Only staying here for 1 night before flying back to UK but the hotel was easy to find and the staff very helpful. The hotel is abit tired in places ie. worn carpets and scratched furniture but they are in the process of refurbishing the place. Overall the room was comfortable and very clean. The free cookie on check in was a nice touch. Would definitely recommend.

Arrived in town the day of a large concert and the lobby was completely full of people trying to check in. Bar was friendly. Main complaint, building was very hot in places, for us in the hallways to and from our room, and our room was hot & muggy when we arrived! A maintenance man came right away and told us our A/C was frozen. it was nice and cool when we got back for the night, but the hotel should address the capabilities of their air system. Tub was sparkling clean and beds were amazing. Saw a palmetto bug (large roach) run across the floor at 3 am, how he got up to the 5th amazes and worries me. Still, The room was a good room for the price. it was also great how they provided a shuttle to raymond james stadium, and is so close to events.

Our stay at the Doubletree was very nice. The staff was extremely helpful. The only problem we had was the housekeeping staff would knock & then enter our room every morning about 8am (it's a good thing we had the security bar on the door). She would then come back every 45 minutes until we got up for the day (we had the room reserved for the entire weekend).

I apparently got a "great deal" on the price of the room according to a friend that lives in Tampa. I've stayed at a Doubletree once before years ago and thought it was a slightly nicer hotel compared to others but was slightly disappointed when I saw the room. It was very standard. Nothing special. They did have Neutrogena toiletries though. The hotel was under construction but I didn't hear it at all. The beds were comfy. The balcony was kind of a disappointment since it overlooked a very small courtyard and the conference room but who uses a balcony for a long time? Overall I'd probably stay there again if I got the same deal. I wouldn't pay more than that though.

I also had a venting machine close to my bedroo, which it was good for me. I expected to have a little refrigerator in my bedroom but I didn't. Any way that it wasn't a big deal for me.

The hotel was in a great location--easy to access from both the interstate and the connecting roads. My room was in excellent condition and very clean and comfortable, and the staff was friendly and helpful. The housekeeping staff does a wonderful job. But there were a few problems. The hotel's interior corridors, walkways and exterior areas were in some distress. Part of this is the result of rennovations, so it might be interesting to see the "before-and-after." Right now it is a work-in-progress, with limited elevator use, dingy carpets and construction debris around every corner. The biggest problem was the limited parking. You can park along the front--which is almost always full!--or you can choose the detached mid-rise parking garage--which is also almost always full, not to mention inconvenient when you have luggage to roll or carry. Additional parking can be found within limits on either side (a bank and a restaurant), but this is even more inconvenient and requires moving cars around during certain business hours.

I was absolutely surprised at how nice the hotel is. I saw the 3 1/2 star rating, but for the price, I assumed it would not be that great. I was wrong. It is a beautiful hotel with updated and comfy beds, clean rooms, nice staff, great food at the restaurant, nice pool. All in all, everything was great. The only things that I would classify as not up to par, would be lack of free in-room internet (I knew this when I booked the room) and no in-room microwave and refrigerator. Neither of these would stop me from staying here again. I will absolutely book here again on my next trip to Tampa.

Before you go to the hotel, check and find out what kind of convention they are having. On our trip there happen to be a Tatoo and Body Piercing convention, that itself didn't bother me, but the fact that the hotel permitted the pool to stay open all night was a bit disturbing. First call went to the front desk at 12:30 and according to the front desk the pool was open 24 hrs because of the convention. 2nd call was to the manager and he confirmed that the general manager aproved the pool to be open all night. There was screaming and yelling all night long. Needless to say I didn't get a good night sleep.

Hotel was nice and clean and definitely a good value. But, myself and many other patrons had trouble with the locks on the doors to the rooms. My key never worked. At first they told me that someone was in my room and had the deadbolt on the door -that was pretty scary since I was traveling alone. Then they told me that I wasn't putting the card in the lock properly. Then I was told the battery on the lock was old and needed re-charging...so they re-charged it. Then I was told you had to hold the handle just a certain way or the key wouldn't open the door. Bottom line...I could never get in my room without having to go down to the front desk and get help. Kind of a nuisance. And, the pool...while very lovely, it is entirely in the shade the entire day due to the towering building of the hotel surrounding the pool. It was too bad if you wanted to bask in the Florida sun...and being from NJ...that's exactly what I wanted to do. Well, I couldn't do it in this hotel. The breakfast buffet is definitely not worth the money...the omelette maker didn't know how to make omelettes - the veggies were raw and the eggs were runny; and the omelette maker was never around - the waitresses always had to call him from somewhere when someone wanted an omelette. The regular scrambled eggs were cold and the sausages undercooked. Not a good value.
