The hotel was located just perfectly. A quick trip to downtown about 5 minutes. The front desk help was fabulous. Unfortunately the room and condition of the hotel was below standard. First room upon arriving at 11 PM was stale and moldy smelling. Staff immediately responsive and changed our room which was some better but still a bit stale. Internet doesn't work consistently on 5th floor. Carpet doesn't seem as clean as it could be. Hotel clearly undergoing some renovations or has had recent damage but didn't see "pardon me" signs […] to explain molding off in hallways, baseboards, etc. No Diet Coke in any machine - not a big deal unless that is your morning "coffee". Definitely worth the savings. The hotel is situated in between downtown Charleston and Sullivan's Island / The Beach.. The drive across the bridge to get to downtown is not bad. The hotel was great. "Air conditioner dismantled upon arrival"
Room not ready, very hot outside and hot inside due to air conditioner not working. Given another room for the night and were promised scheduled room the next AM. Another room not ready until 2 PM and we lost an entire morning of vacation waiting on room change. The keys to the rooms do not maintain their codes and we had to have them recoded 5 different […] times. This is a pain when you are on the top floor at the far end of the hallway. The pool could be nice but they do not care for it from one weekend to the next. It became very dirty and we were afraid to get into the water as we did not want to become ill. You had to pass through the food serving area of the dining room to get to the pool area, very unsanitary having people pass by food to be consumed by others. let me start with the night of the 27th of May. This was the night of our 13th wedding anniversary We decided to stop at the hotel bar for some drinks before going to our room. This was about 8 PM. When we arrived the bar tender seemed generally put of by our presence. He announced that he would be with us soon. With a group of 4 sitting at a table […] and another single customer sitting at the bar this should not have taken long. He threw away some small items, rearranged some items on the bar and after a couple of minutes he got around to us. My wife ordered a strawberry daiquiri to which she was informed that the blender was broken. My wife then asked for "Moscato". The response was "Don't Got it" a wine cooler "don't got it" she gave up and ordered a diet cola. I then ordered a Morgan and coke and received a rum substitute. After we finished half our drinks we left the money on the bar and went to our rooms. Our evening plans dashed. The vending machine on the 4th floor was empty, the vending machine on the 3rd floor was broken. There was no vending on the 2nd floor. Our room smelled like rotten apples but we were not to put off. Another issue was a 75 cent charge for making a call. When we asked why the charge we were told it was long distance. The call was to dominos pizza and they delivered in less then 30 minutes. "Terrible WIFI Connection For Business Travelers"
Everything was fine except the Hotel list that you have "High Speed Wireless Internet" available in the room. This is absolutely not true. The 4 days I was there I could never get on the Internet with a connection of more that 8 mbps which is terrible...most of the time I could not even get connected. This was probably the worst Holiday Inn I've ever stayed in. I called for a wake-up call and the phone was never answered (I let it ring for over 10 minures). I then tried to call the General Manager who never answered; therefore, I left him a voice mail message expressing my dissatisfaction.
