There is a convenient shuttle that runs back and forth to the city several times per day for $6 one-way or $12 round trip which I though was a good deal. On one of the days I was not able to take advantage of the shuttle because i needed to be in the city by 7:30am. I was able to walk a few blocks (uphill!) to the nearby post office where I caught a bus to the Port Authority station in Manhattan for $2.50. Not much in the area in terms of restaurants and you might not feel comfortable walking around alone after dark...but this is a great option for business or vacation if you just need a clean, safe, and affordable place to sleep at night.

The room was large enough but was not as clean as I expected. It did not have enough room A/C outlets. The sink cold water facet ran slowly therefore when the hot water was turned on it was hard to regulate and the toilet tank flush handle was broken. Although, the brochure mentioned a restaurant and lounge on the 12th floor it did not have liquor license and could not serve refreshment. The mattress in our room on the 5th floor needed to be replaced as it made a noise with every sleep movement.

The first night we got there we had no hot water. The bath tub had hair left in it because it had not been cleaned. The bed the same way had someones black hair left in it because the sheets were not changed.gross I left it go wiped down the tub and bed.We got hot water after about an hour of telling the desk o.k. fine.Woke up the next morning to no hot water. I asked for compensation for the trouble the man told me I would get $20.00 back on my card when I checked out I asked to make sure that happened the next day when we left ,he told me that it was prepaid and he could do nothing about it so I got nothing for my trouble other then a lie. Great The shuttle is part of the hotel service. The shuttle cost is $6.00 a person to go into new york and $6.00 to come back and they have to know the time you are coming back or extra cost.We only stayed two nights the second night the shuttle got stopped by the police. The driver had a suspended license so we had to wait for a new driver. Not what I expected at all.

I liked the hotel. I would have rated it very high had it not been for the following reason: The hotel was advertised as having a shuttle into New York city, but did not mention that there was a fair cost associated. The hotel manager provided excellent customer service. I would certainly stay here again, but would factor in travel costs into the city when making the decision.

One of the best parts is that they have a shuttle bus that brings you to the city and then brings you back. And, if you are tired from all that walking, you can call the guy that runs the bus on his cell phone and he'll come and pick you up. The breakfast cafe is outstanding also. First of all - this hotel is beautiful. The remodeling that was done gives the hotel a very classy look to it. The room was spacious and very nicely decorated - particularly the bathroom which looked like something out of a home improvement magazine. There is a restaurant that we ate breakfast in each day - I had the best omelet I've ever eaten in this restaurant. Very friendly wait staff as well. The best part about this hotel, however, is the shuttle service to New York City. Very affordable and eliminates the need to drive into the city. The shuttle itself warrants a five star review.
