The hotel was similar to other Holiday Inns in structure. The room assigned to me was in an area that wasn't well maintained. The roof was leaking and ceiling tiles had fallen to the floor. Eventually a container was placed there but wasn't adeuqte to contain the water during the severe storm. The hallway smelled of cigarette smoke on the second floor. […] I went to other floors and found that they were better maintained than the floor on which my room was assigned. The hotel was about a mile from a great shopping area - the Woodfield Mall. Complimentary transportation was provided by the hotel to local venues. Read more

I was staying there while on business in the Chicago area for two nights. When I got to my room I could not connect to the wifi system. I had work to complete in the evening and needed to have internet access. After they tried to reset the router in my area a couple of times, and it would not let me connect, they moved me to a suite where the router […] was stronger. I never expected them to fix the issue with an upgrade to a much nicer room for two nights. They made me feel like they really appreciated the needs of their customers and they took care of what was most important to me. I will stay at this hotel from now on when I am working in the Chicago area. Great hotel, great employees, and the manager did what a manager should do. He took care of the needs of the guests. My wife and I were well pleased with the hotel. Maid service was great and the other staff was very accommodating. We had spent our wedding night in this 32 years ago and it was a very top of the line hotel. Age does take its toll, but the hotel had recently been refurbished and was still in a very good condition. I was greated by hotel staff with lots of smiles and assistance. Everyone I encountered was very friendly. In the room, there was a stain on the cloth bed overlay, and the front side panel of the bathroom counter was dirty. A nick out of the bathtub and dent in the wall was a disservice to an otherwise clean and beautiful room and suggests that small […] issues are being overlooked. The bedroom was clean and the beds were very comfortable. I liked that each guest got two pillows, one firm and one soft. The "complimentary" breakfast is a coupon for $20 of food at the restaurant downstairs. The breakfast buffet was $11. With four people in our room, $20 didn't nearly cover the buffet so we chose from the menu and still had to pay. […] The pool area was nice. There is a swimming pool, lap pool, and two hot tubs. One hot tub is adults area only. The other hot tub's jets were broken at the time of our visit. Overall, our stay was pleasant and the employees were helpful and friendly. Unique pool area; great for a family who has active kids, but way too over priced for the quality of the hotel. Clean but old rooms with litte to be excited about. The shuttle was over an hour late picking us up from the airport and late getting us back to the airport on our travel days. would not stay here again!

This hotel could use some updating. But the beds were comfortable and the room fairly clean. The major downfall is that the hotel staff did not do a very good job of enforcing the "no children in pool without adult supervision" rule. Even after being notified there were over a dozen children in the pool without an adult in site.

Unfortunately, I chose Holiday Inn because it was less per night than the hotel next door. I've stayed here before and had better experiences, so I was disappointed when I got to my room and there was a hole in the shower tile, the plumbing door was open, one of the bed sheets were either dirty or stained, the wash cloth I used was stained, the light […] was burned out in the closet, I couldn't get the toilet paper dispenser to close so the paper roll kept falling off, and there was a large poorly sealed crack in the sink basin. All in all, it was a room in disrepair. I wrote a short note about the linens and closet light being out for housekeeping and although the note was gone when I got back, nothing had been remedied. I just didn't have the time to make a list and go to the front desk because of business, but it was a disappointment, for sure. Read more

We stayed for three nights in their Holidome rooms. I wouldn't recommend those rooms because they are next to the indoor basketball/volleyball courts, etc. So the noise is audible. The rooms are not really very big. The A/C didn't seem to cool the room fast enough. The bed and pillows are decent. We had a $20/night coupon for breakfast. But the restaurant […] charges like $10.99/person for the breakfast buffet. Two kids eat free with a paid adult. But the tax is charged on the kids meals. You could also order. The holidome area didn't have good elevator access and you have to walk all around the complex to find an elevator. Would not recommend the holidome rooms. Read more

We stayed in the Holidome right by the pool and my 8 yr-old and 4 yr-old loved it. The pool was cute and clean. There is a basketball-volleyball court right there. The arcade is small but had good games. There is a large hot tub that was kept just a little bit warmer than the pool. Because of this it mainly attracted children. It could have been hotter. […] The gift shop there has been retired and is now a sad-looking glass storage room. There was a magician Saturday night who did hourly shows for the kids. I've stayed here in the past (conferences) and the only reason I was here this time was that a conference I was speaking at was being held here. I arrived at 1 PM and my room wasn't ready. I was told I'd have to wait an hour. Meanwhile, thought I'd grab a bite, but their resturant wasn't serving anything but soup and salad. When my room was finally […] ready, though there was an all-day room-service menu, they weren't operating - no food. And this place is in the middle of nowhere - no alternative eateries anywhere. And, in the middle of a major heat-wave, the airconditioning in my room (and the block of rooms) was not functioning. There were no other rooms apparently available for me to relocate to but I was assured maintenance was working on it. Nothing like the middle of summer to find out your air conditioning doesn't work, right? Now, several days later, I suspect they're still working on it as it was about 80 degrees in my room that night. Maybe it was a bad day at the ol' HI but I think I should have been comp'ed - but wasn't. Only stay there if you have to, and even then, you might seek an alternative. I will! Read more

A/C did not work well and outside temperatures were around 100 during the day... The hotel's response - sorry, the units are old and just cannot keep up!!! Elevators were in poor operating condition and 'screeched' whe operating between floors... The beds were horrible and lumpy / saggy... Avoid at all costs!!!

After being told that I couldn't stay because I had a small dog (hotels.com told me over the phone and on their website that this hotel is pet friendly) I was quite upset. I just drove 2000 miles and it was my 7 year Anniversity, so I was pretty much in tears. The hotel manager was great, he helped me put by letting me use his phone for 45 minutes to […] yell at hotels.com, providing me with water, and in the end told me that I could stay since I was so upset. He was the nicest man and helped me out a bunch. So the hotel customer service is 5+++ stars but hotels.com is at a low -100000 stars, I will never use them again!!! When making the reservation, I requested a 1st floor room which she told me would not be a problem, however it was not granted once I arrived. I was on the 3rd floor and across the hall from me was a group of girs and at about 12:30 a.m. the Security Guard was banging on the door, yelling for them to open it or he would call the police. Even though the bamboo decor was dated, and some of the tropical amenities were gone, we loved the fact that breezy tropical-themed music was always playing when we would return to our room. We liked that we were so close to the indoor pool. Even though it was a little hot, the water was comforting and fun to swim in.

This hotel is very run down with peeling paint everywhere and crumbling/cracked concrete. The area surrounding the hotel is just as bad. And to top it all off the fire alarm went off in the middle of the night. It was a malfunction but it took 2 hours for them to get it fixed so that it would not keep going off.
