This hotel was clean, new, had great food and was close to everything. It was very surprising for a Holiday Inn and better than many hotels I have been staying in recently.

The room was nice.. Small but clean well organized and quiet. I booked here because of the pool and gym. I arrived late evening and just had time for a workout and swim. When I got down to the pool there was a crowd in it, drinking, yelling, running around. I decided to go to the gym first but the noise was so loud that down a hall and through another […] door that I knew I wasn't going to be able to relax. I called the front desk. The manager was on his way and other than telling them not to drink, did nothing. I came back 20 minutes later and then same behavior was continuing. I called the front desk again and the front desk clerk told me I could get up at 5 am if I wanted a quiet swim. Then in the morning I was woken up by the maid walking in, thankfully I woke up when I heard the card unlock the door and before the door was open. You can put all the nice things into a Hotel but it is the service that decides if I return. I have no interest in dealing with this kind of service again. The hotel was entirely sold out the night I stayed there. The breakfast bar was a little underserviced (only one person filling coffee and collecting checks. Room was clean. Bed comfortable. Decore modern. Staff polite. At one point I called the front desk wondering where I might find a vending machine so I could buy a couple bottles of water. This was a very nice hotel for the price and a Holiday Inn. The rooms were clean and kept nice by the staff. There was an issue with the parking garage elevator, so I asked for the $17/day fee be waived and they agreed to do so.

While there is still some exterior renovation going on, my room was on an upper floor and so I wasn't bothered at all. The interior renovations are well done, and the rooms are serene and well-appointed.

The hotel was under renovations of which I knew beforehand. My room was very modern and comfortable. The restaurant food was very good and I would eat there even if I was not staying at the hotel. I will be back next month.

1) we found out that the hotel was going through renovations and called the number for the hotel and spoke to someone at Holiday Inn who did say the pool was open. When we arrived it was not. Very disappointing to us and the kids for our mini-vacation. 2) neither the web-site or reservations lady mentioned that all ameneties were not operational: no […] room service or no in-hotel restaurants. even the guest services book in the room did not say so. we had to ask and found out that no room service, kitchen was closed and restauruants were under renovation also. 3) hotel is concerned with security; apparent by the "safety card" in the hotel room saying not to open a door if someone knocks. The hotel even posted a B&W print out alerting hotel guests to the suspicious person in the parking... but there is absolutly no security between the parking garage which was open to the public and the 11th floor that we stayed on. It did not feel like a safe hotel knowing anyone from the street could get to our "front door" at any time. 4) poor quality cable TV (grainy pre-digital channels), basic cable channel selection and no options for on-demand ordering of movies - is very disappointing. Get with the 21st century & actually use the new LG TV for high def. or don't bother upgrading the rooms. 5) who thought its good to put the light switch for bathroom outside the room and no fan to move steamy air - this is a new renovation? The shower head is WAY too low, even for 5ft6" me. Read more

Had a interesting/good stay. Thanks to the clerk cleaning the room for the instruction of how the coffee maker worked. Unfortunately our rental auto was towed from the front street area (on Broadway West-it was our fault that we didn't heed the traffic signs and words shared with us by the front desk to pay for the hotel fee parking; we had to pay the […] tow cost before we returned home. The pool was excellent swimming and when we return we will consider staying with you again for that reason. Thanks for storing our bags while we were at the Stanley Park Aquatic Center. We liked the service at the desk and are somewhat curious about how our stay would have been had there not been renovations going on. The food at the buffet might have been more substantial; I was pretty hungry to start the day at 10:30 AM and usually drink a lot of juice to begin a day. After my husband made the reservation I lingered to read the reviews on Expedia. Yikes, I told him the place was under construction and the pool and exercise room closed and that we would not get breakfast included in our stay. OK -- so we were prepared for those things. The two queen sized bed mattresses were thin, hard and old and the room smelled. Please don't make humans stay there. My husband went straight to the front desk and asked for a change. We moved to the sixth floor, a corner room, that was soooo much better. We were delighted. It was clean, nicely furnished and had a pillow top bed that was great for our travel worn bodies. Hotel staff were nice and the location convenient. Sky train is a few blocks away and plenty of food and cafes nearby. The downsideis that the hotel seems ancient and requires maintenance. This hotel was in a good spot. Right by all the bridges to get into downtown. The neighborhood has food and shopping options in walking distance. It's under renovation and we knew that going in. We didn't get a renovated room like we thought, but the rooms were fine and heading in a great direction. The staff was great. we had a wonderful stay here. We walked to Granville Island. It is about a 45 min. walk through a beautiful park and waterway. The staff was helpful and recommended a great chinese resteraunt . Our room was great.

It's undergoing a renovation. I didn't see or hear anything aside from the padded interior of the elevator. The room we stayed looked like it was renovated but many of the old features remained, such as the old HVAC unit which is very loud, and the old sink/vanity in the bathroom with lots of crack in the sink. The bedding looks new so that's always […] a good sign. TV is super old and the remote didn't work well even after the hotel tech brought us new batteries. The main plus side is the location. It's near London Drugs and Whole Foods. If you forget to bring anything, it's no big deal. There are way too many Asian restaurants in the Vancouver metro area, however, there are a few non-Asian choices near the hotel. Not cheap but great alternative to the usual. It's near public transportation although we drove the whole time. I think the location averages out the downside of the interior of this hotel. Read more

There was a note in the lobby about the elevator dated in April but the note in the parking garage about the elevator was dated in January...I stayed there the beginning of June. This hotel was pleasant enough and it is in a neighborhood close to the city center downtown and surrounded with plenty of good restaurants. However, there was endless construction going on starting at 7 am. There was only 1 elevator working and it took about 10 minutes to get up and down from our floor to the parking garage. Had to call room service […] several times to get in touch with someone to order, which was a tad annoying. On the plus side, the room was a good size and the staff was nice enough, although not exactly super helpful in terms of informing you of attractions or local sites. The room was clean but had no mini refrigerator or microwave oven. They also did not provide free parking even though the building itself has a huge parking garage. On our last day the cleaning staff did not provide us with the usual complimentary soap or shampoo. We had to ask for this at reception.

We chose this hotel for a 2 night stop over before travelling to Vancouver Island. The location was excellent as only a 20 min taxi ride from the airport. Close to plenty of restaurants, bus and train stops also very close. The hotel was undergoing major renovations. Our original room was the only usable room on the floor and smelled heavily of smoke. The hotel did honor our request to another room on another floor but tried their best to talk us out of it. There were 4 of us girls staying for the BMO Marathon on Sunday May 5th we came down May4 and was pleasantly greeted by the front desk. We were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary up grade of our room to a fully renovated room with fridge and balcony and pull out hide a bed. We were offered late check out which gave us all enough time to shower […] after our race then next day, and were stocked with plenty of towels. We had an incredible view of false creek. We were very pleased with the location, service, quietness and cleanliness of this hotel, as well as the good food at the asian restaurant next door. My only issue was the poor coffee maker, it could have been better and I would have preferred real glasses and cups rather than disposable ones.

Very poor reception, we were kept waiting far too long. Only one staff at counter even though there was someone behind in the office. I may not return just because of it. Why is it all these hotel have such poor tv reception, blurred tv's and poor colour, its not the 1950's.
