hot tub out of service, indoor heated pool poorly heated and no heat in pool enclosure.Hide a bed was broken. staff were helpful.Genuine Expedia guest review
Pleasant stay, will definitely choose this hotel over any of the "big box" hotels. Definitely got our money's worth.Genuine Expedia guest review
Basic room. Fine for the price.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This is an older motel that has great bones! The room was clean, staff very helpful and the free breakfast was plentiful. The location of the Don Fernando makes it easy to explore the Taos area. Yes, it is dated and needs a little updating, but for the price it exceeds any expectations that I had. You can see that it was a lovely resort in its time […] . Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Quiet, convenient location. Cafés and coffee shops close to hotel. Clean room with access to main roads for day trips.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Drool pillows and broke hot tub."
The room was just ok, the pillows were flat and had drool marks all over. The couch also had holes and stains. We chose the hotel because it was supposed to have a hot tub but it was broken and the in door pool was freezing. The breakfast was also a bit sad.Genuine Expedia guest review
Was disappointed by the condition of the room because the couch had a lot of dog hair on it and a lot of peeling wallpaper. My room was adjacent to the laundry room which was noisy. Didn't bother to ask for a switch because it was so cheap. The staff was nice & the breakfast was good. the Internet was slow. The hotel was too far to walk to town. Overall, […] I'd rather stay closer to town. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We found the setting to be peaceful and roomy. We felt like we were in a condo with tree-filled, grassy lawn spaces instead of the typical hotel with all asphalt surfaces.Genuine Expedia guest review
"One night at Taos, NM"
It was a relaxing nights stay, quiet and convenient, thought a little high price for one night, but okay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"great stay good value"
enjoyed the service, price+, and Taos. the hotel felt like a communityGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I thought this hotel was the best deal in town. Loved the suite with the fireplace!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Cute and clean! Super friendly staff!"
I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. I got a very inexpensive midweek rate through Expedia. (VERY inexpensive.) I was expecting bargain-basement, no-frills stuff. But It was cleaner and nicer than places I've stayed at which were 3x the price or more. Every staff member I ran across was extra-friendly and helpful, from the guy who checked me in […] to the groundskeeper to the lady who checked me out, and also the manager. The room was spacious, the bed was comfy, and there was a fridge in the room. I was expecting Motel 6/Days Inn type of atmosphere and condition, and it was definitely way nicer than that. I'd definitely stay there again! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Did the job"
We were looking for a convenient but less expensive hotel close to the Taos golf course. The room was alright, nothing great, worn but clean. They also provided breakfast (cereal, sweet rolls, scrambled eggs and sausage, and bagels). It met our needs. The bonuses were that it was walking distance from a great coffee shop (Taos Java) and Wal-Mart, which […] we ended up needing desperately, and there were several restaurants close by. It cost us 20% less than other nearby hotels. For this type of trip... it met our needs just fine. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"A good place to stay in Taos."
It was the right location at the right price. It has a nice room for the continental breakfast too. There are a few signs of wear and tear over the years (like a hole in the comforter on my bed and weeds growing in the tennis court), but my room had everything I needed and I was grateful for the reasonable rate in a tourist town.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Went for the weekend and it was everything we had hoped for!Genuine Expedia guest review
"A total dive."
The room was dirty --- a hunk of black hair in the tub, the floors had not been vacuumed, the curtains were threadbare and so we're never really "closed", stains on the carpet, marks on the walls..........I only paid ~$50 for this one night stay, and am glad I didn't pay more. It was a last minute booking due to travel plan changes, and was the only […] thing available under $200 a night in Taos. If I had had to stay more than one night, I would have paid just about anything to go somewhere else. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Peeling wallpaper, shabby, and stinky lobby bathroom. Cold and dirty pool. Poorly functioning lamp switch. Ok breakfast.Genuine Expedia guest review
The price was great. Friendly people I will stay here every time I go to taos. The room was great.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
For the money, this hotel is of the better deals in Taos. Although old, the rooms are clean and relatively large. I'll definitely stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"good value for price."
Nothing special but was fairly cheap so no complaints. The facility is aging but is clean. Breakfast is decent and in a nice room. Unusual set up in that rooms are in clusters called "pueblos" of about 20 rooms each.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Charming Adobe Style Hotel in Taos"
This hotel has lots of atmosphere and gives travelers a unique southwestern experience. The hotel is set up with individual buildings with several rooms in each. Our room was quite large by today's standard and although dated, gave it an air of authenticity. The only downside was that our room was very dark with the curtains closed, even with lamps […] on. A sheer drape would be a nice addition. The staff was friendly and breakfast choices were ample. The grounds were well kept and inviting. A nice change from most hotel/motels. I've been staying at this hotel on family vacations for going on 20 years. I LOVE this hotel. It's comfortable, clean and quiet. The rooms are always well maintained, although I did notice that it's showing its age a little more on this trip. The location is pretty great. It's a little far from the town square, but a short drive or long walk gets you […] to there. The staff is friendly and the surrounding area is beautiful. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We stayed here for three days. Everyone was very nice. Our room was clean and we didn't have any trouble with thin walls or anything. The indoor heated pool was a nice surprise. Continental breakfast also included eggs and sausage.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"The hotel is older and needs a good cleaning"
The hotel is older but it is a beautiful property. The new renovation will help greatly. Great rate. Standard hotel complimentary breakfast.Genuine Expedia guest review
The water in the bathroom was off when we arrived, but the Front Desk said a pipe had malfunctioned in another unit and the water would be back on soon, It was, it about 10 minutes. No problem.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Cheap and comfy"
The price was right- I've stayed at the Don Fernando a few times and have no real complaints. For the price, it doesn't get much better. They have a hot breakfast, an indoor pool, and a billiards table. We had a great time in Taos, and we will always stay at the Don Fernando so we'll have more money to spend having fun!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice place at good price"
Clean room. Good breakfast. Quiet. Very good price. The place is older and a little rundown but really not bad. I had a minor problem with the sink faucet and called it in to the front desk then went out for the day. To my pleasant surprise the problem was fixed by the time I got back.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel in Taos style"
Very nice lobby, better than usual serve yourself breakfast. Wi-Fi in room but signal is weak. Nice staggering of rooms so not entire wall is shared. Good parking especially for bigger vehicles. Staff is OK, not all are super friendly. Overall a very good experience.Genuine Expedia guest review
Good price and big pool. They also take pets.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good value if you aren't too picky"
The hotel was obviously a little older and had seen its most glorious times in past decades, but it was inexpensive, located on the main road in Taos, serviceable, and fairly comfortable as well as clean. If you are looking for a flat screen TV, modern furniture and those little things that go across the foot of the bed that have no function, you will […] be disappointed. There were no sample shampoos and those little nick nacks either. It was just a good place to stay and a good value for those on a budget. The staff was very friendly. The breakfast was about average. People who expect a clean bed and basic services will be happy. People who want extras and new stuff may not be happy. I would consider staying again because of the price and I'm just not that picky. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice clean hotel with some charm and character"
After a long day's drive it was nice to find a nice quiet room with a nice aesthetic. The room was spacious clean and well laid out. The morning breakfast was good basic fare but quite reasonable for this type of hotel. The only unfortunate downside was that the Internet was down and for a business traveler, this is somewhat important in this day and […] age. However, it gave me the opportunity to not log and therefore, relax a bit more than I might otherwise would have. All in all, a nice way to end the day. Would definately go back on my next trip to Taos! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Please heat pool"
I rented this room for my daughters birthday so she could swim but the pool was freezing. We couldn't even enjoy it. Everyone was complaining about how cold it was. Other thing I want to compliment on was how friendly […] the staff was. All in all nice stay just please heat your pool so it can be enjoyed. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
stay was great hotel room was clean, only issue was the broken window in the room. otherwise nice place..Genuine Hotels.com guest review
With a name and location of this place you would think it would be better. This is one of the worst places I have ever stayed. The box springs were broken with lumpy mattresses my back was very sore in the morning. Service was horrible from check in to check out, I even herd other guests complaing about there stay. "A great family get away."
We went to alamosa for the early iron days car show. We got into Taos Sunday and stayed until Tuesday morning. We loved the hotel. We were looking forward to the bar and the restaurant in the hotel but they were closed. Maybe next time. We had a f350 long bed pulling a car trailer and had plenty of parking space. We had a street light right outside […] our room so we were able to watch the car. We spent Monday in downtown Taos and even checked out the casino. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Wonderful amenities and food!"
This is a wonderful place with great amenities like the indoor pool, tennis courts, grassy courtyards, and they offer delicious breakfasts with eggs and sausage and a whole lot more. The room, although big and comfortable, was stuffy. The AC didn't work well and the windows wouldn't open. It could just that room. They are currently doing some renovations […] and repairs, and once done, the place should be wonderful. I will return if ever in the area again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
At one time this may have been a pretty hotel, but they have not done any up keep. The flower pots outside were full of weeds, the breakfast was the same for three days, powdered eggs, Pace Picante sauce, waffles in a big plastic box that were old and left uncovered. If you allow dogs someone should at least be sure they are cleaned up after. Don't […] step off the sidewalk at night. Some paint, caulk, and a scrubbing is needed. "One night stay over Labor Day"
Hotel was fine for our night stay. Had some room issues but front desk were very helpful in getting us into a new room (twice!). Rooms were very big and breakfast in the morning was decent. Parts of the hotel clearly need some touching up but for an overnight stay with our 3 year old it worked very well.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good comfortable hotel"
This hotel overall is great. The rooms were clean and the staff was efficient.Genuine Expedia guest review
The lobby and the layout of the rooms looked inviting. Unfortunately that was the highlight. The bed was broken down causing you to roll to the edge. The tv was unwatchable. "Physical plant has "lovely bones", but..."
Back in May, I reserved a suite for our one night stay in Taos in August. We were 2 adults and 2 teenage boys. The boys were to sleep on the sofa bed. Our room was dingy, tattered and appeared stripped bare of any esthetics or amenities... a real flop-house. The sofa bed was ragged and totally filthy. When we opened it up, the frame was broken and couldn't […] lie flat, totally unusable. The room had a space for a small fridge, but none there. No micro or coffee maker. We contacted the desk clerk who matter-of-factly assigned us to another room, without apology. It was now 9:00 p.m. and pouring rain as we struggled to move luggage, carry-ons, jackets and possessions to the new room. Amazingly, the new room was brighter and cleaner and not totally depressing. The mildly tattered sofa bed opened into a comfortable bed. There was a fridge, micro, coffee maker, art work on the walls. After a comfortable night's sleep, we enjoyed the complementary continental breakfast in the dining room in the main building. The main building is quite lovely but neglected and it appears they may be planning to upgrade and bring it back to some of its former glory. There is a bar that is empty and doesn't serve anything. That said, the shabby treatment we received by being dumped into the dump of a room without a second glance or apology, requiring the stressful dark and rainy relocation to what should have been our room, left us disappointed and annoyed. This facility worked out well for the one member of our party who was confined to a wheel chair. Thanks. Our room could use some updates.Genuine Expedia guest review

In a trip in which I stayed in less than nice places, though not dives, I was fortunate to find a great deal on this place on Expedia. It was beautiful, with a great breakfast, and my great regret was that I couldn't stay to enjoy it more.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Glad we selected this property"
Very pleased overall. Very roomy and had all the amenities. Bed was okay for a one night stay but not as comfortable as I would have liked. The bar was not open. The staff said it is only used for events. Plenty of places in the area to go to but I would have liked to have had a drink in the hotel. Staff very nice and I would return.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
