We were in the middle of a snow storm and decided to stop for the night. The rooms were clean and the staff was friendly. Beds were very comfy.

Zach, the desk clerk on duty at Cumberland, MD, when we arrived did a great job of welcoming us. We hadn't planned to stay at this hotel but were driving through a blizzard and took the exit to get off the mountain roads for safety. Stay was very convenient. The room was comfortable, clean and appreciated.

While my mom was in hospital in icu, i stayed at this hotel. It was very close to hospital and restaurants. Leaving hospital late each nite, having a McDonald's real close came in handy. Felt very safe in neighborhood.Hotel was very quiet and peaceful.

The lobby was busy with many checkins when we arrived and there were two clerks on duty. Our clerk seemed half asleep and did not provide any information. Clearly an older property, but well cared for. My room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was delicious! Based on other reviews, I made sure to ask for a room on the opposite side of the railroad track. I was traveling for business, so a good night's sleep was very important for me.

The staff at this hotel were the friendliest of any hotel I have stayed at. However, if you are a light sleeper there are better choices for a good nights rest. Our room was on the train track side of the hotel and the first night I got about an hour of sleep because the trains every hour kept waking me up.

Unfortunately, the properity is located next to a railroad track and the trains come in and out of Cumberland all night long -- blowing their whistles for extented amounts of time. My wife and I had never been through Cumberland before, but it looked like a quaint place to stop on our way back to DC from Pittsburgh. The weather was extremely hot and the power was out in parts of MD and WV, so I think many of the guests were actually locals without power! It was awful. We confirmed a non smoking room and got a smoking room. The sheets were dirty. The staff was rude and said take it or leave it. The room cost was outrageous for the room and service we got. I will never stay there again. Whatever you do don't stay here.

Very good hotel located in the heart of Cumberland. Many stores and shops in walking distance, as well as the C&O canal. Hotel staff was accommodating to early check-in. Although hotel has some age, it is in good condition. Room was clean and well maintained.

I booked this hotel with my family and three of our friends to begin a weekend trip through the area. What a mistake. We required a crib for our toddler, which I called to reserve two days before, telling them explicitly that we would get in late, we would need to have it already set up in the room, and if there was any chance of not having one, we […] would play it safe and make our own arrangements. They assured me that the crib was reserved and would be set up when we got there - both turned out to be untrue. When I asked how this could have happened, I was told glibly that "cribs are subject to availability." No kidding? Funny, I thought that was why people reserved things in the first place. We had a fairly sleepless night of three to a bed as a result. The second issue is that they clearly don't care whether guests smoke in non-smoking rooms or not. Our room REEKED of cigarettes, despite the non-smoking designation on the door. The facilities are dingy at best, the service is terrible (I actually waited in line behind three others making complaints at 11:30 PM when I went to voice my own), the hotel is right next to a busy train track, and it's overpriced.
