The hotel was just okay. Except for one gentleman, the staff wasn't friendly or particularly helpful. The wifi was outrageously expensive ( a pet peeve if mine) and breakfast was way overpriced. It got warm for part of our stay, but the A/C for the entire hotel was turned off. The view out the window was of people in their offices. The location is good […] and the place was clean. We were in Cologne on a hot day and were looking forward to an air conditioned room. Little air came out of the vent but it was still too hot. If you are going to be here in the summer I would NOT RECOMMEND this hotel. Also we tried opening the windows because it was so hot but we could only get them to open partially. The first room we were assigned smelled like smoke, even though the room was non-smoking. The front desk was informed and they changed our room right away and were very apologetic. New room was very clean. We left the room for maybe 10 minutes and by the time we got back, beds made, towels hun up...very efficient! On a rainy day, hotel had umbrellas […] for loan. Overall GREAT service! And I never say this about hotels, but they truly stood out. I would stay there again in a heartbeat. This hotel was sufficient. The staff was very nice and they did give us a free upgrade - wonderful! However, we were there at a hot time of the year and the air conditioning in our room did not work at all. They supposedly "fixed" it several times but it was still like a sauna in there and we were extremely uncomfortable for much of the time (we finally […] gave u on the a/c and opened the window instead but it was no better). This hotel is a 5-10 minute walk from the central area of Cologne, very near the river. Its most impressive features were the oversized swimming pool and sauna. Remember this is a basic 4 star hotel and there was a discounted rate when I booked and for the money it was good value.Located not in the centre of Cologne but within 10 to 15 minutes maximum walk to the Cathedral (turn right out of hotel and walk along the Rhine embankment and look for the spires of the cathedral is the best way to get to the centre […] of town). On embankment close to Hotel is Chocolate Museum & Olympic Sports Museum are worth a visit. Breakfast in hotel expensive and wouldn't recommend it for every day of your trip.Disappointed with cooked breakfast which was warmed up particularly scrambled egg. Biggest disappointment particularly for avid sports fans, no English channels on TV in rooms when we visited.Did make enquiries about buying channels but was told not available due to reception problems. If you don't like feathered pillows make sure you ask for an alternative. Overall hotel is fine, clean and quiet and for the same price would stay again. Didn't come into contact with hotel staff much but were pleasant and helpful when we did. As for Cologne, you need a reason to visit. The hotel is located close to the Rhine (near the Chocolate museum) and provides a pleasant walk into central Cologne (5-10 minutes). The room was clean and comfortable with air conditioning. The shower and basin are actually within the room itself (toilet separate) but there is a large curtain to divide the room from the shower. This was not a problem […] for us. We had a room only package so did not sample breakfast which was fairly expensive so we had breakfast in the town at a more reasonable price. The hotel has a swimming pool which is free to use so a nice added extra. The only problem we had was the local church rang its bells at 7am every morning for a sustained period but not a problem if you're an early riser. Comfortable, clean hotel close to the river, Heumarkt and about a 10 minute walk to the old town with all the restaurants and bars. We walked from the main railway station next to the cathedral and it took us about 20 minutes. Very helpful reception staff, pleasant enough room with big comfy beds. Zum Beispiel: - Laute Kirche - Extrem teure Internetgebühren (halbe Std. = 5 Euro!!!!) - Ständige Abwassergeräusche - extrem dünne Wände, sprich noch mehr Geräusche... Lediglich die Lage war gut und das personal freundlich! Ich würde nicht nochmal in diesem Hotel übernachten!
