Needed a port in a snowstorm and this fit the bill, but it felt very rundown and shoddy. The place could use some work.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Overall the train didn't ruin our stay!"
Very good just could hear the train very well..Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Enjoyed this hotel!"
I was very happy with this hotel. I was in that part of town on business at the university. Parking was convenient, hotel was within walking distance of EVERYTHING! VERY helpful and friendly staff and comfortable, attractive rooms. The only thing that might pose a challenge for the more "sensitive" is that the hotel is very close to the elevated train. […] You will hear it from your room but it did not bother me. A set of well placed ear buds or plugs will do the trick if you are having trouble. I would definitely stay here again if I needed to be in Evanston or have easy access to the university! Good value and comfort! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Ok When Under The Gun"
Needed to book quickly. This did the trick. Black out curtains were askew but being handy, I fixed them. Also, fridge in room was loud so I unplugged it. Hotel needs work and they are working on that but it's cleanGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I was not happy.Hotel was under construction. We were awoke at 5am to a fire alarm that told us to all go to the lobby. After waiting for fire dept. To show up we climbed back up to 12 th floor. After we were able to get back to sleep, we awoke again to construction noise. The continental break fast was poor. At check out we were told that there was […] a glitch in the apparently new system. On the plus side they offered to discount parking at 1/2 price, with a little persuasion I managed to get all parking waved! I think there was more that should have or could have been done....in closing I would suggest not staying at a hotel that is under construction. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Business Hotel"
Very nice business hotel in the heart of Evanston, near Northwestern Univ. Very clean, comfortable, and the best breakfast buffet I have seen in a long time.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"The staff is their greatest asset."
The best thing about this hotel is their staff and that's the only thing that shouldn't change. The hotel lobby, the hallways and breakfast room were all freezing cold. Every guest was complaining about that. The toilet in the room was broken and the heater in the room was loud. The hotel is in need of a good renovation.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"good and bad"
First night and room good. Second night different room not so good. Friendly workers. Not good look while under construction.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"R & R"
My stay was relaxingGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The heater was so loud that it kept us all up even with ear plugs and we kept it very low even though it was below zero outside. The curtains were tattered and dusty.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A Good Nights Rest"
An outstanding value available if you're in the Evanston/Skokie area. Food right across the street and attached parking (for a fee).Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"All good, except for non-existent housekeeping"
The hotel is undergoing renovation, parts are new and some old. Our room was renovated thankfully. The breakfast was good. Our room was clean upon arrival, however housekeeping cleaned our room one time in a 4 day stay. We complained, and were offered free shampoo....The do not disturb sign was up in the early morning, but we were gone between 10 and […] 11 AM every morning, but I guess that's too late for the maids to return? "Good basic hotel in Evanston"
We stayed here again for the holidays to be close to our family (and yet not have to stay with them!). The staff have been good both times to help us in our request to be away from the bar next door. We appreciate the ability to go in and out for the garage parking, and not be trapped waiting for valet to get the car, as has happened at another local […] hotel. The staff were always cheerful and ready to help us. Breakfast was quite adequate, although there are plenty of choices outside the hotel as well. This is a basic hotel, but the upgrades to the bathrooms and inside our two rooms this year was a pleasant surprise- clean and new. The location is perfect for us. We have not had any problems with outside noise. They are renovating the outside, but aside from the signs, and having to close the doors going to the garage behind us, etc, that did not affect us at all. I can hear the train while awake, but it didn't wake up any of the 4 of us during the nights we stayed. The staff went out of their way to get the items we left in the room and mail them home to us. Thank you. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Highly recommended, very good value"
The location was excellent, in the heart of downtown Evanston. The service was very good, especially at breakfast - good hot breakfast, better than advertised. The room was very clean with the only major improvement needed is an integrated humidifier with the room heater. The air was extremely dry in the room but that may be addressed in the ongoing […] remodeling. Overall, an excellent value. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good and caring people"
We came for a memorial service for a tragic death in our family. The hotel staff knew about this and were very kind and caring to us. Much appreciated.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I was in a room that was nice and clean but it was one of the rooms yet to be renovated. The bed was clean and comfortable and the bathroom was clean and the shower was fine. The carpet was a bit worn and old feeling but clean.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"During renovation stay"
It is fortunate the hotel is currently being renovated.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Heading in the right direction."
Hotel is clearly going through a face lift. They're taking the steps necessary to make it a much nicer location.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It was better than what you would expect from a hotel like this, actually more comfortable. The beds were comfortable, the breakfast was free and decent, the room key gives you a discount at a solid restaurant/bar (prairie moon), and staff was friendly.Genuine Expedia guest review
No refrigerator no refrigerator no refrigerator... There's great restaurants close by.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Excellent staff despite renovation noise"
I had to book this hotel because everything in Chicago was sold out. I am normally accustomed to 4/5 star hotels so I didn't have extremely high expectations. The staff was extremely nice and the rooms were ok. The bad thing was the renovations currently taking place. Very loud noise in the morning which disrupted sleep. As well as window washers in […] the morning. The complimentary breakfast was much better than expected. They give you more than pastries and cereal. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Good for overnight"
Had stayed in hotel years ago, and was very pleased then. Was disappointed this time in the sad lobby area and breakfast area not quite up to par - in dire need of reburbishing. Room was clean and comfortable. Parking easily accessible. Price good.Genuine Expedia guest review
Check out took 15 minutes. Only 1 person on staff. Not good.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good hotel, great neighborhood"
The hotel is going through a renovation so the building itself is a little sub-par. I wasn't disturbed by construction or anything, which was fortunate, but I checked out the fitness room (VERY basic) and there was construction being done to the outside of the building right there. My room was great! It was spacious and clean so no problems whatsoever […] there. The hotel was also very convenient to Northwestern (about a 15 minute walk) and there are tons of restaurants nearby. There was also parking (for a fee). I'm sure the hotel overall will be great once construction is complete. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Good Overall Visit. Hotel is clean and comfortable. Hotel and rooms need overall updating. Friendly staff, parking in garage is a good deal- especially in the winter.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The Hotel is under construction. I expect it will be much nicer once they finish the updates. It is an awesome location and the people are very friendly and helpful.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great location -NU, shopping, restaurants"
Great location for any NU events. Right in the middle of tons of resturants and shopping. Great breakfast included daily. No fridg or microwave in rooms though.Genuine Expedia guest review
We stayed one night and it was nice. My husband had an interview at Kellogg and it was pretty close to everything in downtown Evanston.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Clean but shifty"
Room was clean but plainest hotel room we've ever been in ... Nothing onthe walls and the mattress foundation shifted off the frame on each bed..thankfuly they stayed on the frame and didn't fall through...Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Comfortable but noisy"
Hotel was clean, beds were comfortable, and the free breakfast was nice. It is very close to the El so there is quite a bit of noise. Our room was by the ice machine and elevators so there was a lot of noise associated with those also.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"First Week of November 2014"
Staff was great. I was greeted promptly and every question I had was answered. The room AC/Heater did not put out heat. I had a cold, and was unable to raise the room temp to enough. Hearing the elevated train was the only city noise that was intrusive.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Best Western University Plaza"
The hotel was a short walk to the metro station and in a very nice area. Staff were friendly and helpful. The view of the Chicago skyline was beautiful, but that side of the hotel is closest to the L and it was a bit noisy. Overall a nice, safe place to stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice, but smelled"
The staff was very friendly, but unfortunately I was not so happy with the hotel since it (especially my room) smelled of smoke. Also, this didn't matter so much since I had to get up early, but you can very clearly hear the train nearby.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Best Western Evanston"

"We'll be back"
We had a great stay at the Hotel. The staff couldn't have been friendlier, it was right across the street from the "hot" bar and grills, and within walking distance to a coffee shop and shopping. If we have another occasion to be in Evanston, we will definitely stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
No overhead lighting in the room which made the room uncomfortable at night.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Wil be good after renovations completed"
The location is wonderful and within easy walking distance of the CTA, restaurants and NW. The hotel is currently under renovation and as a result you'll have to deal with that situation if you stay there within the next 4-6 months. The window in my room was rather drafty. Fortunately it wasn't very cold out when I stayed. Some people may be bothered […] by the train noise from the nearby CTA lines. I didn't find it to be very bad. Once renovations are completed though, this should be a very nice place to stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
You have to pay for parking at this hotel. The hotel is older and could use improvement on the outside and lobby. The rooms and bed was excellent and very clean.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Trains run all night"
The room was clean. But the hotel is run down. And it is near a commuter train station. The trains ran all night. I slept but my wife got very little sleep.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"In a pinch."
The room was nice, everything else in the hotel needs some love, from the parking lot, to the lobby, to the elevator. It is in a great location, and has tons of potential, luckily we spent most of our time outside of the hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"If You Just Want a Place to Crash"
A bit past its prime, nobody is going to confuse this dowager with the Four Seasons. That said its clean and convenient. Its just a block and a half from the L line (although it is a long ride to the Loop), its clean and reasonably priced. The facility is clean and kept-up, but has seen its day come and go. Would be perfect for a Cubs weekend.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Visit to Northwestern"
The facility separately needs an upgrade. The common areas are plain dirty and fixtures old and worn. Access to the hotel is difficultGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Came to ther hotel to go to the Northwestern game. Could not check in, before the game, which was 2:30. They had no available parking made us go 3 blocks away and park in a public garage at hourly rates. Gave up and went to another hotel, even though my room could not be cancelled.Genuine Expedia guest review
Nice room with a very comfortable bed and pillows, I slept great. They charge for parking, I paid $14. Parking was easy to use and they are currently fixing their parking lot, needed to be resurfaced. I would stay again, nice hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Decent for the price. Close to the university and town. A bit dated.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Cheaper, comfortable, clean, but..."
If you're looking for a hotel that is cheaper, clean, comfortable, and close to CTA, then it is nice to stay here. But keep in mind that it is a bit far away from downtown, and you should change your train (from Red Line to Purple Line, or vice a versa) if you missed the rush hour express. Also proximity to the train makes it a little bit noisier at […] night. One thing that we were not pleasant with this hotel is that we were charged $40 while we were checking in, although the receptionist asking for our credit card did not told us anything about that price. We recognized this situation during our stay and when I asked another receptionist about this matter, he told me that it is an "incidental price" that they charged occasionally, and it will be cancelled in 5 days after our check-out! It is non sense since we prepaid our hotel price and did not make any changes on our reservation. They should warn their visitors beforehand about this situation.
