"Great 4 day Stay in Santa Monica"
Great location. This was really in the heart of Santa Monica. we walked everywhere- shopping and restaurants all around. When driving could jump right on the I-10 to get anywhere. There is currently renovation going on...we requested a room away from the freeway. we got 319, which overlooked Colorado ave. It was very quiet- except for the AC which was […] wheezy. the hotel loaned us beach cruiser bikes at no charge, and we rode the wonderful bike paths down to Venice. highly recommend. Because of the renovation, hotel offered us 1/2 price parking. I cannot fault this hotel, it was a very good stay, and compared to the other hotels around, we got an excellent package deal. "Nice and convenient"
Enjoyed my stay even with the construction going on. Thankfully I was planning to get up early anyway. Easy walk to beach.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

the entrance can only be entered safely from one direction, parking is limited for guests and expensive. construction started early in the morning around 7 am during the week. the hotel is very close to the pier just be careful when walking out of the hotel. there is a mall and a macdonalds across the street.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great location! Walk to pier, dinner and shopping.Genuine Expedia guest review
We were pleasantly surprised upon arrival. When you book something that you haven't seen on-line, you are a little hesitant. But, they had updated and everything was clean. All employees were courteous, friendly and professional. Would definitely stay there again. Did not like the fact that homeless hung out across the street of hotel (right in front […] of McDonald's). Always asking for hand-outs. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Convenient to pier and beach"
Was very happy to have a hair dryer and shower cap provided as they were not provided without charge at a luxury hotel in Las Vegas I stayed in the evening before. Room was clean and comfortable. Bathroom needed updating but was not off-putting.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Location and customer service"
The staff was amazing and the location couldn't be beat. I'd definitely stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"For the Price it was Ok"
The property is ok...don't expect anything too much...dated even with the partial facelift. You get what you pay for so don't expect more then an okay room with a good location. The staff though was very good. Helpful, engaging, and nice. They deserve cudo's and management should recognize them for that.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We stayed two nights and thought the price was very reasonable considering the location. It's a short walk to the Santa Monica yacht harbor and pier and also to the downtown area. Room was comfortable and included a nice couch, TV, and bathtub- shower.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great value, great location, not for pool lovers"
Upon arrival at this hotel I was a little worried. It is sandwiched between a large road and a freeway! Unbelievably, it turned out to be a great spot - two minutes to the Santa Monica Pier, two minutes to the central shopping/restaurant area. I am a light sleeper, but could not hear any traffic noise when the air conditioner was on. We were on the […] 'road' side of the building, and even when the air was off, exterior noise did not keep me awake. The rooms have been recently remodeled - very nice. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. There was ample parking. If you get a good rate, this hotel is a good value for its location. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Good Location, Average Rooms"
Hotel had a great location. Some of the rooms could use remodeling especially in the bathrooms. Otherwise room was spacious and comfortable. The pool area is small and not very relaxing because it is right near the freeway (really loud), however there were always chairs available and never crowded. The hotel was very close to the beach, pier, downtown, […] and third street which all were within walking distance (i didn't rent a car). If you are looking for more upscale or swanky accommodations this wouldn't be the place for you. However, if you are looking for a comfortable room that is affordable and has a good location I would recommend. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"On the fence...."
Hotel entry was obstructed by construction, was hard to enter. The ladies who checked me in were awesome. I was a little disappointed by the appearance of the hotel, pictures looked a lot better than what it actually was. The rooms were very clean, hallways had a slight odor. Walls are very THIN, we heard a lot of things coming from the next room which […] were pretty frightening... but that was due to the occupant next door to us, not a fault of the staff. Location was great. Walking distance to the pier, beach and shopping. Would I stay here again? Probably not, due to the fact I am a single mom with 2 young kids. I will pay extra to stay somewhere else. I would only recommend to other families with older kids, or college friends who do not need the sleep, peace and quiet. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"great location but not that great hotel"
Was not satisfied with the hotel itself... I loved the area but the hotel has just this as great, the area... They don't do any effort and just use the fact they are perfectly located.... If you want to stay for the location then it is the perfect place, otherwise it is too pricey for the quality of the hotel/...Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Early check in no problem. Front desk staff helpful with directions and tips. Decent room. Very comfortable bed. A bit more pricey than I would usually choose for a family stay but with the great location it is understandable. Would stay at this hotel againGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"GREAT customer service"
After booking the hotel online and going to check-in, the room I had requested was unavailable. However, I received a DOUBLE upgrade! The room my girlfriend and I were moved into was very spacious and clean! Only disappointment was no refrigerator in the room. The robes were warm and comfortable, they even provide beach towels for use! The location […] of this hotel was one I would dream about! ONE block from the pier! They are also just far enough from 3rd street where traffic isn't overwhelming, but still walking distance! Customer service was absolutely amazing! From the front desk, valet, to housekeeping I have NO complaints. Everyone was attentive, friendly, and personable. Even after check out and I had left my favorite pillow in the room, one of the valet attendants OFFERED to escort me back up to retrieve it without hesitation! My girlfriend and I had a great time! I will definitely be back!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
not fancy, but great location. close to beach and shopping. pool was nice but adjacent to busy road so it was a bit noisy.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
it seemed a bit pricy but for the location can't be beat. I can't imagine paying more money at another hotel and having anything better. Really quiet hotel. just steps away from Santa Monica Beach. Just across the street from Del Frisco Grille and tons of shopping. Guys don't take the wife if you go. You will regret it. If a woman reads this, just ignore […] my comments and don't believe anything I've typed realizing I'm just a conservative male who don't know anything. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Loved the location, hotel was clean...works for me"
Awesome location! We stayed with our two year old daughter, and were able to walk right out the front entrance and head to the beach, explore Santa Monica Pier, or shop at the Promenade. It was also really convenient to be able to run across the street (to either Subway or McDonald's) and grab her a snack or small milk. I would definitely book again […] at this hotel if we are ever in Santa Monica again. Our room was quiet, and we never heard any other guests (unless we were in the hallway) and we never heard any traffic (we could see McDonald's and Subway from our room, and were on the 5th floor). We decided to have a mini fridge brought to the room after arriving, and maintenance brought it in for us within about 30 minutes. (I recommend getting one if you're traveling with small children, so you have a place to store drinks and small snacks or leftover food.) The bed and sheets seemed a bit uncomfortable to me, but I feel that way about most hotels, so it wasn't a big deal. The parking was also expensive (31 dollars per night), but the other hotels I researched in the area charge a similar fee...although I think there may be some parking garages nearby that are cheaper. We'd stay again, because the location can't be beat and I felt like the hotel was clean. Some of the curtains could use updating, but since it was clean, I really didn't care about that. "Needs some major renovation."
I gather this was a Holiday Inn not to long ago. This hotel is in major need fo some renovation. The bathrooms are particularly worn, the air conditioning is loud and clunky. "Very happening location"
Great location if you like the hustle & bustle of the pier area - easy walking to lots of shopping, restaurants, the pier & the beach. Pool is tiny - could use an upgrade. The traffic noise at the pool is quite loud, but didn't detract for us. If you like a more laid back atmosphere, get further away from the pier. I like hotels to have some great public […] spaces like the Doubletree does (garden seating areas, large pool patios) - this hotel did not have that. Never went in the on-site bar or restaurant. "Great personnel but hotel needs renovation badly!"
Hotel staff was great and very accomodating. The lobby and restaurant area were updated and clean, however the condition of the rooms in the hotel is very run down and in dire need of renovation. Great hotel, great service-very friendly and helpful staff. Would've liked a room with a window that opened is only dissapointment. Great view of city and ocean from our room.Genuine Expedia guest review
"A Good Value"
The hotel was clean and well situated to see the sights offered in Santa Monica. It's not a top of the line hotel but is well worth the cost as compared to other hotels in the vicinity.Genuine Expedia guest review
"expensive for what it is"
disappointing overall because the room rate isn't justified with the poor air conditioner cooling abitlity, no wi fi on the 7th floor, slow flushing toilets, rotting portion of the bathroom lower door frame, and very sloppy grout work on the bathroom tile floor. also, the parking is expensive.Genuine Expedia guest review
very satisfying; great location.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Lots of freeway noise in a worn out hotel"
The hotel is trying but the every room faces either a busy street or the freeway. You literally look down onto the 10 freeway so it's noisy all the time. The building and grounds are ugly. The rooms have old fashioned, noisy air conditioners that cycle on and off all night. The bathrooms need updating. It's very expensive because of it's great location. "terrific location and okay stay"
It's obvious that it was a Holiday Inn until March 1, 2013. The place needs upgrades and carpet cleaning. Not sure room cost was worth it. Most of front desk staff was great...although not a good impression @ first. One heavy set guy, I think not reg. staffer, was sooo rude and abrupt when I checked in. I was early..I knew that! Just wanted to leave […] my bags and head to beach & pier. Hotel is a super location. I did wait for an upper level (floor 6) room. There was no way anyone could get good sleep if so close to main avenue. Front desk guys need to tone down the cologne wear...yikes, 'aromas' were clashing most everyday. "Not worth the money – Regarless of location"
For $300 a night I was expecting a pretty nice hotel, but knowing it is very close to the pier and the Promenade I was willing to forgive some things. First we drove up we would like help with our luggage (this is not a motel) but we had to grab the cart ourselves and bring the luggage up the tiniest elevator. Once we finally managed to get to the […] room we had a view of the hwy and with the smallest bathroom. I then tried to turn on the tv, did not work, as well as the light on the same breaker! I hit the "front desk" button on the phone and it brought me to another guest's room, who was very angry that I was the 3rd person who had done this! She was rude to me, even though it was not my fault, but regardless this is a problem that should never happen. After reaching the front desk, complaining about the connecting room, incorrect phone connection, and blown out breaker they sent up a maintenance man. He, who was very nice and worked rapidly, took about 30min to get the breaker to work. It does not stop there..later that night we wanted to watch a late night movie, as their advertisement running on the first channel intrigues you about the "still in theater selection." Can you guess? Selecting the movie did not work! Called the "operator/front desk" and was told that the hotel was a Holiday Inn and now is turning into a Wyndham and there have been issues...stated he would call me back as soon as he tries to fix the issue...never got a call back, not even the next morning! "Great Location - Close to Everything!"
Perfect location - just one short block to the Santa Monica Pier. There is shopping galore and many reasonable restaurants to choose from. We happened to stay there during the Santa Monica marathon (which wasn't our fault), so traffic leaving our Hotel that morning was a little crazy, but we made it! The only downside is the price for parking. The Hotel […] charges $30 a day for parking - whewww!!!!!! That was extensive. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"location, location, location"
The best place from a location perspective without question. The hotel is not perfect but going to Santa Monica, Venice, Hollywood, downtown LA, Beverly Hills, USC & UCLA, one does not expect to spend much time in their room so location is what matters most. It was also close to public buses which are great for getting around the area. We never ate […] at the hotel or used the pool (through the garage and to the left - odd) but the room was clean enough and the staff was friendly. In fact, everyone in LA was great - it is a very live and let live atmosphere where everyone does their own thing without hassle from others. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Apparently we caught the hotel in transition from a Holiday Inn to a Wyndham. The "Ocean View" sold to me here means our room was more of a "Freeway" view. The rush hour traffic served as a wake-up call each morning if the immense housing construction project just beyond didn't first. Very average hotel with dated rooms, not-great furnishings and $31 […] parking. There are many options out there for the money - I'd skip this place. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Brought my daughter to California to visit UCLA. Thought it would be fun to stay in Santa Monica. I was right. The hotel could not have been in a more perfect location. "Around the corner from my son's home."
The Wyndham was a last minute choice but turned out to be my choice for all future visits. It was inviting, clean, and professionally run. The suite had a wonderful view of the ocean and the entrance to Pacific Coast Hwy. The room was well laid out and had all the amenities I needed. The rate was excellent. I had an incident the first night with a rowdy […] couple next door and the staff was very helpful and courteous in taking care of the situation and preventing any further problems. There were several eateries close by, a boardwalk within 1 1/2 blocks away, the neighborhood was quite pleasant with intermittent historic buildings, and a wide spread of nationalities and ethnic groups represented within the architecture and decor, the Pier was quite close, and there was more to see than I could possibly take in with one visit. I felt quite safe there too. The security made themselves known from the moment I stepped into the foyer. I appreciated this since I was alone on this visit. This 7-story hotel stands at a key location: within yards of the Santa Monica Pier, 2 blocks from Third Street Promenade shopping, and 4 blocks from the I-10 on/off-ramps. I was torn on where to stay in Santa Monica and decided on the Holiday Inn. While the location is ideal if visiting the pier, the hotel did lack in a few areas.
