Crowne Plaza Ventura Beach - Ventura

The location was perfect for me! I wanted to be close to the ocean and here you are! The views from the rooms are fantastic! In the morning I walked the beach trail which put me in a great mood. This was all so lovely that the occasional train and the freeway sounds didn't even bother me. The rooms were clean, the bed comfy and the shower, strong.

The hotel was nice, but not for the price, even at a discount. They also had a $12 a day parking fee, which was a little irritating. The A/C did not work, so we had to open the slider to get cool air, which was not so bad, until about 2am, when a train went by, right under our hotel, which sounded like it was running thru our room! First time in my life I was charged for parking at the hotel I'm staying. $12/day. They there trying to charge me for for 3 bottles of water that we did not drink, and since we had 2 rooms and only one car they there trying to charge me for parking of 2 cars. However after the overcharges was pointed to the staff they took it off without arguing. Great location, walking distance from downtown Ventura very easy lots of great shops and restraunts all in walking distance. Hotel was nice but be prepared for parking fee that wasn't told to us until we left. Other than that the stay was nice hotel clean and safe would book again.

We stayed there on our wedding night. Accidentally left behind a pearl necklace and a phone charger. Housekeeping found the charger but claimed the necklace wasn't there. Well it didn't grow legs and walk out on it's own.

We came in for two nights for business in Ventura. Told front desk needed a very quiet room since we were getting ready for a multi-million dollar meeting. We ended up next to a family with a newborn, baby screamed for hours. Front desk could not move us so this continued for 2 days straight. Ended up needing ear plugs to sleep last night. Thermostat […] broken so unit would not turn off, very hot, this was reported to front desk but never fixed. Bathroom tub water ran steadily the entire weekend, they told us they would need to disassemble the bath tub fixtures and we wouldn't be able to use it. Someone had either cut themselves or spill something red at the inside entry to the room, this was not cleaned up, ended up throw a towel over it since we were not sure what it was, all we new was red and wet. The staff were nice but never actually resolved any of the problems. Will never stay again and I travel and I'm a priority club member and stay at Crowns all over the US. NEVER again. Read more

Looking at the pictures, I expected a nice hotel and I found an ok hotel. The furnishings were old. The bathroom lights had heated the ceiling so much it was charred black and the chairs were folding chairs. It wasn't worth the drive. The area nearby had a lot of nice shops.

This hotel frustrates me. I have stayed a few times and always walk away disappointed. They nickel and dime you into pure rage. You think you are getting a great deal on the room but after the fees you could have just paid regular price somewhere else. $10.00 a day parking, 9.99/day internet in the room, the tiny juice at the breakfast bar was $4.00. […] The walls are paper thin and getting out of the parking lot is an extreme headache with the ticket system they utilize. Allow extra time to get out as chances are you will get stuck at the gate, hold up everyone else trying to leave, and have to run back in to fix it. Nothing special considerig that the hotel has access to the beach, not a very attactive city. The train rail is very close to the hotel and for the most sensitive ones can be a noise issue all night long.

Staff was awesome, will bend over backwards for you. Location is awesome. Hotel itself is old and nearing the useful end of it's life. Needs major renovation or tear down and rebuild. Beds are terrible. Bar is way overpriced at $8.58 per drink. And you have to pay for parking. Internet was free...when it works. The hotel is right next to the 101 freeway and a railroad track. Since the hotel has not been updated with quality windows and outside doors the sounds from the road and trains just come right into the room. The carpet in the room is old, stale and full of stains. There were two "decorative" pillows which looked like there were dried stains/fluids […] on them...simply disgusting. To top it all off when we made our final check before checking out of the room we took a look underneath the bed. There we found a condom, still new in its wrapper thank heaven. We only experience one issue while staying here. We were woken up around 1am by the people partying next door. They were yelling during a drinking game and had the music going. We call the desk and somebody came immediately and addressed the issue, no more did they leave and the partying started back up again... another call to the front desk and a […] security guard was sent up immediately in which the room was cleared out. Someone had pretty obviously been sick in this room. I noticed a slight smell when I first went into the room. I had a late check in, very tired, and I went to bed. Woke up after a couple of hours of sleep to a horrible smell. I tried to ignore, looked around a bit, stepped in a wet spot on the carpet. Washed my feet and went back to bed, too tired […] to deal with changing rooms, plus the hotel filled up with city college kids. Fantastic location for access to the beach and the lovely town of Ventura. The front of the hotel is just yards from the beach. Excellent road and rail link to Los Angeles and Santa Barbara. The hotel is strategically placed perpendicular to the ocean and within walking distance to Main St that has cute shops and good restaurants. However, it is located right next to the highway and you cannot leave the balcony doors open without hearing the cars/ambulance and trains pass by (NOISY). I thought I'd be able to listen to the relaxing ocean […] waves :(. Maintenance should not knock on your door to see if you've left before check out at noon, but they started KNOCKING on our door by 8:30 am... this was very annoying. Also, any room you get will have an Ocean "View". OCEAN VIEW MEANS you get a room above the 5th floor. But in EVERY room, in order to see the "view" you MUST STEP OUT INTO THE BALCONY. I think this is FALSE ADVERTISEMENT. Lastly, parking costs $10 (whether you park yourself or they give you a "pass"). They dont inform you that there is PUBLIC PARKING right next to the hotel, too. The staff were pleasant and quick to accomodate requests--eventhough the hotel was busy with conference attendees from at least 3 different organizations. We had a reasonably priced room with an ocean view and found a number of good restaurants within walking distance. I am looking forward to booking with this hotel again.
