My stay in Taos is was very good, as always, but my first stay at the Don Fernando was also good and comfortable.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not new, still nice"
The facility is like an apartment/dormitory complex. It's quiet and clean. Nothing is especially new, but it's very convenient to downtown Taos. The staff was friendly, breakfast was sufficient. Just fine for an overnight stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Don Fernando De Taos Thank you for your recent stay, we sincerely appreciate your business. We will strive to make things even better when you visit again. We hope to see you soon.
"Convenient and comfortable hotel close to Plaza"
We were in Taos for the Mumford and Sons concert with 8000 fans expected in the small town. Hotel rooms were in short supply and we felt fortunate to find a room at this hotel. The room turned out to be quite comfortable and clean and met our needs very well. The free breakfast the next morning was excellent. The hotel is in the process of some renovation […] which did not detract from our stay. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
I needed a refrigerator but my room did not come with one. I asked for a different room and they did not accommodate me.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Red River Bike Rally"
Good hotel, free breakfast, pool (not heated), Staff was friendly, except for one "foreigner" employee, who attempted to overcharge for an extra nights stay. No hot tub. Towels are VERY VERY THIN and GRUNGY. Toilet needs a good scrubbing to remove mold build up under rim. A/C is turned off by housekeeping, daily, which allows room to overheat and doesn't […] cool down until 3am. Was a better deal online to reserve room, than in-person. I have stayed at the Don Fernando many times in previous years. Ten years ago it was LOVELY. But it is deteriorating. Hot tub is gone. Pool was too cold, and handles broken on doors going into pool area. Dining room used to serve excellent food. Now it is only open for continental breakfast. Couch in room was ripped and dirty. I wouldn't sit on it. […] Needs a MAJOR remodel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
staff was most friendly & went above & beyond to help us find places & certain thinks we wished to buy; breakfast was very goodGenuine Hotels.com guest review
It's a good hotel. We felt safe, the rooms were clean and the guy at the front desk was super nice, he gave us recommendations on what to eat and what to do on Taos. Also this hotel is walking distance to 5 star burgers (the best burgers!!) I would stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
get the deal for 50% off, good price, lazy staff, did not clean our roomGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Not very clean and not very friendly staff or management.Genuine Expedia guest review
Very dissapointed! the hotel was misrepresented regarding smoking rooms, the maid was rude the breakfast was really bad and the pool was ice cold. Over all not a good experiounce. I will never book a room there again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
fantastic no problems. Definely will stay again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
bathroom tub did not drain properly and shower curtain needs a liner. water soaked floor through curtain. otherwise our stay was very nice thank you.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Just the basics and just out of downtown"
We were only in town for the night and chose to pay half the price at this very clean hotel, rather than stay in the tourist-y ones closer to the plaza. It wasn't even a five minute drive to the plaza. Although we didn't go in the pool, it looked well kept and clean. And the night manager was very friendly.Genuine Expedia guest review
This hotel is disgusting. The room wasn't clean, the sofa was torn, the bathroom was dirty. Just gross.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I booked this trip at the last minute but got such an amazing price. This is a great deal for any family's budget. The rooms are clean well furnished with everything you need close by. They have an indoor pool with free breakfast in the morning.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Hanuman / Taos Temple Visits"
For the price and the for the location, it is very comfortable. We always visit the Hanuman Temple in Taos and we used other hotels in the area but this is what we have been sticking with for the past two years.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Father/son ski trip"
Good value for the price.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Best value @ a convient location"
Although the facility is showing its age, it surprised me with a variety of features such as a free breatfast restaurant, an indoor pool, a pool table, campus style of motel buildings, friendly/knowledgeable staff, etc. I will definately stay with them next time if I come back.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel was definately worth the money. We were nervous based on some reviews but were pleasantly suprised. Esp for the price!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great for a ski weekend"

"INeeds some TLC"
I think this hotel could be, better maitenance and have better from desk customer service,Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not a good overall experience"
I was not pleased with our stay. Although our stay was during winter, the sidewalks had not been cleaned and were icy, rooms on second floor were cold, pool was not in working order, no lounge and breakfast was cold.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Weigh your priorities"
Bed was worn, shower was literally so narrow that if you stand squared off to the shower head, your sides touch both the curtain and the wall. But...room was clean and quiet. Pool was nice and breakfast was a served meal with a menu! Pros and cons...take them as you will.Genuine Expedia guest review
The pricing for a room here was much better than rooms in hotels in other cities. The room was fairly nice but the free breakfast was most impressive. It was served restaurant style instead of buffet style. It was a nice hotel for our ski trip and I will be staying here againGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This hotel was very inexpensive for having such a great location in Taos. Probably the best thing about our stay here was the free breakfast each morning which was served more like restaurant style instead of a self serve breakfast buffet. The rooms were cozy (not the greatest) but I would recommend this hotel to anyone.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
While the hotel was in relatively good shape and the customer service was great, the beds and bedding were in need of replacement. The mattresses were very old and felt like sleeping on a sheet over springs and the pillows were just thicker than the pillow cases. We had to get more pillows and double them up in the pillow cases just to have decent pillows. No […] plastic shower curtain liner was in the shower either. The hotel room was otherwise in good shape and extremely clean. Interesting setup where there are several smaller buildings with about 10 rooms each spread out over the hotel grounds. I think that I would spend a little more to get a more comfortable sleeping arrangement next time. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"great hotel for the family"
I stay here every year and i love it. Family friendly and always just a great experience.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Great price and comfortable room"
My husband and I came to Taos on business (we were performing at the Taos Inn). Unfortunately the Taos Inn could not accomodate us, so we stayed here instead. We thought the room was spacious and comfortable, the free breakfast was pretty good and the breakfast staff was excellent. The night front desk staff when we checked in were quite friendly, but […] the following day, when our room key was no longer working (which was inconvenient, especially when loading musical equipment), the front desk staff for the day shift was cold and unapologetic for the inconvenience. Overall I would recommend and stay there again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"not great, not horrible"
This hotel is over a mile away from the main plaza in Taos, which is kind of a downfall. The beds were old, sheets were worn to almost shreds, and pillows were pathetic. Staff was very friendly and they give a free hot breakfast.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"What happened to the hot tub?"
I have stayed here many times. I was disappointed this trip to find that the bar was closed due to construction although it looked the same as it did a year ago. I was also very disappointed to find that a deck had been built over the hot tub. These are two amenities that I look forward to after a long day of skiing. I will not be staying here again […] on my ski trips. If you don't need a hot tub or a bar, then this is a great place to stay and the price is right. The breakfast is still very good. The staff is very helpful and eager to serve it's customers . We love this place but very disappointed to lose the hot tub. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Brekfast made it worth it"
The beds were very worn. Not a comfortable matress, and the cable was fuzzy. Hot tub was not operational. However, for the price of stay, it was worth it to me. The breakfast service was great, and it was next door to the movie theatre. It was cleaned everyday and restocked. Over all I was satisfied with my stayGenuine Hotels.com guest review
My husband and I were more than pleased with our clean and comfy room, fireplace, and quiet environment. The suite was perfect, as I enjoyed my quiet time reading my Bible by the fireplace, and my husband enjoyed sleeping in, and getting up to coffee and the fireplace and his reading as well. Pleasant. The breakfast was free as promised, and we could […] order anything at all from the menu. Every employee was helpful and friendly. The room and furniture was older, but comfortable... Perfect for a ski resort. The king size bed also was comfortable. We definitely will come back to this hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Visiting Taos with family"
The rooms of the hotel need some updating and the beds weren't comfortable at all. The pool is nice for kids but the cemented area is SUPER slippery. In the span of 3 minutes I watched 4 kids slip and fall. Our room was clean and the staff was very nice. The breakfast is just a hotel breakfast so nothing great - but it's free! "Close to town centre"
OK. Breakfast serving/seating system is a little unorthodox. Coffee and Tea service was irregular, why not provide a dispenser like everybody else.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Accommodations was very acceptable during our one night stay. Thank you.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Comfortable, but outdated. Bed was a bit uncomfortable. Location was decent.Genuine Expedia guest review
Light in bathroom flickered and then finally went out. Mildew under the rim of the toilet. Bathtub did not look clean. Inside of bathroom door very dirty along the edge. 3 sets of towels when the reservation was made of 4 people. Hot items for the breakfast were not hot, only warm. The beds were comfortable. My son and granddaughters enjoyed the pool. […] Desk staff very friendly. Wait staff was very nice. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"A bit funky but nice."
This hotel had a good location for me since it was near my friend's house. It is on the highway over a mile from town center, so if you wanted to walk there it would not be too convenient. The Don Fernando is a pretty big place but doesn't feel like it. The rooms are arranged in various sort of stacked buildings, kind of a Taos architecture. I stayed […] in the Georgia O'Keefe wing. I lucked out and got a room in the very back of the hotel off the highway, and it was super quiet. I left the windows open for fresh air even though it was a cool night. But because I had a fireplace and wanted to use it, I did. The front desk will give you a Duralog, but I also found a stack of wood from some trimmed trees and asked if I could have some, so I used that too. This is not a fancy place and the furniture is, shall we say, well-used. I had a king suite and a ton of room, fridge, microwave, coffepot, nice, big, well-lit bathroom. I stayed two very comfortable nights and didn't use any maid service at all, but every question or request I had was immediately taken care of. I also did not use the pool, but it looked nice and was busy. I only ate breakfast one morning and it was also quite tasty and is included in the price. I would stay here again and recommend it to others. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Last minute choice"
Hotel could use a major renovation/repair of exterior appearances. The bathroom fixtures were water stained and grout discolored otherwise very clean. Room decor dark and dull but kept clean and in good repair. Very quiet area, staff was very courteous and helpful.Genuine Expedia guest review
An older hotel, but well kept. Housekeeping could be more thorough - but I would stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Rooms were in good condition overall except for the overpowering musty smellGenuine Expedia guest review
"Clean and very adequate."
I was impressed with the cleanliness of the suite but the sofa bed was dreadful with a hole in the upholstery and no support in the bed part. The room was on a grassy courtyard but quite dark. The staff was very nice and we were able to bring along our dog. This is a very reasonable hotel to use as a base for visiting the Taos area.Genuine Expedia guest review
