This hotel needs A LOT of updating and maintenance. It is definitely worth the extra money to stay elsewhere.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Very good value option in Austin. Clean rooms and very helpful staff. Need to modernize the lobby and dining area. Would staff again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good quite weekend getaway"
Good get away for a weekend in the summer. 10 minute drive to downtown Austin. One of the elevators was broken, and the hot tub closed too early, but other than that, this hotel was pretty okay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice room, not much else"
Friendly staff at check in and the room service runner was too. I had high hopes based on warm welcome. Room was clean, but matresses on beds need to be replaced as they are way too worn and soft (they almost wobbled). Pillows seemed old or at least, inexpensive. Housekeeping did a good job on room refresh. Restaurant left some to be desired, food was […] just ok and breakfast was understaffed (one server and one busser) unless everybody eats buffet. I found the selections to be uninspired. Ordered sliders and seasoned fries one night. Got mostly bread and onion and ketchup was spicier than the "seasoned" fries. Plenty of parking as long as you don't mind lugging bags from a lower outdoor lot in 96* heat (no bellman service, no secure bag drop that I could see). Would stay again in a pinch as it has a desired location and price was better than a downtown stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent for the price"
Most courteous hotel staff I've seen in any hotel. They want you to enjoy your stay and we did. They did everything they could to ensure our stay was top notch. The only critique I can offer is it is a slightly older hotel and you can tell. If they did a minor face lift this would be a superb stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
pointed shower so when you turn on it sprays you. Pillows are small more like a square. Annoying.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Holiday Inn Austin-NW Plaza/Arboretum Area Sam, Please accept our apologies with regard to your shower. I will be sure to share this with our wonderful guestroom attendants as a reminder as to the importance of details. With regard to the pillows...WE AGREE. We just completed an order to replace all pillows in our king rooms and our double beds are next!

Very clean hotel with friendly staff and located between two major highways, however, a little difficult to reach the front door by car after traveling through neighborhoods.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"We won't be back"
I had to go down to the front desk multiple times - mainly because my phone didn't work, and also because they kept forgetting about us. The A/C made a horrible noise, the maintenance man was rude when he (finally) came up - then just grabbed a shop-vac and vacuumed out the sink to fix the A/C??? That only worked for a few minutes, then the noise came […] back. There was mold in the bathtub, and when I told 2 different people about it, they just said they'd tell housekeeping and it would be handled during the next inspection. "Not worth the money."
I book this hotel a week before I went down. It was crazy expensive. I asked for a 2 bedroom I got a single king bed, with 3 people on the trip and my buddy has to sleep to sleep on a cot. They said the hotel is booked and there's no extra room. We used their gym and it was a joke. We have gym memberships but there was no LA fitness around the area. […] Their tv has signal issues, over half of the channels are flickering. We stayed at the double tree on our previous visit and it wa great. Never again holiday inn. We have stayed in much nicer rooms for a lot less money. the vanity is Very small. The coffee maker is only a 1 cup maker and is guaranteed to make a huge mess all over the tiny vanity. The rooms are very noisy. The people talking down the hall sound like they are in your room. The breakfast in the restaurant was good but not worth the price gouge. […] The burgers in the sports grill were forgettable and again you are price gouged. This hotel is very hard to get in and out of, if you don't already know your way around you will spend a lot of time trying to find your way. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Response by Holiday Inn Austin-NW Plaza/Arboretum Area Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback; we regret that we did not deliver an experience that met your expectations. Since you did not prefer the one-cup coffee maker, I would like to invite you to our complimentary lobby coffee station. This is equipped with incredible add-ons such as whip cream, chocolate, vanilla, hazelnut, etc. Also, great news on the burgers! We just completed a tasting with incredibly creative and tasty new burgers, complete with brioche buns. This menu should be rolled out within the next 21 days. We invite you back so we can show you a whole new experience. Sincerely, Donn Thompson
"Difficult to find"
The hotel is difficult to find -- even for GPS. The hotel uses a sports bar as its restaurant (dinners), and because the hotel is smack dab on the freeway, there are no walking options. Being so difficult to find, I was reticent to venture out, since it would take a long time to find my way back. The $20 credit for breakfast was nice, tho.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Horrible Bed and Pillows!"
Bed and Pillows were the most uncomfortable things I've ever slept with! Completely ruined it. The Bathroom was very plain and no mirror in the same room as the shower.Genuine Expedia guest review
Response by Holiday Inn Austin-NW Plaza/Arboretum Area Thank you for taking the time to provide the details of your experience. Please accept our most sincere apologies for your poor night's rest. I will share this review with our team so we can inspect our beds and pillows for any defects. We hope you have a chance to serve you again and look forward to offering pillow and mattress alternatives.
This hotel is located close to just about everything in Austin, I was visiting my parents who live in an Independent Living facility at The Arboretum which was just a few minutes away, I also went downtown which was about a 15 minute trip. The hotel was only about 30 minutes from the airport,Genuine Expedia guest review
Loved the location of the hotel. I was about 5 or 10 minutes from everywhere I needed to be. Room was wonderful, the only few things was that the bed squeaked and we were under the ice machine or something because it ran all day until about 10 or 11. I also didn't realize that the rooms faced inside the hotel. Which makes since, since you are in a residential […] neighborhood. The bathroom needs major updating. The bathtub drained very slowly. The fan barely worked so there was too much humidity when you took a shower. When you flushed the toilet you had to hold the handle down for way to long. Also it was very hard to find if you are out of state.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"No free breakfast"
We researched hotel options and booked through Expedia and thought we were entitled to breakfast but found out it was not included. We could have found much better value using my company discount at other options. We ended up staying an additional day because we didn't wan to pack up an move for a day. Free breakfast would have made the difference. […] We will be more careful in the future and now understand different rates at the same hotel provide different options. "Lumpy Pillows,Bitter Coffee,Topped w/h Xtr Charges"
Pillows were lumpy, like really lumpy. Heating system was primitive, pool area kept VERY cold (what is the point) Breakfast restaurant only services generic bitter coffee? Only thing going for this place is the bar inside "Legends". Stayed at a La Quinta up the road night before and it was far better.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Holiday Inn Austin-NW Plaza/Arboretum Area Tara - Thank you for taking the time to write about your stay. I would like to first apologize on behalf of my team for your experience. We have reviewed the pool readings and they have been maintained at 86 degrees, we are happy to discuss making an adjustment of pool temp. Sorry the coffee was bitter, you will be pleased to know it is a rainforest cafe certified bean from Costa Rica. We will check the brewers to ensure that process is being complete correctly. You will also be happy to know that Holiday Inn just released a new pillow standard that allows us to address the current pillow situation. We hope we have the new pillows in place by the next time you visit; I would love to host you personally.
I've stayed here twice for a conference in the Arboretum area and have been happy with my stay both times. The room was clean and comfortable, the staff was friendly, the fitness center had working machines, the sports bar had a fantastic grilled chicken salad, there was free wireless, and there was a great coffee station in the lobby in the mornings...what […] more could I ask for? "Would stay here again"
The hotel was VERY clean. The only problem with our room was the hair dryer didn't work. They replaced it as soon as we called. Also we had to call for housekeeping service which was handled immediately. We only had decaf coffee in our room the 1st day. We requested regular coffee when we called for housekeeping and it was provided. "Overall, not bad!"
We came in late Friday night (actually Saturday morning, around 1:30a), the staff was excellent; got right in. The parking lot was packed because the hotel was full. So finding a spot was a bit difficult. But my biggest complaint was we asked for a sofa bed because it was a king-bed room and we had 3 people staying in one room. We ended up with a recliner […] instead which only led to frustration. My son had to sleep on the floor on a pallet of extra pillows. But the hotel was very nice and accessible! My family had a blast. We came in and the front desk were very helpful. We actually added another guest and they were able to accomodate us immediately. "Old hotel but okay for a nights stay."
Front Desk was nice and helpful, however the quality of the hotel was not that great. Old design since it is an older hotel. The bathrooms are not that big and have old plumbing. The worst part of the visit was the big blower carpet fan that was right in front of my parents hotel room. You had to watch your step every time you left their room. "STUCK in ELEVATOR"
One of the worst stay... 1. The room didn't get clean up after we got back @ 1:45pm. Asked if it can be cleaned up after napping around 4pm and the answer is a BIG NO NO... 2. I WAS STUCK in the elevator... come on!!! Management should keep up with the maintenance and their staff!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good stay until Breakfast......"
It was a good stay until breakfast. It took us over 10 minutes to be acknowledged and sat. Then another 10 minutes for drinks. Then another 10 minutes for our orders. "Not what I expected"
From the pictures provided on the website, you would think that is one of the newer updated versions of this hotel brand. Not the case. The hotel sits on off the main highway but is kind of difficult to access. This hotel is older and it seems that they are trying to update in some areas, but I was not impressed. I was given an interior room. The only […] window looked out to a conference and restaurant space and there was an active conference taking place at the time and I could hear the conference and clapping and noise on the 3rd floor after 9pm. Quite uncomfortable. The ac and heating unit was also very noisy when I was trying to sleep. There is no complimentary breakfast. On the positive side, the front desk staff were nice and I did not see any issues with bugs or stuff. For the price that I paid, I was disappointed, it was good for one night's only stay.
