I had a pleasant experience staying at the hotel. The only major issue with the hotel's location is that it is a bit far out from the city centers. The closest shoping mall, where one can get Starbucks or Panera Bread's coffee, for example, was about 20 miles away from the hotel. "Disappointing Starwood Hotel"
I have stayed at lots of Starwood hotels and enjoyed the staying. However, this Sheraton is really disappointing. As said on this Sheraton hotel website, SPG member gets ready to be wowed by staying with them. I was not wowed, but "whoa-ed". First, let's talk about the room. Room looked old. Bed was good, but the overall conditions of the room were […] not good. Nothing looked exactly like the pictures shown on their website. Second, the customer service was not good at all. One thing that I have to mention is that one of their front desk staff surprisingly did not know what a BATH ROBE is. When we asked for more bath robes, he did not understand and said will come back with the robes. But he never did come back. How can someone work at the front desk and do not know what a bath robe is??? This lower the quality of this hotel. Third, there is no option of free internet. I know that in most Starwood hotels we need to pay for wifi. However, in this Sheraton we can't even use ethernet. I don't think they have a good business strategy as far as making guests happy during their stay. Forth, we can hear people talking and the elevator inside the room. We stayed here so we could take our children on an educational vacation to D.C. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The drivers we had for our shuttle service to the Greenbelt were exceptionally nice and knowledgeable. We made a reservation for the July 4 weekends two weeks ago. The check in time was starting from 3 pm and we arrived around 5:30 pm. Even though it says we could get our room starting from 3 pm, we were unable to check in until 11:00 pm. I was staying in the area for a lacrosse tournament with my son and his friend. I purchased a Club level room. When I checked in I learned they were overbooked and put me on the 3rd floor with access to the 9th Floor "Club". The boys and I went to the "Club" for appetizers. "College Graduation Event May 11/13"
We had come to MD for my niece's graduation from Pittsburgh, PA. The event started at 4pm and it was close to the hotel, thank goodness! We arrived at 4pm and it was a line of 3-4 people getting ready to check in. To Everyone of us, was told our room wasn't ready yet. Everyone was disappointed and decided to wait in the lobby. The clerk answer was that it was a 3pm the check in but it was not warranties the room will be ready by that time and the maids were clean them up as we speak but he didn't know the time they will be ready. I told him that I never heard of something like that and my husband suggested to change in the lobby's bathroom for the event. Nothing was suggested for the clerk to ease up our situation. We came back to the hotel by 1 am and I made the comment to the new clerk about our situation earlier, but she didn't respond. I had booked a king size bed, but instead we got a 2 double beds, which by that time, we were grateful we had a clean room. I understand that sometimes things happen that are out of our hands, but you need to prepare your staff to have easy way to make the guests situation comfortable. I would have recommend to come back to that hotel again because the convenient location, the room was very clean and comfortable, but I'm afraid this is a common way this hotel have to deal with situations like the one happen to us. We just happened across this hotel on a road trip and were very happy to have found it. Our room was spacious and warm and had everything we needed. We unexpectedly had to stay an extra night and were able to buy popcorn in the hotel lobby, pop it in our microwave, and watch a movie to pass the time.
