"Better than expected"
The hotel and room was very clean. It was central to many good restaurants and bars within walking distance. We would definitely stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
If you're in your late 20s and coming back for a college football game, this hotel is ideal. I love that I can use the light-rail to take me from the airport directly to the hotel (only about 10 minutes walk from Cedar-Riverside Station). MetroTransit costs me about $2. A taxi to most other hotels this far from the airport is at least $30. So this is […] actually not as expensive a hotel as it looks (if you don't have lots of luggage to haul half a mile). It 's right on the edge of campus and downtown. Staff are professional. Parking is not free, although they are right next to a ramp. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Hotel in a great area"
Was very happy with this hotel and the stuff is amazing. Will definitly go back there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Recently refurbished. Modern rooms with outlets everywhere (a big plus for me) and a working height desk tucked under the counter. Good access to transportation including a short walk to the light rail from the airport, and an easy walk to some great restaurants.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Courtyard Minneapolis Downtown Thank you for your review – it is SPOT ON! At Courtyard Minneapolis Downtown we value connectivity, in multiple ways. We put outlets in convenient places so you don’t have to move furniture or constantly get up to check a charging phone! The light rail has proved to be a great way to connect to downtown Minneapolis. Greater access will be added in the spring with connection to downtown St. Paul and the University of Minnesota. Thanks again for pointing out some of our benefits as future guests will likely find it valuable. We hope to see you again next time you are in Minneapolis. Philip Johnson General Manager
Recently updated and good value.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The renovations are slick, the location remains excellent for both downtown and university connections, the staff professionally capable and wonderfully friendly--only the price was off. Too high! Would happily stay there again if i had a better deal.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This place has been rebranded & remodeled. It is much improved in the lobby and the fitness facility. Great location for U of M.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great place to stay for the Twin Cities marathon"
This was a great hotel to stay at for the Twin Cities Marathon. It is close to the start of the race which is the HHH Metrodome. The hotel even checked my bags for me so I could get them after the race. Great service!!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Last Minute Choice"
A friend and I booked this hotel at the last minute after having problems with our previous hotel. Before booking, we did see that the hotel was under renovation by Expedia so that was no surprise when we actually got there. Because of that reason though, we gave the hotel a 3 on condition since most of the hotel was under repair. The hotel staff throughout […] our stay were very polite and gave us tips and advice on the surrounding area and even gave us free shuttle drop off and pick up, to and from the local train station. Which also happened to be right next to the Metrodome. There was free wifi service and continental breakfast included with the stay. The room we stayed in was brand new, quite possibly we could of been the first ones to check into that room. Comfortable and lots of room for two people and easily four. Even though this hotel is more on the outskirts of downtown, riding the train is a 5 minute ride. Would of loved to have stayed there after the renovation since it is looking promising. "Great location, great staff, great time"
Read reviews about hotel, and knew in advance the pool would be closed, and the hotel was under renovation. My friends and I were in town for a Twins game, and had a fantastic time. Can't remember the names of the 2 women behind the front desk who were on duty, but they were extremely helpful and answered all questions we had. Complimentary shuttle […] took us to rail system, which took us to Target Field for 50 cents. Plenty of nightlife surrounding area after returning from game, too. Look forward to returning next year and seeing completed renovations. Again, we knew there would be construction, but it did not affect us at all (noise, dust, etc). "Under major construction"
What you don't know when you bid on this hotel is it's under major construction. And when I saw major, I mean the lobby is drywall and pretty nearly a folding desk for the gals at check in. Getting to the door is a trick in itself. However, the rooms are just fine. We go there during a major heat spell and while the lobby was blazing hot, the hallways […] and rooms were just fine. Hallways were a bit dusty from people tracking drywall but the rooms were clean. Nice big flatscreen TV, great water pressure. And I have to give kudos to the staff, they were all VERY accommodating and went out of their way. We were visiting the UofM campus and we had a shuttle at our disposal (and the driver was very nice and helpful as well) and never had to take our car out of the lot which was reasonably priced at $6 a day. Lots of eating places right next to the hotel as well. This is going to be a beautiful renovation when it's done, so if you don't mind a little dust you can save a ton of money being right in the downtown area until it's completion in fall of 2013. Aside from the construction on the lobby I hardly noticed this hotel was under construction. Hotel staff was really great and helped me with everything I needed including several free shuttle rides. My room was very nice and clean. Complimentary breakfast included several items I could eat even though I am gluten free. Great stay! Response by Courtyard Minneapolis Downtown Emmie – I am delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us - even through our renovation process. I am proud of my staff – and my staff is proud to be here. We will have the same helpful staff members and provide the same great experiences as a fully renovated Courtyard by Marriott. I appreciate your feedback - and hope you will come back and stay with us soon to experience all the amenities and upgrades for yourself! Thank you Emmie! Philip Johnson General Manager
"Very helpful staff"
We were very pleased with our stay at the Hotel Minneapolis-Metrodome. The hotel was under construction so that was a mild inconvenience, but the wonderful staff more than made up for that. The front desk person was beyond helpful and every other staff member we interacted with was very friendly as well. Also, because of the construction they offered […] us continental breakfast in the morning and room service at night, which was very much appreciated. The neighborhood was not my favorite, but the hotel was great! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Hotel was under construction."
The hotel was under construction. Lobby boarded up, pavement torn up, loud. Over priced for the experience. Should have been made aware of construction before booking.Genuine Expedia guest review
I was not happy with the fact that we paid over $225 for two hotel rooms and then found out that the hotel was under renovation and had no pool, hot tub, lobby, restaurant, room for continental breakfast. The hotel also does not comp parking even though it is the only ramp anywhere close. Their explanation was that it was privately run ramp and they […] could not control it. Obviously they could control it by contracting with the parking ramp. The most disappointing was that the hotel offered no discount or rebate and then blamed us for not knowing that they were under construction. I was happy that Hotels.com was very helpful and offered us compensation when the hotel would not. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Courtyard Minneapolis Downtown Dear Keith, I want to sincerely apologize for the negative experience you had at our hotel. The construction is a noisy, unsightly disruption and I truly regret that we could not offer you our pool, hot tub, lobby, restaurant or a private room for continental breakfast. All of our private meeting space is currently under renovation, so while not ideal, the 5th floor elevator landing is our best option for presenting our temporary continental breakfast. My apologies that we are unable to offer complimentary parking, as well. For guest ease, we package the cost of the parking with the room on your behalf and pass along the parking expense to the ramp owners since the hotel does not own or operate the facility. I am sorry that this was not properly communicated and will be addressed before you stay with us once again. I am truly sorry, as well, that you were not made aware of our construction. Though we have renovation information on our website and online travel agency websites, I understand your frustration with walking into a construction scene without any warning and would also be completely dissatisfied. I hope you come back, Keith, once the renovation is complete so you we can offer you a refreshing, transformed experience from when you stayed with us last. Sincerely, Phil
No where on the Expedia hotel information did it say the hotel was under construction!!! The front desk was on a folding table, the hotel restaurant and LOUNGE was closed. The construction care was staying at that restaurant and they had the vending machines cleaned out!! They did offer a very nice breakfast in the morning to try to make up for the […] inconvenience. "Great neighborhood but construction incomplete"
We had a mixed experience at this hotel and would definitely wait until Marriot completes construction and remodel-later this year. Location and nearby restaurants are very good and the room was very spacious and comfortable. We could not shower-no hot water. We contacted hotel staff about this and they tried to fix but felt it may have had something […] to do with the construction going on. It should be a great place once the remodeling is done. "Just What We Needed"
The hotel was under renovations, but the friendliness of the staff and cleanliness of the room, made it easy to look past the construction. Restful night's sleep. A nice touch was the breakfast table at the elevators in the morning. Cereals, fruit, juice, coffee: A quick, convenient snack to start the day.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Courtyard Minneapolis Downtown M&C - I really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. Your feedback is quite welcoming and will serve as a great motivator for my team during our renovation. We can’t wait to offer the same restful night’s sleep but in Courtyard by Marriott style. Make sure to come stay again - once our renovations are complete!
"Sign on hotel said "Opening Soon""
You know you're in trouble when there's a fabric sign saying "OPENING SOON!" on the outside of the hotel you're checking into for a week. The hotel has changed ownership and there's *extensive* construction going on. Only one floor is open. The lobby, restaurant, and registration desk are behind barricades and plastic sheeting. Hotel staff sit at a […] small table with a computer near the elevators. They are doing their best under impossible circumstances. Hotel will reopen in August 2013 and should be a good place to stay then. Avoid until then. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Courtyard Minneapolis Downtown We are in the process of a complete renovation to become a Courtyard by Marriott. That and so much more will be dome in August 2013 so that you can take advantage of a new refreshing stay with us.
The hotel is under construction. The lobby is basically a hallway with no restroom. The room was expensive at $159 and very disappointing, The keys and coffee maker did not work. We have stayed at the other Hotel Minneapolis location and expected more from this location.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Courtyard Minneapolis Downtown Dear Scott, I am very sorry that your expectations for our hotel were not met during your stay in May 2013, specifically regarding the lobby hallway, the dysfunctional coffee maker and keys. Drink. Connect. quick/casual restaurant, complimentary coffee in the guest rooms and in the lobby and custom-designed, well-connected guest rooms to offer you the perfect stay. "Hopefully it will get better after the renovation"
1. The hotel is undertaking major renovation. However the whole Saturday afternoon we could not rest because of drilling and other noisy work in the room above ours. 2. We reserved a room with king size bed thriugh Expedia, but the hotel did not have one available and gave us a roo with teo beds. This is the second time such a thing happens to us in […] a little more than a month. 3. Setting the room temperature is very user unfriendly. While I am very sorry you were inconvenienced, I hope that you will come back and stay with us once again after we have transitioned to a Courtyard by Marriott. "Disappointment, would not stay here again"
There is a parking ramp connected to the hotel but it does not belong to the hotel, you will pay 15.00 for parking. We were put on the floor below remodeling, very noisy. "Poor dining experience"
The Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. However we had a very poor experience in the dining room at dinner. There we only two other tables and we felt the service was very slow. The waiter was very pleasant but did not write our order down and had to come back to claritfy it. He didn't write it down a that point either. Even after doing so parts […] of our meals were still incorrect. He suggested a new house red which I ordered. It had almost no taste so I aksed for a tea instead. The wine was not taken off of our bill. My wife asked for an appetizer and a salad to be served together as her entree with the others but it was not delivered that way. The entrees did not come out together but in groups with at least 5 minutes separating them. Two of the orders were incorrect but we were going to the theatre so we decided not to do anything about it or the wine. As I said, the waiter was very friendly but the experience was poor. Otherwise the rest of our stay was very pleasant. The front desk and hotel maintenance staffs were very helpful and friendly and our room was clean and comfortable.
