The staff was very friendly and accomodating. The double queen was spacious and clean. We stayed in the main building and the kids loved the glass elevator and indoor/outdoor pool. It is convenient to I-12 so you can be anywhere in the city within 10 minutes. There is a Wow Wingery restaurant now in the hotel, however we did not eat in the hotel.

Hotel was terrible. Expedia paid for this hotel after another advertised an indoor pool when they didn't have one. Expedia personnel were wonderful and gave great service. One Supervisor from Expedia went out of his way to help us find this hotel at the last minute. Hotel clerk asked for a credit/debit card when we arrived for incidentals. He said […] it would be $15 per room and we booked 3 rooms so no big deal. I noticed the next morning that he ran $86 per room. Big deal and I complained. Day Supervisor informed me she fixed the problem. The next day I check my account and now I had two charges of $172 plus one of $86 in addition to the Expedia charges for the original booking. Day Supervisor at hotel was reluctant to admit her mistake and thus a yelling match ensued. Eventually I had to call my bank and have this Hotel retract their charges via a fax on hotel letterhead. Luckily, I had enough money in my account but still to tie up close to $450 before my departure on a cruise????? BTW, I was the second person in line complaining about this. Hmmmmm? Read more

This was one of the poorest hotel stays that I have ever had. 1. The toilet was already clogged on check-in -- It took about 10 minutes before maintenance arrived, he said that it was clogged, left and didn't come back with a plunger for another 20 minutes. 2. The food in the hotel restaurant was okay, but I got an extremely dirty glass (looked like […] a Bloody Mary left over); the service was pretty poor. Nothing was done about the glass except a new drink. 3. Went to take a shower the next morning and found we didn't have a shower curtain. Had to take a shower without one since we were on a time schedule. Requested one from the front desk, and 30 minutes later it still had not arrived. We asked that it be held at the front desk as we left. The good thing was that the front desk clerk had it waiting for us when we came back about 2.5 hours later and flagged us down. 4. Other things that showed lackluster service: Only 1 coffee cup in the room, but 3 lids. The clock on the alarm had not been reset & the alarm was still set. 5. When checking out, I expressed to the clerk that the stay was less then desirable and that we would not be staying here again, and I guess she didn't hear the words or the tone because nothing was said or done. My only complaint about the room is they do not have opaque drapes that close all the way. They have sheer, translucent drapery that closes all the way, but you can see through it, especially at night!! Most hotels have at least one layer of drapery that you cannot see through which prevents light from coming in the room and outsiders seeing into the […] room. Check In: Warm greeting. Early check in. Lobby has a Southwest theme - odd for this part of the country. Room: Placed in room 701 in the "exterior" building - think "old motel" with outside walkways past all the room windows. These kinds of rooms don't feel as safe to me as a room with an interior hallway. Our room appeared to have been recently redecorated. […] There was a small wet spot near the air conditioner, but not enough to bother us. We returned around 10pm to find the wet spot had expanded to cover most of the entry area and the air conditioner was no longer working. We were moved to room 809 in the exterior building. There was another wet spot near the bathroom sink and I placed a towel over it so as not to get my feet wet. I was disgusted to see the towel turn brown as the liquid was soaked into the towel! Yuck!! Grounds/Facilities: The air conditioners are loud and not especially efficient. There were rusted holes near the door locks on several doors. The curtains don't close enough to completely block out the lights from the parking lot. None of the ice machines in the exterior building worked. We had to trek to the "tower" building and go up to one of the upper floors to get ice. Restaurant: The staff is pleasant, but ineffective. Breakfast is buffet and the food is pretty bland. Server never asked if we wanted drink refills and I had to hunt her down for the check. There is an ad in the room that says "kids eat free" but no one knew about it. Read more

Door would not shut correctly. When leaving I had to slam it (which sounded like most doors in the corridor. This actually caused the deadbolt to lock and I was now locked out of my room. Hotel staff offered me a spoon to try and open the door. We managed to pop open the lock, after being locked out for an hour (it was now 11 pm). Maintenance then came […] and banged on the door at 5 am to see if I needed to have the door looked at, who does that at 5 am ? Especially to an exterior facing room with no security. When we arrived we stood there at the desk for over 5 minutes before anyone helped us. You can tell the hotel spent the money on the lobby, it's really nice, the rooms not so much. There was garbage on the floor of te elevator when we first went in it and it was still there when we left and came back hours later. There was garbage around the indoor […] pool area. The room itself was small. The pillows were dreadfully small and really hard. The first room we were given the air did not work at all. The second room they moved us to only one side of the a/c blew air out. My husband pulled the filter out and it was filthy so he cleaned it off. Rooms were dirty. We had a non smoking room which smelled like an ash tray. The personnel at the front desk were never there so me and others would stand there for 10-15 minutes at a time waiting. Very unprofessional and customer service was poor.

Moldy/mildew odor pervasive in the room. Rug worn with tattered edges. Handicapped bathroom that we did not request required us to remove the tub seat. Pedastal sink provided no room for even a few toiletries. The odor, though was the most disturbing. There were no other rooms available.

The staff was very welcoming but we waited for 2 1/2 hours for towels. The bathroom was not clean and there was rust and ground in dirt on the floor. Two of the lights in the room didn't work and the dining are staff were a little unprofessional when it came to service, but maybe they were frazzeled by the volume of teams staying there!

10 minutes from downtown. Right on I-10 ramp. Easy to get to and lots of shopping and restaurants close. Top notch hotel with inside/outside pool and bar, full breakfast. Rooms were clean and the A/C worked like a champ. Zero Complaints

Overall it was a good hotel for what I was there for. And I only stayed one night. Overall good enough for me and most easygoing people I think. THe pools were an excellent touch! (although I recommend they upkeep them a little more...) and the lobby restaurant had terrible food for supper in my opinion. Service there really wasn't too impressive.

We have stayed at Holiday Inns all over the country, and this one in Baton Rouge was very nice. The room was quite comfortable, and a great mattress was a welcome surprise. The amenities of two pools and a spacious lobby were attractive. The breakfast was generous and nicely cooked...pancakes, scrambled eggs, grits, sausage and bacon, plus muffins and […] toast, yogurt, fruit and enormous glasses of OJ. Warning: Part of this hotel is an older motel: if you don't like people walking in front of your only window, make sure you get the tower section. Also, the bar is terrible. This hotel has a old side and a new side. If you stay here ask for something above the 2nd floor. The old rooms are small, and nowherre near sound proof. Another guest was smoking outside my room and the smell came through the door. Not me anymore.

The Holiday Inn Baton Rouge South is mediocre at best. It is obviously a very old hotel and that shows up in your room. I do not think that very many people are going to be blown away by their rooms. However, the young lady at the front desk was extremely nice and helpful. The first room I was assigned to had a screaming baby right next to it. So I went down to the front desk, explained the situation, and with no hassles but with a smile I was given a different room plus an upgrade. Pleasently surprised. We walked into the main lobby which looks really new and nice. We were a little disappointed to find out that our room was in the older, outside location, but were very happy when we entered the room. It was much more updated than the outside suggested. The hotel was easy to find. It was right off the highway and close to where we needed to be. On our arrival we did not have to wait long to check in.
