"Convenient and Comfortable"
The Metro station is right next door and the hotel was comfortable and clean. I am happy to recommend the hotel to anyone visiting the DC area.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great stay, minor problems"
Problems first, Hall carpet smelled slightly, microwave turntable did not turn and not repaired even though asked twice, burned popcorn, rooms smelled of burnt popcorn for two days. Breakfast a little pricey. Shuttle to the airport at 6 am a little sketchy at first but they got me there with plenty of time. Nice folks. Very comfortable room, 1 block […] from Metro stop, a real plus! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This is my 3rd time staying at this location. I found the employees engaged in making the stay of their guests the best possible experience. If there is one area where improvement would benefit the overall services it would be in the restaurant. While the food was exceptionally good and the prices were competitive, the breakfast bar items were "cold." […] Otherwise, I enjoyed my stay at the Holiday Inn. "It wasn't Friday 13th but sure seemed like it"
Had multiple problems at the hotel BUT the maintenance worker "Walter" never gave up on a problem and worked it until it was fixed. Door lock wouldn't accept computer key, so they moved our room and kept us close to companions in another room, same floor. TV spoke spanish, so they changed out the TV. Couldn't ask for better response.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good for the Family"
Overall the hotel was quite clean, but obviously has been around a while and is dated. My only complaints are that the bathroom is too small and the air conditioning didn't cool the room enough for my satisfactions. However, in the hotels defense the entire country was facing 100 degree temps or higher that particular week and their system probably […] just couldn't keep up. The staff was outstanding and would bend over backwards if asked. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The stay at the hotel was good, especially being so near the transit station. This allowed us to visit the DC area and not have to worry about the travel or parking. We thought that your restaurant needs some work. Althouhg the food was acceptable, it was rather expensive "for what you get" based on your current menu. We noticed that there was not a […] lot of customers. (maybe we just missed them) You may want to consider lowering your menu prices (about 20 to 25 percent). We believe that this could be more than made up by increased usage by hotel guests and the general public. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Please bring your own fan as the AC doesn't work."
I don't know what it's called "Holiday Inn". The Air-conditioning didn't work the whole night. Maintenance person came out, gave us some story about tiller not working & how he has reset it but it didn't change anything. At 11:15 pm, the manager finally changed our room but guess what, that room didn't have functioning A/C as well. My kids & I had to […] sleep with a fan & sweated all night. In the morning even though I complained, "Holiday Inn" didn't even give me half a night or something as compensation. Horrible. Will never stay there again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The Holiday Inn Eisenhower Avenue was a real good choice. The room was clean, up-to-date, and the service staff did a great job keeping the room clean. It was a bonus that you could park your car on-site and they didn't charge for doing so. It's a simple, block away walk to the Metro, which made it convenient to get to nearby Old Town Alexandria, DC, […] and the National Mall. I can't speak for the hotel restaurant or other amenities as our trip didn't allow time to sample those. But I'd definitely go back. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Newly remodeled, easy Metro/highway access"
Our family booked 3 rooms for a 5 day stay in June 2012. All of the rooms were clean and well maintained, but the bathrooms were extremely small. The hotel had just finished a major renovation and everything was in great shape. The hotel staff was helpful and pleasant, in contrast to the dining room staff. If at all possible, stay away from the restaurant […] as the food is of poor quality and the service is below average even on their best day. After the third day of a poor breakfast, we decided to strike out on our own in search of an alternative. Across the street is the Hoffman Building, and there are several eating places (Starbucks, etc.) that are all better than the hotel restaurant. The hotel is only a one block walk to the yellow line Eisenhower Metro Station. The station is only one stop away from the Old Town Alexandria (a must-see) area via the King Street metro. We always felt safe in the neighborhood, and the free parking was something that is somewhat hard to find in the DC area. Upon checkout, we were able to leave our bags at the hotel for a full day of sightseeing and then the hotel provided a free ride to Reagan National (they bon't go to Dulles due to the distance). Would I stay there again? Yes. Would I eat in the restaurant? No way. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Family of 4 visit DC"
Very convenient location, staff were friendly and helpful. The proximity of the Metro and hotel shuttle made getting around very easy. It was nice to have free laundry facilties but there was only one washing machine for the entire hotel. The hotel was clean and recently renovated.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Great Hotel, Bad Location"
Liked the hotel and the room. Very clean. My only complaint was that it wasn't easy to get in and out of. That being said, the metro is very close, as are numberous restruants and even a movie theater. No grocery stores, pharmacies or gas stations close by that I could find. Close to the interstate, but the surface roads are a maze in that area.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Adequate business hotel near Metro"
For the price, very reasonable - nothing fancy but good amenities including decent size fridge - also close to a metro and a few good restaurantsGenuine Expedia guest review

"7 days of being happy!"
Stayed a total of 7days and was very pleased. Durning "my" stay there were a lot of bus groups coming in and out and this did not effect me what so ever. School bus tours to Senor Citizen groups. They all stayed on different flows. (I will not say the hotel I stayed at in March but there were teen bus tours and some of the kids stayed on my floor. "wonderfully located near metro"
Since we drove for our vacation, it was great to park & not have to drive anywhere till we left. The hotel provided transportation to near by destinations of your choice & is very close to the metro to go into DC. Movie theater near by also great (if we had more time), staff at front desk very helpful with tour info & making arrangements also. Overall, […] very happy with our stay & would stay there again. The room was great, bathroom was also newly remodeled and shower was fantastic. The newly opened restaurant may scare you with the prices but believe me when I tell you the food was fantastic! "close to Metro for easy access to Old Town and DC"
Service was good, and the room was clean. Walking distance to meto and eateries. We usually like to stay at hotels that offer at least a little breakfast buffet. They have a resturant on the premise but you do not always have time to stop for a full meal. The service at the resturant was very slow. They do offer free coffee, but a free pastry or muffin […] might be good gesture. When we can get a room at other local hotels, the breakfast buffets are included with your stay. I never know when I am coming to the area due to my work and it is not always easy to stay where you want to stay due to the busy Washington Metro area. Over all we were pleased. We stayed here for our vacation to see Washington DC. Easy access to the Metro made it very easy to see DC. Hotel was nice and clean. The room was very nice. Restaurant service was a bit slow, but food was good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Staff made up for location"
I was concerned about staying in Alexandria, so far from the sights and restaurants, but the staff made sure a shuttle was available to ferry guests wherever they wanted to go, whether for dinner in Old Town or groceries at Whole Foods. And the Metro was a mere 3 minutes away, making it easy to get to the National Mall.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Convenient and comfortable - don't eat at there"
This hotel was very close to the metro, so the convenience alone would cause me to book again while visiting Washington DC. We used the metro to visit DC and Old Town, where there is a free trolley to King Street, awesome! The indoor pool was heated and clean and a big bonus! The hotel was clean and safe, and I did not hear the traffic or other guests. […] The other guests included some school groups, but we were well enough away to only hear them in the lobby when were were leaving or coming back! The staff was courteous and helpful for the most part. Here are the exceptions: As we arrived during the evening (11pm) after 5 hours in the car, the night desk clerk could have been a bit more courteuous and helpful. He said we didn't have a reservation and I had to pull out my Hotels.com printout while he scowled at me. Then when I asked about the location of the metro, he vaguely pointed at the front of the hotel and grunted. After a long drive, the beds and pillows were a dream! Second night too, so I know that it was not just being overtired. The restaurant is to be avoided. We waited about 15 minutes to be seated for breakfast. The restaurant was not full to capacity but slightly busy. We were seated, but no one came to take our order for 40 minutes. I tried making eye contact with various waitstaff and even calling out, but we were ignored, as the waitstaff for what I could see, wandered around aimlessly. The overworked hostess finally came to us and was suprised we didn't have our food, let alone hadn't had our order taken. She took our order. After that, a waiter came with bread - cold underdone toast - and told us it came with our meal. We got our drinks, minus a water, and it took about 10 minutes more after that to get water. By the time we got our food, the restaurant had almost cleared out, except for the line waiting to be seated. The hostess was trying to clear tables, get orders and placate other diners as, again, the waitstaff seemed to be hiding or wan Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Pretty good stay."
I arrived at the hotel 20 minutes before check in. I had an important meeting at 3:30, so I needed to check in at 3 PM to make sure I was at the meeting on time. I waited until 3 PM to check in where I was told it was going to be a 45 minute wait because they needed to clean my room. The hotel was nowhere near close to capacity, so I'm not sure why […] they couldn't just give me another room. I saw 2 people check in after me while I was waiting in the lobby who both got their rooms and did not have to wait. I ended up having to change my clothes and get ready in the bathroom and head out to my meeting and check in afterwards. This was a huge annoyance for me. I feel like if I'm paying for the room at 3 PM, I should be able to go to my room at 3 PM. I seem to always have this issue at every Holiday Inn I stay at, so I really would prefer to never use HI again. Other than the check in, everything else seemed pretty ok. The bed was very uncomfortable. My toilet was stopped up and actually overflowed the first time I used it. I had to get someone to fix it. I didn't try out the pool or the fitness center so I cannot comment on those. Overall the hotel is just ok. With the constant check in issues, I will not stay at HI anymore. "Total Disappointment!"
My wife and I recently traveled on our Honeymoon to MX. We booked this hotel because it says that it is only 2.5 miles or so from Reagan National Airport (DCA). NOT SO MUCH, it is a 20 - 25 minute drive away. When I booked, I called and confirmed that they could get us to the airport at 4:30am for our 6:30 flight, and then pick us up from the airport […] at 11pm when our flight arrived back. I was told that this would not be a problem. Upon arrival, i was told that the earliest shuttle for guests was at 6:30am, and the latest shuttle was 10:30pm. The hotel manager, Cordelia, acted like it was a chore for her to even think about accomodating us. At that point, she said that there was a shuttle for flight crew leaving at 4:45am and we could get on that, and then when we flew home, there would be a shuttle picking up flight crew that night and we would have to call the hotel to see if they were in the area at the time our flight arrived and could pick us up. Really, I am paying to stay in a hotel to not have this type of hassle with airport transfer!!! Not to mention the receptionists at the check-in lobby were very slow to get us checked in, and in no hurry to take care of us, at either check-in, even though we were the only people in the lobby! Upon entering the room, it was clean, and did have a decent, although small, Samsung flat screen television. However, the room was marketed as 1 King bed - those beds would be lucky to be considered Full size. Very Disappointing Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Disappointed..."
I was given a room but the internet did not work in the room so they moved me to a different room on the same floor with busload of teenagers who were waking up at 6am every morning and waking me up as well (I am from CA so it was 3 am for me!). They did not make the room either and then when discovered their mistake kept sending the clean up crew every […] 30 mins knocking on the door (first time they rung the bell) while my daughter was asleep because they were off the clock at 5pm!!! Finally I had to wake up my daughter and drag her out of the room so that they could clean it... Oh, and the second room had a toilet holder that came right off the first time I used it. "Worst bed ever"
The mattress was so old it was bent on one side. You would slide out of the bed. It offered absolutley no support at all. The elevator remained broken during my whole stay. Eventhough they are fixing a lot of things in there, housekepping service did not clean the room completely everyday. Hair remained in the shower from one day to the other. The sink […] was broken, the toilet paint was coming off the seat, the towel hanger came off the door. All I got was a neck and back ache after sleeping there for 6 nights. Hotel did not measure up to on- line pictures. Discovered on arrival it was under renovation. Our room smelled of cigerette smoke even though it was supposed to have been smoke free.
