"Choo choo review"
We enjoyed our stay. We upgraded to a train room upon arrival and it was really neat to stay in an actual train car. It was rather outdated but that is what you would have to expect when staying in a renovated train car!Genuine Expedia guest review

"Does not honor room level purchased"
At check in we discovered that although we had been told by Hotel.com we qualified for an upgrade to the Victorian rail car suite if we prepaid, we were billed an extra $100.00 for the room. When we asked the manager she told us too bad. If we did not like it we could always not stay. I asked if we got a refund and was told no. The room was nice , but […] the manager was very rude and although we love the train car rooms, we feel cheated. We wont be staying at Choo Choo again. I don't like being called a liar by someone whose job is to make sure our stay is supposed to be good. She cost the hotel a bunch of money, not only from us in the future, but by anyone I can warn. Choo Choo does not honor commitments made by its resellers. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Chattanooga Choo Choo From our Guest Service Manger; Guest arrived on the evening of our power outage. His reservation was received from Hotels.com at 9p and we checked him in at 9:40p. We didn’t have any traincars upgrades available that night. The rate is was for a standard room from Hotels.com. We didn’t receive any more than that for upgrades. No one was called a liar!! "Good location for all downtown attractions."
I liked the location of the Choo Choo. The most attractive feature was the free electric shuttle to all downtown attractions. I believe it ran from 9 AM through ~11 PM weekdays and maybe later on the week end. This afforded me the opportunity to see the attractions in the downtown area even though I didn't go to many of them. The hotel itself was well […] kept considering the age. I connected with a few of the staff who had been there for over 20 years. This was impressive. The rooms were ok. Clean, bug free, standard amenities. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Not worth it"
Not worth it. The indoor pool reeked of chlorine. Just very old school, the rooms were okay. The outside & lobby were nice tho.Genuine Expedia guest review

This hotel is a fun place to stay and experience. The main lobby and garden area are wonderful and beautiful. The staff is very attentive and helpful and were always there to help with any of your needs. The pools are a lot of fun for the kids to play and use up that extra energy.Genuine Expedia guest review

Not much of a train enthusiast, but wanted to experience the Chattanooga Choo Choo. The lobby is beautiful and you can feel the history. The service was good. However, the rooms were and pools are not impressive and the hallways are not air conditioned. Our shower had a crack in the wall and it smelled mildewy. We didn't eat there, instead we ventured […] out to local restaurants of which there are many wonderful ones in the downtown area. I would not recommend it for a romantic getaway unless you are totally into trains and don't mind a bare bones room. Not luxurious in the least. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Pleasant surprise in the heart of the city"
Although we had visited the Choo Choo grounds previously, we had never stayed there. We stayed in the last building far from the street and it was quiet and well kept. The pool was a pleasant surprise. The waterfall sound was pleasing. The room was large and comfortable. This was a stopover on the way to Gatlinburg, but our next visit will be more than […] a one-night stay. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Response by Chattanooga Choo Choo Thanks for choosing to stay with us on your way to Gatlinburg. The building that you stated in is requested by repeat guests due to the waterfall, pool and large balcony areas. I am thrilled to hear that your stay was a success and pleasant surprise. Thank you sharing that you will come back and stay for multiple nights. We look forward to your return. Regards, Jill Quality Assurance
"Fun sleeping in a train car"
Stayed here to have the experience of staying in a vintage train car. There was plants of room, except when we pulled out the trundle. Overall, a very good experience. This hotel has regular hotel rooms, as well.Genuine Expedia guest review
Response by Chattanooga Choo Choo Great comments! We are so glad you were able to stay in one of our signature railcar rooms. They are quite popular and requested by repeat guests year after year. I agree that the downtown shuttle, located adjacent to us, is nice to park your car and ride the shuttle. Come back for another great experience. All the best, Jim Bambrey GM
we would for sure stay there again it was overall nice, affordable, and clean. a few problems though internet was terrible, all you can eat breakfast bar was over priced 45.00 for 3. kids under 12 stayed in the hot tub unsupervised there was no adult time at all for it. pool was nice and room service did a great jobGenuine Hotels.com guest review
What a fun place to stay! After driving 15 hours it was really nice to pull up to the Chattanooga Hotel and have so many different things to see! The gardens were lovely and so peaceful. The lobby is awesome. Our room was absolutely heavenly! Walking the grounds was delightful and we loved seeing the sleeper cars. We noticed that each pool was sparkling […] clean and a bit different from each other. How nice you can choose whichever one that suits your fancy to swim in! We were a bit concerned about noise from the pool when we were ready to go to bed, but, it was absolutely quiet when the pool closed and we got a good night's sleep. Really nice place for all ages. "Great location, rooms need to be updated."
Room was quaint. We had three children, the two double beds made it a little cramp when sleeping. Our smallest loves trains, so this was the ideal spot for him. Centrally located to most of Chattanooga. 15 minute drive to the top of Lookout mountain, 10 minute drive to the aquarium, 15 minute drive to Lake Winnie, etc..Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Me and my husband agreed to stay here because of its historical value despite its already 3 star rating. We have two small children and thought this would be awesome to stay in an old train station. But we were very disappointed. There is so much potential in the design and upkeep of this place, and yet they let it stay so old and boring. We stayed […] in the #3 building. The beds were very small, and very uncomfortable. Me and my husband couldn't fit on one together, so we had to sleep separate and put the kids in the floor, and there is nothing worse then having a bad nights sleep when your on vacation. All the rooms face the pool, and the sliding balcony door does nothing to stifle the sounds that come from the people at the pool (there was a girls softball team staying there and every night they would be at the pool screaming and carrying on well into the night, I finally had to call the front desk to ask them to shut them up) If they are going to have all the rooms face the pool they should put in more sound proof doors! The pool was neat, it had a water fall and a hot tub. The hot tub was not hot, nor very bubbly and the pool was freezing cold, which I don't think they can do much for an outdoor pool. A PLUS, we ate at the Garden restaurant for their breakfast buffet every morning while we were there and we enjoyed it. We also ate at the Station House restaurant where you get huge plates of food and listen to the staff perform songs, it was very entertaining. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Response by Chattanooga Choo Choo I am sorry about the problems that you experienced during your stay. We did have a softball group in-house during your stay but I don’t know of any other noise complaints. However, that shouldn’t have happened. We have 24 hour security on property to handle any guests concerns and monitor the property throughout the night. I will forward your comments to the department head for follow up. We will use your comments to continue to improve our product and service. It is nice to hear that you enjoyed our dining venues; the Station House and Garden’s Restaurant. Please give us another try. "The rating doesn't include *atmosphere*"
The room was clean but nothing special. But the hotel itself is just cool. It's a converted train station! The lobby is gorgeous, and the whole place is fun to walk around. The garden area is lovely, the food in the Garden restaurant was very good. There are several restaurants to choose from, but being there only one night we didn't try more than the […] one. There are also three pools and the hotel is right in downtown so lots of things within walking distance. Anyway, considering we could have had this or an ordinary contemporary hotel for the same price, I think it was well worth it. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

We enjoyed our night staying in one of the train cars. Room was comfortable, clean and a nice place to stay. There are a few quirks but remember it is an old train car! "Historic hotel in downtown Chattanooga"
I stayed here for a weekend with my boyfriend. We really enjoyed the hotel, it was very historic with trains and a nice pool. We stayed in building 3, which looks sort of like a prison. But our room was nice and we enjoyed it! It is definitely older than most hotels, but you definitely get a better experience than staying in a typical Holiday Inn. "Old and historic, but old and decrepit."
Loved the historic details, but historic does not have to mean old, broken, dated or dirty looking. For example, the woodwork on the historic old doors should be kept clean and freshly painted; same for the moldy bathroom ceiling. The safety latch on the adjoining door in the room was broken. The property had a bad sewerage type smell. The elevator […] was old and a little scary. It was good value for the money, we enjoyed the history, but would rather have paid a little more for a nicer hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Response by Chattanooga Choo Choo Thank you for appreciating the history of the Choo Choo. I am surprised to hear that you felt the property is decrepit, pretty harsh... However, we continue to work on updating. On average, we invest between $1.5-3 million a year in maintaining and upgrading the property. However, it is unacceptable that your room wasn’t properly ready for your arrival. That will be shared with the rooms division for the future. We hope you will visit us again. I paid $168.00 and you get an average room like any these days. Dinner in the Gardens restureant with tip was $100.00. There was myself and my two young sons,no appetizer, no adult beverages country fried steak and sweet tea and desert. Breakfast the next morning was $50.00...three buffets. The french toast wasn't even real french toast. It was that frozen […] crap you buy for your kids. The actual terminal was very nice and worth seeing. so I suggest that you stay somewhere else and just go sight see at the choo-choo. "Old but clean"
The hotels are very old and dated but clean. I loved the free shuttle to down town. I didn't have to pay $9/day in parking to go to the aquarium and other activities but the hotel charges $6 a night for parking. Great staff. Great indoor pool.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Wow awesome place"
Only stayed one night , but not able to see everything about hotel. Huge ...free bus next to hotel to take to town parking lot is big but full and hard to figure out buildings at night. We needed more time to see everythingGenuine Expedia guest review
the atmosphere was nice. The accommodations where decent. The hours of the pool were to long. We had a room next to it and the teams staying there didn't leave until 11 pm on the dot. Hard to get sleep. the eclair was not fresh.Genuine Expedia guest review
When I walked in the lobby of this hotel, I was in awe. To see how they have kept the original train depot was a great surprise. Our room did have an odd oder to it, but overall it was a good size and the bed slept well. The pool looked fun, but due to the amount of children in the hot tub, we did not get to enjoy that. "Train off the track."
I booked this hotel vice a name brand and I paid the price for it. The Chattanooga Choo-Choo was very disappointing: at check-in we were issued a room which the cleaning person was still in the process of cleaning, we had to call down and wait for them to bring us a key to a different room, the whole facility needs a face lift (painting, carpet, air-conditioners, […] wall paper) our building was number three and we were on the third floor...the first thing you notice upon entry to this floor is the large spot on the carper were the ice machine has poured out onto the floor, also the lack of air conditioning in the hall way and peeling wall paper. Our rooms bathroom had a leaking toilet and running rust in the bathtub area...I spoke with the manager on duty that evening and she said someone would come up to fix the leak...no one came and thus I rate this hotel as a disappointment. On the bright side...it has a lovely garden area and nice pool. This hotel has potential, but it needs better care to make it stand out. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"A must if you are a train enthusiast!"
When I pulled up hotels in Chattanooga and saw this one was in an old train station I knew we had to stay here. We were just driving through and staying one night. The train station holds the lobby, dining area, a bar and gift shop. You can stay in a Victorian rail car which I think might be better than a standard room. We were just looking for an inexpensive […] room for the night. The regular hotel rooms are in buildings a ways from the main building. They do offer to drive people around in golf carts at no charge. They have nice gardens to walk through or you can look at the rain cars as you go between the lobby and rooms. The standard room was nothing special and actually needed to be updated. The furnishings were clean but worn. I booked a room with a king but when we arrived we could only get a double. We also had a terrible view, our room looked out onto a roof. But we were all about cheap so I wasn't expecting 4 star accommodations. Parking was not included in the room fee and we had to pay that separate. We had breakfast in the Gardens Restaurant. You can order off the menu or do the buffet. Food was pretty good. I also loved they have a New Orleans street car you can ride around the hotel complex. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The hotel lobby and stores were great . The room itself could stand some upgrading. The ceiling had water damage and was painted in the patchwork areas with the color of the walls, not the color of the ceiling. Also the hot water would not stay hot except for about 1 min, then it would get cold. Besides that we enjoyed our stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Our Visit to Chattanooga Choo choo"
Overall, we enjoyed our time at this hotel. I would like to say that there was little or no housekeeping service during our stay though.
