Our check-in experience was above-average and the front desk woman provided recommendations for restaurants and a map. The room was clean- but not much of a view. The gym was fine- the pool (which we didn't use) was small but serviceable. The hotel is conveniently located to attractions, but right outside of a bus transfer station and people (some drunk) […] loiter outside, which can make venturing outside at night interesting. However, it seems like most of Duluth is like this, so I don't know if there is a better option. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very accommodating staff!!"
First night we were near the pool it was pretty loud. Ask the front desk if we could change to a quieter room and they set us up in the tower side almost immediately. Free shuttle till ten pm, close to everything. Will definitely stay there again...on the tower side :)Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Our hotel stay"
It was overpriced for the cleanliness and the maintenance of the room otherwise it was a nice areaGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I have stayed here many times, and the staff is friendly, they offer convenient shuttling to area attractions, sell tickets for attractions, etc. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Will definitely stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Shuttle service was great"
Disappointed with the suite, for the cost. And housekeeping did a poor job. After the first nights stay they left used towels on the bathroom floor and failed to bring clean ones. They made one bed, and not the other.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The room was clean and comfortable. didn't really care for the surroundings of the hotel. kind of a scary area, especially when you see cops inside and outside of the hotel. stayed there because nothing else was available down in canal park.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Place to Say"
It was easy to book through Hotels.com. I chose the hotel because ot its location and the option of a room with two beds and a pull-out sofa bed. The room was extremely comfortable and well kept. The restaurant was excellent. The hotel is within walking distance of many attractions yet not in the middle of everythnig so it was quiet. The price was an […] excellent value. Super clean, nice and friendly. Laminate from bathroom door was so old that it was falling off. Carpet and wallpaper looked dated but exceptionally clean.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Overpriced. Mold on roof of bathroom. Was afraid my car was going to get broken into. No free breakfast.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good hotel in a decaying neighbourhood"
The rooms were clean and comfortable but pricey for this level. The neighbourhood was run down with many shops and offices shuttered.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Very pleasant. The staff was very friendly.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great room, with a good view. No noise, comfortable beds. Would definitely book againGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to Canal Park"
This Hotel was within walking distance to the sightseeing/shopping in Canal Park, but a lot less expensive that the Hotels within Canal Park. Room was clean and service was excellent.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very beautiful and has great restaurants"
The hotel is very nice, the staff couldn't have been more friendly. The room was very comfortable and the pools were relaxing and well kept. We ate at both restaurants in the building and enjoyed them. The location is only a couple of blocks to the harbor and you can take sky-walks the entire way if you choose. I also felt safe leaving my vehicle in […] the parking garage which was also very nice. Thanks Holiday Inn Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

I like this hotel and have stayed there many times. I was surprised on how the downtown Duluth has turned into a ghetto though.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Efficient and friendly staff. Free parking! Our room was clean and had beautiful furnishing and linens. However it's a bit uncomfortable to walk out onto the street level right into a crowd of very interesting people...Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Boarded up buildings grace downtown Duluth these days. This room we were given faced the dark alleys of Duluth. Musty-smelling to say the least. Only plus was that it was quiet at night. Stay away from pool-facing rooms if you can. This hotel was probably glorious in 1995.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Duluth Getaway"
The hotel is very clean and the rooms are very comfortable. I chose it because it's close to Canal Park and the things that we were in Duluth to do, it has a pool, it was a priced competitively, and because of the Holiday Inn brand. My kids and I were very happy with our stay at this hotel!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We wanted to be able to walk to the fireworks on the 4th. We did a lot of walking, but don't walk alone. You are in the heart of the city. The hotel was very nice and we the kids loved the pool.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This is the second time we stayed at this hotel. They renovated since last year, so the rooms were even nicer. Even though the hotel isn't right on the Lake Walk or Canal Park, it's only a few blocks' walk away. The only things we didn't like was that there isn't a continental breakfast, and the fact that there's a bus stop immediately in front of the […] street entrance of the hotel. It results in being a gathering place for some of the less affluent locals. Not enough to keep us from staying again, however. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good room, Great Location"
We were all very pleased with this hotel. First of all, the parking ramp was very useful, since there is no place to park in Downtown Duluth except in a ramp. The parking is free to those staying in the hotel. The hotel is nicely situated in a central location. The hotel staff are extremely friendly and helpful. I liked the discounted tickets to local […] attractions. We had a great time, and hope to return to Duluth some day. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Housekeeping Staff did not replenish shampoo and lotion when refreshing room, nor did they replace used glasses with clean ones. They did readily supply those item when requested, however.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Nice hotel, but we had an expensive bag of tools stolen from the parking ramp overnight. Maybe should have surveillance cameras.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice and new interior"
The location is easy to get to. The beds were super comfortable with the big pillows. Our room was newly redone and very up to date. Happy that Porter's restaurant is open for breakfast which was excellent. Plus the price of our room was extremely reasonable in comparison to other rooms in the Duluth metro area. Will stay again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great rates for travelling Canadians"
09/02/14 Janet C Thunder Bay
We often stay here on our way to or from Minneapolis or for a quick getaway. Location is great and the rates for Canadian travellers can not be beat. The hotel has indoor parking, shuttle to the airport a will keep your car while you are away. Recent renovations are a nice upgrade.
"Ok but doubt I'll stay again"
09/02/14 ckbarnes Minneapolis, Minnesota
We reserved a suite with a King size bed. Upon arrival, found we were right off the pool area. Asked if there was anything available farther away (pool is open approx 8am to 10pm) and we were told all suites were next to the pool. Very small room. Especially for the price we were paying, we expected a bigger and nicer room. Bedroom area was fine. The living room area was smelly. Hard to believe hotel staff did not notice it and do something about it. My husband left a note that the source of the really bad smell was behind the refrigerator. Hopefully it is addressed before the next person stays there.
"End of summer trip"

Well I first must say I was presently surprised as how nice this hotel was. I have not stayed at any Holiday Inn's for a very long time. The hotel lobby upon entry has been recently updated and it looks very nice and welcoming. You have a great staff at your front desk always addressing guests with a smile and also very curtious. They were never annoyed that both rooms we reserved kept asking for more K-cups as we are avid coffee drinkers. My wife and I stayed in the Siuer De lut sutie which was very cozy. We really liked the tile floor as you walk in and the shower with the glass door was very classy looking. The rest of my family stayed in one of your family suites and they were also very happy the service and the room. The only negative thing I found were the window sills in both rooms were pretty dirty. I took a wipe and cleaned them off. I know things get missed, but I thought you would like to know that. I will be back otherwise for another great stay,.
"Value just wasn't there"
08/31/14 Late-Day-Traveller Thunder Bay, Canada
Spent one night in this downtown centered Holiday Inn. Room was clean and well laid out but bathroom was tiny, especially since this was a two Queen room. Paid $160 for a harbour view room but it was at least a mile away and largely blocked by a nearby building. Indoor parking was a plus as was the comp free wifi. Staff were excellent, especially at the checkin station - friendly, accommodating and informative. Dinner selections were quite limited with a pub style place on site, nothing more. Breakfast menu looked good but we sought our first meal elsewhere as we are accustomed to that meal being included in the price - certainly the norm in Duluth. All in all I felt the value wasn't there to justify the price. In addition to the points raised above the location in downtown was unappealing - rough looking neighbourhood in real need of revitalization.
Very nice hotel compared to ones we usually stay in while in Duluth. The location is great and the skywalks make it quite easy to get around. Surprisingly quiet considering it's right down town. Beds are comfy so we had a great rest. Some mould on the bathroom ceiling, but that is to be expected when there is no fan in the bathroom...we weren't bothered by this....and the shower was amazing, I don't think my son has ever taken that long a shower!! Even with using travel points, I thought we got a good room, we've never had a problem, but others have mentioned it in reviews. There are 2 pools to enjoy, but we only used the one that was located on our floor. We took the advise of another reviewer and requested a higher floor which was a good idea...if you want quiet, I would suggest you not ask for a poolside room, I could see how they could be noisy with families enjoying the pool that is open until 10:30 I believe. We did not have a lake view and were quite happy. Again, great hotel, we will definitely book it again.
"Nice for family"
08/26/14 PattyJStMichael St. Michael
Not exactly quiet on the inside. Clean, updated. Does quiet down after 9:30 or so, by the 4th floor pool. Good stay for a family if your just looking for a room for a couple of nights for an event in town. Pretty easy to get to right off Superior. The reason for the parking garage setup is because it's on a one way street, enter to the left so you don't cross traffic leaving the hotel. Didn't use any restraunts within the hotel as we brought our own for breakfast and lunch. It is a jaunt to canal park as far as walking, just make sure it's during the day. Only the top floors really have a view. Most of the shopping is by canal park rather than by the hotel. Bus stops a typical city, yes you're going to run into "questionable characters" but that's what makes it city right? There are a few right in front of the hotel so we just exited via parking garage. If you want to be near all the sights stay on canal park side but you will hear the boats as well. The front desk was welcoming and accommodating, didn't have any issues.

I hadn't stayed here for a couple of years and was pleasantly surprised with the updated room I stayed in. Fridge, microwave, sink and updated carpet was way better than last time I stayed. Slightly inconvenient to canal park but not bad walk through skywalk. Room was clean and staff were efficient. Cost was very competitive compared to Canal park options. As others have noted, you better like being next to the pool if you have a poolside or near pool room as I was treated to one hour of post dinner full throated Marco Polo by what sounded like dozens of tweens. This was followed by another hour serenade by an unhappy 1 year old. Good times! I was thinking about hopping in the hot tub but couldn't bring myself to open the door and step out into the increased volume. If I still had a kid in hockey or the like and came here for a tournament this would be great. As a business traveler, not so much. Great spot for downtown or walk to DECC but not optimal location if your destination isn't downtown. Last comment, it is a minor quibble and I know no one can remedy, but what were they thinking when they designed the parking ramp? I feel like I am in the figure 8 demolition derby when entering or exiting.
"Nice rooms, not so nice staff"
I really liked that the parking ramp was right at the hotel entrance. I really liked the rooms. The rooms were clean and comfortable. I was not, however, impressed with the check-in staff. I felt hurried even though there was not a line. Nice pools.
"One night stay"
08/13/14 M B Detroit Lakes, Minnesota
I stayed here one night because my son was registering for college. I love that you pull into the parking ramp and then enter the hotel from there. This would be great if it is raining or snowing. The lobby was nice and clean. Our room was up on the 8th floor, and the elevators seemed nice and quick. We have a view of the city though, not the lake. Two queen beds, nice sheets and pillows. The bathroom needs a good cleaning, and fan. Evidence of mold on the ceiling. The hotel has a little mall connected to it, that was nice for breakfast and a late night drink. I'll probably stay some where else when we move him in. I decided to try a different hotel each time we visit.
"Besutiful weekend on the Lake"

We had a wonderful stay at the Holiday Inn, Duluth. The Walk to Canal park is only a couple of blocks, and the weather was perfect. The last day it drizzled, so we walked the skyway instead! Location was wonderful! Everything you need is nearby. The front desk was awesome. They answered all our questions about restaurants and activities. We will be back!
