"In bad shape, good service"
I chose this hotel because it is very close to Northwestern's campus. The hotel is in pretty bad shape. The lobby, dining area, and rooms all need a serious face lift. The signage from outside is hard to see and entrance door isn't clearly marked. Lots of improvements could be done here. The staff was very friendly and helped us with a few toiletries […] we forgot. However, given the low quality of the hotel, I would not stay here again. I would instead go to the Hilton Orrington just down the street if I needed to be close to Northwestern. Hotel staff was extremely kind and accommodating. Hotel is older but is in decent condition. We got a great deal and the location was close to Northwestern. We would stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Super friendly staff, very accommodating. Walls very thin, beds pretty average. But good for the price, nice place to stay for a night or twoGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice people, only"
All staff members very friendly and helpfull, including the maintance crew. Unfortunately many thing were not working properly, from the toaster at breakfast to the wheelchair elevator to enter or exit the hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Affordable and clean."
This was a very functional visit for me, as I was attending a conference at Loyola. Overall the staff were very helpful and polite. I thought that the room was excellent, with a great big screen television and large, comfortable bed that slept very well. Pillows were excellent! Continental breakfast was ok and the lobby is a little run down in what […] seems to be a safe part of town. People in the area were even helpful, but I wouldnt stay there with my family most likley. "Does the trick! Super comfy beds!!"
Hotel is going through renevatiosn & we were in one of the older rooms. The beds & pillows were great & super comfy & very clean but the carpet, furniture, bathroom etc... were outdated but we didn't care because we weren't there for luxury. We came for the weekend to go to a fantastic blues show at Space which is an easy walk & the greatest venue we […] have ever been to for a show. Great bar/restaurant across the street. Getting back & forth to Chicago was a bit of a nightmare & takes forever so if you are planning on spending most of your time in downtown Chicago - stay in downtown Chicago. Staff is extremely friendly & helpful & the breakfast is excellent. Would stay there for sure again if going to a show at Space. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"A Mixed Bag"
The location is great, near CTA and a host of good restaurants (Prairie Moon across the street is a pretty good pub--take advantage of the discount offered by the hotel) and the beds are comfortable. After that, it's all downhill. The "free breakfast" is so bad that you'll be much happier heading off to a restaurant. WIFI is slow & frequently kicks […] you out. There aren't nearly enough plugs to keep electronics charged. And the staff is willing and friendly but proved unequal to the challenges of extending my staff by two days and of various problems (burst pipe, broken front door) caused by extreme cold. Unless saving a buck is your primary concern, I recommend you stay elsewhere. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"A Very Enjoyable Experience"
I had a very good one-night stay at the Evanston Best Western. The accommodations were much nicer than I expected: my room included a king-size bed, large-screen TV, couch, and other amenities. The front-desk folks couldn't have been friendlier.Genuine Expedia guest review
You can literally hear everyone next door. No privacy and not the best place for a quiet stay.Genuine Expedia guest review
We chose the Best Western over some of the other Evanston hotels because of the price difference, but for our one-day stay we would have preferred to have paid a little more. We don't mind an older building, but the carpeting and upholstery should be in decent condition. One of the arms of the sofa in our room was worn through, and the carpeting looked […] shabby. Sound is also an issue -- the gentle roar of the El trains was noticeable whenever I was awake, though I don't think it woke me up overnight. In addition, sound insulation from the hallway is poor, so I could hear other guests walking by. The hotel does offer free ear plugs for those who need them. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"The location is perfect for a stay in Evanston. Il"
The room was comfortable. Our bed had nice linens, there was comfortable seating in the room and the bathroom was well equipped. The staff was fantastic and we were really impressed by the continental breakfast.Genuine Expedia guest review
"An OK hotel"
Close to Ell and Metro lines, which creates some noise. Responsive staff. No soap or directions for washing machine. Overnight parking in an attached garage is $14/night. OK continental breakfast a little light on fresh fruit. Seemed to be undergoing renovation in some areas.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good place to stay"
Very comfortable to stay in.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Near train tracks. Really loud. Outer door was clanging on my 1st night. Had to change rooms. Heater's thermostat seemed like it wasn't working in my 2nd room. That was ok for the first night, turned heater off. But, not for 3rd night when it was freezing. Then, had to keep switching it. Didn't complain because I wasn't sure and was too busy. Third […] night also, staff collected ice from ice machine down the hall at 6am. Sounded like tin cans dragged on road. Got used to the train though. Don't recommend for business. "reservation not fulfilled"
My girlfriend and I arrived around 10 pm on the evening of our first day of a 3 night stay. Our Reservation of a confirmed King bed was "not available", so we had to take a 2 double bed room. The girl at the desk was nice enough, but couldn't do anything. The next day I spoke with the manager who had a nice demeanor, but essentially told me "well its […] not guaranteed to have that type of room when going through other sites." What's the point of making a reservation and what is the point of having affiliate contracts with sites such as this if it may or may not be available when we get there? Luckily there was a King room for us the next 2 nights. As for the rooms, they aren't the nicest. The showers are pretty mediocre; I can make that blanket statement because I used more than one of them. I would say stay at one of the other surrounding hotels. It's worth the extra 10-20 bucks. Very conveniently located three blocks from Metra train and Subway station which are to the west. Light sleepers should consider a room on East side of building facing away from trains. My low nightly-rate paid for a fine room featuring a comfortable bed, decent bathroom, small work desk (approx 30" x 20"), somewhat inadequate task lighting, a sparse […] quantity of power outlets. Hotel staff did indicate their rooms are currently being upgrading (November 2013). The hotel's small laundry facility was adequate. Pleasant staff to work with. Good marks from me. Won't be staying there again. Old and dirty bathrooms. We stayed two nights and room service didn't show up until 4:00 pm to clean the room even though we were out of the room from 9:30 am until 3:30 pm. By the time she arrived to clean it was inconvenient for us to leave. We just asked for clean towels.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location, cheap price .. BUT"
Have stayed here a couple other times because I have/had two children at Northwestern. This is a great location for a good price. I don't need anything fancy as I was there mainly to sleep, but I received a room close to the L tracks, so the noise kept me up a bit. Also, no extra blanket in the room and the one on the bed was WAY too heavy and I didn't […] realize I wanted a lighter one until half-way through the night. Sheets a bit scratchy (pretty good pillows though!) The service was good as the reception staff was very polite, but the hotel just is very "tired" and needs to be spruced up and updated a bit. I visited Evanston, actually Illinois for the first time and the staff there really helped me and my partner feel aquatinted to the town, including getting us a cab to pick us up and take us to the airport when we were heading back to California.Genuine Expedia guest review

My room was disappointing. Bed was fine. Bathroom in sore need of update with moldy caulking. Limited TV channels. Very hot in the room, and I heard the train going by every few minutes. We were in for a wedding and booked a couple of rooms for family--staff was very accommodating in giving us two adjoining rooms. "Better internet in the Czech Republic than here!"
This hotel was fairly clean and comfortable, but the supposedly free internet in the room was non-existent. I stayed on the 5th floor and had no internet during my 3 day stay. "Great location in Evanston - walk to Northwestern"
Our stay here was very nice. We'd never been to Evanston - my daughter and I were visting Northwestern University. The staff was especially helpful, cheerful and friendly from the beginning of our stay to the end. Our room had a view of Downtown Chicago - very nice. The rooms were clean and comfortable. (Internet however on the 11th floor didn't work […] during our stay.) The hotel was in a great location, close to the train station @Davis stop - we took the train to and from Mid-Way airport. "Great value for the price"
Ample, easy parking in a connected ramp but at an additional fee. Great breakfast including waffles, eggs, cereal, fruit, bagels, muffins, juice and coffee, etc. Breakfast starts a little late in the morning (7AM) but worked ok for us. The bathroom sink drained slow, but the shower was OK. We had trouble getting the room cool enough for comfortable […] sleep, which was probably related to it being in the 50's-60's outside and the A/C not thinking it needed to work. Finally discovered we could open the window then it was OK. The neighborhood is great, plenty of great food nearby. Train stop nearby. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Easy, pleasant place to stay"
The staff was wonderful - so kind and helpful. The room was comfortable, beds were comfortable, and it was nice that the comforter was a duvet (not one of those funky bedspreads that never gets washed). The bathroom was older (hadn't been remodeled) but was clean and the shower head was nice and high. You can hear the El train from the hotel, so if […] you don't like the sound of a train (I do), you may want to consider it. "Great Hotel In Evanston"
The Best Western University Plaza hotel is great place to stay in Evanston. There are few choices for lodging in Evanston and this hotel provides very nice accommodations for reasonable prices. "A nice, clean place to stay"
Was only there for one night, but it was an ok place. Woke up to the sounds of the train and jets flying overhead in the morning, but wasn't bothered by any of them overnight. Expedia needs to make sure people are aware of the $14 parking fee!!! Apparently the hotel states this clearly on their web site, but I missed it when booking with Expedia.Genuine Expedia guest review
Hotel lobby and first floor is dark, run down and in need of a face lift. Room was okay, but the safety lock on the door was broken and the bathroom had several items that were old and or working poorly. Terribly inconvenient not to be able to pull […] up, park in front and have carts available for suitcases.
