"lost it's luster"
I have always thought of this hotel as a must stay when in Baltimore, but this time, I was not impressed. I reserved a king room city view, but upon checking in was told they did not have any king rooms and would I like to pay an additional $30 for an upgrade to a king bed harbor view. I said , no I would not like to pay for an upgrade, and since I […] reserved a King room , that is what I would like- she then said fine we can upgrade you at no charge to king harbor view. The room was large, but looks like it has not been updated for some time. the next thing that didn't impress us, was the Discover's lounge, it was something we remembered as being very special, and as we arrived for a cocktail, it was full of tables, when prior it was all nice comfy couches. The lights were really bright and not inviting at all. Bartender was very nice, and turned the lights down, and gave us great service. Explained that the lounge is now a full service restaurant. The main restaurant was next door and looked to be shut down. the next morning was even worse, we went down for a quick breakfast before we got on the road, and its was full, and we had to wait for a table, once we sat it literally took 10 minutes to get someone's attention just to get a cup of coffee. As a restaurant owner, nothing is more irritating then poor service. they obviously had the potential to make money, but were doing such a poor job at breakfast, I now could see that this hotel was not the hotel it used to be. Response by Royal Sonesta Harbor Court Baltimore Karen, thank you for your candid feedback. We recently converted Brighton's into a meeting space, as a hotel with 195 guestrooms simply does not need a restaurant and a large and separate lounge. We've kept the original character of Explorer's intact by setting the sofas on the left side of Explorer's in the windows, providing a spectacular view of the Inner Harbor. We certainly apologize that you received subpar service at breakfast, and we are passing along your experience to our food and beverage management team, as we recognize that providing a quick, delicious breakfast is paramount to setting the right service tone. We do hope that you'll give us another try.

"Good location. Parking was expensive."
The hotel was very nice and clean. The staff was very helpful. Especially the woman that was outside when we first pulled up to the hotel. We loved the little extra touches in the room such as the coffee maker and the shower dispensers. We liked how the housekeeping staff came to clean the room once and slid the note under our door to let us know they […] were there and let them know when we were out of the room so it could be cleaned. We were on our Honeymoon and was happy that we didn't have the housekeeping staff knocking on our door every 15 minutes to try and clean our room. We could take our time and not have to rush to get out of the room. One suggestion....Extra sugar packets. My husband used the one that was provided with one cup of coffee. "Nice Business Trip with Comfortable Hotel"
I liked this hotel, it was close to the convention center and the inner harbor, as well as Federal Hill. The hotel is a little older, but I can tell that they are on top of keeping up with repairs. "Great Inner Harbor accommodations!"
Our recent stay at the Royal Sonesta in Baltimore exceeded our expectations! The hotel is not new, but it is well-maintained. The room was clean, the amenities were nice - robes and slippers, free wi-fi, pool, Kuerig coffee, beautiful harbor view. We were also unexpectedly upgraded to a Junior Suite, so we had tons of room, a lovely bathroom with 6' […] tub, and it felt like an indulgence. The hotel is in an excellent location - easy walking to all of the attractions and restaurants at the Inner Harbor. And, it was just a short drive to JohnsHopkins - where we needed to be for an appointment. I definitely recommend this hotel if you want to be close to the Inner Harbor or the sports stadiums. "Not worth the money"
It was really off-putting the minute that we arrived at the hotel and they told me it would be a $150 charge for my 5lb Chihuahua to stay overnight with us. So I'm not very happy with the Royal Sonesta overall and their outrageous charges ($40/night for parking too). It's a nice hotel, but I think we would have been better off saving $75-$100 by staying […] a few blocks closer to downtown off the water. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Royal Sonesta Harbor Court Baltimore Faith, we're disappointed to read your comments. The pet policy is stated on Expedia, though it's recently changed (as of January 1, 2014 we will no longer allow pets due to our upcoming renovation). The reason we charge a non-refundable $150 pet charge is so that we can remove the room for 24 hours following a guest's departure for deep cleaning, as many guests have allergies to pet hair. Overnight self parking is available for $26 and valet parking is available for $36, plus the city parking tax. Like most hotels, we do not own our parking area, and yet our parking prices are very much in line (and in many cases lower) than other Inner Harbor hotels. Just like in any East Coast city, parking charges in Baltimore are certainly on the high side.

From the broken minibar to the threadbare carpets, this is an old dumpGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Royal Sonesta Harbor Court Baltimore We're sorry to hear you had a poor experience with us, and we'd like to address your two comments. First, we no longer feature minibars in our guestrooms, as we found that guests were increasingly not using them. We left the mini fridge from the minbar in each guestroom so that our guests have a place to store beverages, medicine, leftover food, etc. I suspect that you've stayed previously and aniticipated a minibar and found an empty fridge, but again, that's by design. Regarding carpets, we agree that a full renovation is needed at the property--and that is scheduled to take place this winter. We are completely remaking our guestrooms and all public space, and we look forward to your visiting us again once the project is completed next spring!
"Nice hotel with room to grow"
This is a nice hotel, well furnished, leaning towards the upscale side of places to stay. Their room service is a disaster though - completely unable to keep up with the ambience created by the hotel designers. Crab soup was so salty it was not possible to finish - they did not remove it from the bill when called to their attention - breakfast the next […] morning took three trips, rolls one trip, butter & jelly the next, fruit the last - and still was not able to fully deliver the order. There was no concession offered. What's the point of having a nice room if the staff can't support the atmosphere with good service? Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

I have always liked this hotel. Small but with luxury, good service and great food. Hotel needs renovation at this point. Service still very good (bell staff excellent, front desk as well). Rooms not very clean and worn. Need amenities such as water bottles in room (especially if not going to include a mini bar in each room). Response by Royal Sonesta Harbor Court Baltimore Jeanette, we apologize that your room had a smell of smoke. We actually impose a $250 per night penalty when we realize a guest has smoked in the room. "Inner Harbor Royal Sonesta- Baltimore"
This was a great hotel. Great price for location as well as over the Labor Day weekend. It is within walking distance of many tourist attractions and restaurants. We had trouble getting to the hotel due to the Grand Prix race all around the hotel (pretty amazing to see). All the roads were rerouted and/or blocked off which was pretty frustrating. "Stay away on LAbor Day weekend"
Only stayed 1 night on Labor Day weekend. Getting to the hotel using the detour directions from the hotel took 3 phone calls as I was lost in Baltimore. Did not sleep well […] due to that. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Royal Sonesta Harbor Court Baltimore Thank you for sharing your feedback. Road closures and traffic patterns were different for the race in 2013 than they have been the past two years, and clearly that caused confusion and difficulty for many guests. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. Regarding the noisy guests nearby, our 24-hour Security is always ready to assist by contacting and warning the offending party, so don't be shy to let us know when something like that happens.
"Exceeded Our Expectations"
At first we were a little scared because the Gran Prix race had closed a bunch of streets in the area. The hotel had shown a message telling me what route to take to easily maneuver our way to them. When we first got there the very courteous man at the counter asked if we were here for the Gran Prix race. We then responded that it was our anniversary. […] The pleasant man then upgraded us to a Junior Suite and apologized for the race slowing our trip. We have a great stay. The views of the Inner Harbor were awesome thru two triple glass bay windows. The bathroom was as big as a normal hotel room, all marble with a huge Jacuzzi tub and walk-in glass door shower. "Great Hotel and very nice staff"
The hotel is in an excellent part of the city. The facilities are very well kept and the gym is one of the most "complete" ones I have ever seen in an hotel. If anything could be improved is the possibility to get special rates for parking as this is separate from the room rates and it is quite high ($26/day).Genuine Expedia guest review
Response by Royal Sonesta Harbor Court Baltimore Thank you for a great review! Regarding parking, very few hotels in the city own and/or operate the parking garages that are attached to the hotels. We worked out a fair deal with our vendor--nearly all downtown hotels charge $24 or higher for parking, and the $26 rate we have negotiated is quite competitive for self parking in the garage. Unfortunately, parking charges are associated with every major East Coast city.
"Loved this Hotel."

"Super hotel right across fom the harbor."
We only stayed one night but the room was impressive and the staff was outstanding!Genuine Expedia guest review
Response by Royal Sonesta Harbor Court Baltimore Our ideal location and our amazing staff are the two attributes most-complimented by guests. As far as the room, did you know that our 420-square foot guestrooms are the largest in the Inner Harbor?
We were quite impressed with our stay at the Royal Sonesta. The staff was extremely helpful, courteous and friendly. The room was beautiful and at a perfect location, which made it ideal for walking all around Inner Harbor with a 5 year old. We upgraded to a Harborview room and it was well worth the extra money. Valet parking was $36.00/day, but after […] reading other reviews, decided to park in a parking garage around the corner for $18.00/day. We will definitely be staying at the Royal Sonesta for every return trip to Inner Harbor! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Royal Sonesta Harbor Court Baltimore What a great detailed review of your stay--thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with others! So many guests rave about our location and our amazing staff. And it looks like you found an insider's secret to saving money on parking (almost all the parking downtown is owned by third-party entities rather than hotels and local businesses, so anytime you find parking for less, it's a great thing!)
We had a great time at the hotel. One think I wold like to say: for a 4 star hotel, I would expect real creamer in the room for coffee, not powdered.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Royal Sonesta Harbor Court Baltimore We're glad you had a great time! Regarding the coffee, we absolutely provide real creamer upon request. We are proud to feature Keurig coffee and tea machines in our guestrooms, the same quality product that so many guests enjoy at home. If you have a favorite flavor K-cup you can even bring it with you!
"Stay was ok"
Was a quick one night stay for a convention, The style and room were just ok. The room was not equal to what i expected for the cost of the room. I travel many times a year, and will probably not use this hotel next year. For the cost of the room, parking should of at least been included.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Royal Sonesta Harbor Court Baltimore Lee, we apologize that your experience did not meet your expectations. Parking in Baltimore is not controlled by individual hotels in almost all cases, but rather by third-party garage and parking lot owners, so unfortunately parking is an expense that we must pass along to our guests. Regarding the condition of the room, in late January we begin an extension renovation that includes all-new guestrooms, featuring new carpeting, wallpaper, drapes, curtains, bedding, and all furniture. We'd love to have you back next summer to experience our soon-to-be brand-new property!
After a 7-hour drive, this was just what we needed for the evening. The hotel is located downtown just a short walk from Camden Yards, but when you're in the hotel you'd never know you were in downtown Baltimore. Excellent rooms, very helpful staff... I'd definitely recommend this hotel, and would gladly stay there again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Royal Sonesta Harbor Court Baltimore Wow, what a terrific review! We describe our entrance as an oasis, as you pull off of busy Light Street into our interior courtyard entrance and feel as if you've been transformed to a country manor home. Once you've reached the guestroom floors, none of the rooms are across the hall from one another (thanks to the design of the hotel courtyard), leading to serenity and a quiet building. Thank you for the warm comments about our locaiton and staff as well!
Awesome. I was pleased with everything. Amenities were great. Loved the bathrobesGenuine Expedia guest review
