"Paid for the view, room not up to par"
We had two double beds which were not really double beds, one chair at the desk, no other place to sit besides the bed. But beautiful view and close to science museum which is what made me book it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Royal Sonesta Harbor Court Baltimore Thank you for staying with us, and thank you for your feedback. Our room types consist of one queen bed, one king bed, or two double beds. However, we will be undergoing a multimillion renovation beginning in early December, and by next spring our guestrooms will feature one king bed and a sleeper sofa, or two queen beds! Thank you for the great comments about our ideal location along the Inner Harbor and the gorgeous views that are a result of our location. We hope to have you back next spring or summer to experience our brand-new guestrooms and hotel!
"Ease and comfort"
My husband, daughter, and I were in Baltimore to visit Johns Hopkins University as a possible college choice for our daughter. Location was perfect to introduce our daughter to the Inner Harbor and enjoy its amenities. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful and room was clean with nice amenities. Loved the way the mirror in the bath had its own light […] built in. Would stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"We will be back for another stay next time around!"
My wife and I decided to pick the Royal Sonesta Harbor Court Baltimore because of it's location. I was going to attend the Firehouse Fire Expo at the convention center and she was going to do some walking around at harbor place in the meantime. Anyway, we did find a few other hotels less expensive but not as close to the harbor. So we tried the Royal […] Sonesta. We were both pleasantly surprised as how very friendly the entire staff was and how nice the Hotel is. Our room was spacious to say the least, the bathroom was nice, clean and appointed well. The bed was really comfortable which was especially good because my wife has a very bad back, (she had a severe back spasm about two weeks prior while we were on vacation). Our room was facing the court yard which was a nice pleasant view away from the street noises and sirens. We really did enjoy our stay at Royal Sonesta and will return! The little coffee shop in the front was a neat little perk too and the girl behind the counter was very nice! I would like to make one simple request, put another movable chair in the room for the other person to use while sitting at the desk searching the Internet for things to do and places to eat. Dragging the stuffed chair across the floor to the desk was a bit comber sum ... oh and maybe adding a small table for the room would be a nice touch! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Royal Sonesta Harbor Court Baltimore Lyle and Christine, thank you for the amazing detail in your review! We are so grateful that you took the time to not only rate the Royal Sonesta Harbor Court, but that you much so much thought and consideration into your comments. Beginning early this December, the hotel will undergo a multimillion dollar renovation that we anticipate will be completed by mid-March. This project will include the re-design of our lobby and public spaces, as well as brand new guestrooms that take into account several of the items you've suggested via your review. We hope that you'll return next year for the Firehouse Expo and stay with us again, this time in our brand-new property!

"Had a great time!"
The room was spotless, a #1 priority for me! The staff was very friendly and very helpful! The Royal Sonesta has a charm about it that you don't find in cookie cutter hotels. It is very close to everything in the harbor area. I recommend that you park and leave the car at the parking lot suggested by the hotel. You can get to everything in the harbor […] area by walking or taking a water taxi. We would definately stay at the Royal Sonesta if we visit Baltimore again! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great Inner Harbor Location"
Very nice hotel on the inner harbor. Common areas a bit dated and in need of an upgrade, but the room was clean and bedding was excellent. Coffee machine and safe in the room was also a plus. Thee pool, yoga room and fitness center were nice. Needs more than one bike however in the fitness center. Adjacent parking garage was convenient too!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Royal Sonesta Harbor Court Baltimore Thank you for a wonderful and thorough review! We are especially pleased with your comment about the coffee machine, as not many properties offer a Keurig with K-cups in guestrooms! I highlight that because future guests reading my comments will now know to bring their favorite k-cups for a personalized, home-like start to their day. The property will undergo a full renovation beginning at the end of 2015. We will completely update our lobby and public spaces (including meeting rooms) as well as all of our guestrooms. Stay tuned for details!
"Baltimore Inner Harbor"
Spent Saturday night and enjoyed some good seafood at local restaurants. Also had good seafoodon the trip to the airport the next dayGenuine Expedia guest review
Response by Royal Sonesta Harbor Court Baltimore Robert, we are glad you enjoyed a great culinary experience while visiting Charm City! The area is known not just for steamed crabs and delicious crabcakes, but also for other varieties of Chesapeake-inspired cuisine, including the East Coast's best rockfish dishes. Our own Explorer's serves the city's best crabcakes. If you didn't get a chance to try Chef Rosado's amazing recipe, make it a point to order crabcakes at Explorer's during your next visit!

Response by Royal Sonesta Harbor Court Baltimore Thank you for the great review! I'm guessing based on your location and the timing of your review, you were visiting Charm City to see the Yankees take on the Orioles. We are glad that our amazing team took great care of you, and we thank you for the great comments about your guestroom experience and that you appreciated our close proximity to Oriole Park at Camden Yards, which is about 4 blocks from our hotel. Stayed for 4th July fireworks. Had to be best view in Baltimore. Restaurant good value for dinner, but under-staffed. I'd read reviews saying hotel had seen better days, but it was fine and Inner Harbor is right at the door.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Royal Sonesta Harbor Court Baltimore We're glad we helped in your Independence Day celebration! Thank you for feedback about Explorer's staffing....I suspect you dined with us on July 4, one of the busiest nights of the year because of the incredible views you mentioned. Thank you for the comments about the condition of the hotel.....next summer when you return you will be treated to an entirely new hotel experience! Stay tuned for details!

"Nice hotel near inner harbour"
Our stay was brief, but very nice. Hotel was convenient to everything we wanted to do. Staff was very helpful. Very friendly and professional. Our only issues were the small beds and some of the electric outlets in our room were not working. These beds were the smallest I have ever seen in a double room. The rest of the hotel was very nice. "Hotel in the Harbor"
Last year, I paid a fortune to stay at a hotel in the Harbor and was highly disappointed, so needless to say, I was a bit wary when making a reservation with another downtown hotel. The Rotal Sonesta not only exceeded my expectations, it was by far one of the loveliest hotels I have ever stayed in, and I travel a lot. From the moment I pulled into the […] valet til checkout, the staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. The hotel itself was immaculate and elegant, and the rooms were spacious and clean. I highly recommend the Royal Sonesta. It is five star luxury at a three star price. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Royal Sonesta Harbor Court Baltimore Theresa, your comments made our day! We printed your review to share with our staff during our daily lineup meetings so that our entire team could share in your wonderful praise! And as your review makes clear, it all starts with a wonderful staff. We aim to hire the right people so that we only have to worry about training for job-related skills rather than hospitality skills. great place for tourist activities and morning walks or jogsGenuine Expedia guest review
Response by Royal Sonesta Harbor Court Baltimore Thank you for sharing your experience with the world! Our Inner Harbor location places us within easy walking distance of attractions like the Maryland Science Center, National Aquarium, Oriole Park at Camden Yards, Harborplace and The Gallery, M&T Bank Stadium, and so much more! Joggers and runners have two great options: a morning run around the scenic Inner Harbor is always a great way to start the day; and for runners seeking a bit of a longer run will appreciate the history and beauty of a round-trip run to Fort McHenry, birthplace of The Star-Spangled Banner.
The hotel is in a great location at the Inner Harbor. The staff was not only friendly but also accomadating on every level from the valet, to front desk, to maid service. My only one suggestion would be a facelift on the womens lockeroom.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Royal Sonesta Harbor Court Baltimore Nicole, we are thrilled you enjoyed your stay in Charm City, and we thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. We really appreciate that you highlighted our terrific team--they make all the difference, and our team is one key point that differentiates our hotel from all the other Inner Harbor hotels. Thank you for pointing out that the women's locker room needs some love; late this fall, we will start an extensive renovation to the property--when you return next year we will have a brand-new look to the entire property!
"Happy Family get away"
My family wanted to go to Orioles game and thought we'd spend the night downtown. We ended up relaxing the night instead of rushing home. We have stayed here before and we just love it. The entire staff from valet parking to room service, even the lifeguard at the pool are sincere, polite and very helpful. My kids felt like royalty and are begging to […] return. The pool facilities are wonderful and the outside area is not only beautiful but relaxing. We are coming back just to hang out at the hotel next time. Worth every penny. Thank you! "Perfect place to stay in the Inner Harbor"
The view from our Inner harbor room was awesome. And it was the perfect location to put your car in the garage for the weekend and walk and water taxi the rest of the time.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Royal Sonesta Harbor Court Baltimore Helen, thank you for taking the time to share your experience--and thank you for the 5-star review! Our locaiton is right on the Inner Harbor as you mentioned, meaning that we are within easy walking distance both from the Inner Harbor attractions (National Aquarium, Harborplace, Maryland Science Center, and of course the water taxi to connect to neighborhoods such as Fell's Point and Canton) and the Camden Yards sports complex. What a great spring/summer idea--leave the car and for the neighborhoods that are far, take the water taxi! It sounds like a fun time was had by all! We hope you'll return soon to see even more of Charm City!
Easily the nicest hotel I have ever been to - from the decor to the treatment by the staff to the location (essentially right on the water of the Inner Harbor). We had an amazing time on our stay and would highly recommend this hotel to everyone else. P.S. get an harbor view roomGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Royal Sonesta Harbor Court Baltimore Wow, you just made our day....the "nicest hotel" you've ever stayed in! THank you for mentioning how great our staff is. "Adequate Hotel, but not for the Price"
For a hotel that used to be the Intercontinental, it's gone downhill. The lobby areas are quite outdated. The rooms are above average, but the - the room rates are above average. Compared to other hotels in the area - it all depends on what you value in a hotel. The restaurant (for breakfast) is terrible. Food service is way too slow. I'm the only one […] sitting there, and it takes almost an hour to get my food. When I complain, they tell me that room service guest get priority. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Royal Sonesta Harbor Court Baltimore Thank you for your feedback. We certainly apologize that we did not live up to our normal standards of excellence. I am pleased to announce that the hotel is scheduled for a complete renovation beginning at the end of 2014, and we expect to wrap up in very early spring 2015. The entire property, from guestrooms to meeting space to the lobby will be transformed. We hope you'll be back to see and experience our new look!
Our room was freezing. The AC could not maintain a 71 degree room and was blasting cold air. It was 66 degrees all night and that's a little too cold for our taste.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Royal Sonesta Harbor Court Baltimore Thank you for the feedback. We certainly apologize that your room was too cold for your liking. We understand that it is not convenient at all to call for service in the middle of the night, so we were unable to make the proper adjustments during your stay I'm sure. Hopefully you reported the issue at checkout so that the next guest was spared from the same level of cold air. We hope that you otherwise enjoyed your stay in Charm City and that you'll stay with us again!
"Beds are horrible."
Very old hotel with bad beds. House keeping did not give cofee and sugar in room.Genuine Expedia guest review
Response by Royal Sonesta Harbor Court Baltimore Nilesh, we apologize that you were not comfortable in your guestroom! We hope you'll return and give us another chance to make a better impression.

Response by Royal Sonesta Harbor Court Baltimore Thank you for taking the time to review the hotel and for highlighting our ideal Inner Harbor location! "Classy hotel close to the harbor"
This hotel was clean, staff was friendly, and recognized me as a VIP Elite member - which gave us an automatic upgrade to a harbor view room (very nice)! The rooms were up-to-date and decent sized. Front desk staff is attentive. Room service is too slow. No HBO or other premium cable Free Internet service. Breakfast is disappointing, e.g., soggy toast, undrinkable coffee. Illy cafe on site has better coffee. In general, maintenance needs to be improved.Genuine Expedia guest review

We hope you'll choose to return after our renovation is completed!
The hotel is very nice, but is very 1980s traditional nice. The restaurant bar and dining room leave a lot to be desired. The are old, dark and out of the way (on the 2nd floor). "Great location, but that's it"
We chose the Royal Sonesta because of its excellent location and because its expensive rates implied better comfort and quality than its nearby competitors. In the latter regard, we were very disappointed. The room was simply not up to the standard of a hotel in that price range: sparsely furnished with damaged furniture, stained carpeting, and cheap […] bathroom fixtures. The lobby and corridors were freezing cold. We will give the competitors a try on our next visit. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Hanging out at the Harbor"
Location was great. Directly across from the Harbor, so the evening view was awesome, because we purchased a harbor view room. Parking is not validated, which striuct me as a bit odd, considering the room prices! $26.00 overnight or 8.00 an hour. $36.00 overnight if you choose valet parking? The carpet in my room had big dark spots in it and there are […] no balconies which would have made the view spectacular. I would probably select a different place the next time that is directly on the harbor, as this one was across a very busy street. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Please be aware that we are planning a complete property renovation beginning late this autumn that will result in completely new guestrooms. We hope you'll choose to return next year to experience a brand-new property! Regarding the other two issues you've mentioned: parking is charged at all Inner Harbor hotels (we don;t own our parking garage), and none of the hotels at the Inner Harbor have balconies.

"My only complaint"
When checking in, despite informing them a week prior to my arrival that I would need a late check in, they did not have a room with a king bed as reserved. When asked why, I was informed that was the problem when booking my room with a third party like Expedia. They gave me a nice room with two and changed my room to the proper one the next day. Everything […] else was very nice. Just did not like the desk clerk blaming their mistake on Expedia, especially when I called the hotel and confirmed my reservation and late check in. I just chalk it up to an inexperienced desk clerk rather then the hotel policy. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Response by Royal Sonesta Harbor Court Baltimore We really appreciate that we earned a five-star review despite the unfortunate experience at check-in, for which we certainly apologize. Your instincts are absolutely correct: our failure to deliver the king bedded guestroom you reserved has nothing whatsoever to do with your choice to book through Expedia, and for a staff member to suggest that is certainly disappointing. We thank you for bringing this to our attention--we will immediately share your review at our daily pre-shift meetings throughout the next few days to help reinforce our standards. We hope hat because of your overall experience with us, you'll come visit us again soon.

"would NOT rate it at 4 stars"
this may have once been a 4 star hotel but no longer. the only person who provided service in the hotel was the concierge who was polite and kind. The desk people were rude and abrupt. The door people were lazy, my son was on crutches and they literally watched him push the circular door all the way around with his crutch. we had ordered a rollaway […] bed but were not informed until arrival that it would cost an extra 30$ for one. The hotel was entirely unsympathetic that there were 3 of us (6 foot teen boy ) and would either have to share two doubles or pay the extra for the cot. They also have a confusing parking fee and would do well to put it on paper. I heard them repeating it over and over at the desk and saw the puzzled looks on people's faces. ridiculous that they haven't figured out a visual for that. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Lodging was adequate... close to the inner harbor. The kids enjoyed the pool and the basketball court. Only true negative: NO HBO! I could not watch Game of Thrones!!!!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Royal Sonesta Harbor Court Baltimore Jonathan, thank you for taking the time to review the Royal Sonesta. Our pool is larger than a typical hotel pool and features a dedicated lap lane. Meanwhile, our sport court offers tennis, volleyball, and basketball, all on our rooftop with incredible views of the downtown skyline. Regarding HO, several guests recently have requested HBO, so there is a chance you may see that popular premium channel on our airwaves soon.
"For a love of adventure, like a Wes Anderson film"
From the first hello on the phone when I called, I was impressed by the personal attention and swept away by feeling I had discovered something timeless and unique. Greeted warmly by the bellman and receptionist, my eyes went to a wooden leopard on top of a huge gong outside the Explorer's Club. This hotel bar has life-size elephants and monkeys painted […] perfectly around its walls and local microbrews on tap. Our kids enjoyed juice in a glass goblet. The rooms are cavernous, at least 10' high ceilings, with plenty of room to walk, unpack, play. (The beds were doubles, but still, very comfortable and clean -- reminding me again of travel in a better generation.) The pool is huge by modern hotel standards, with noodles for kids. There's an outdoor tennis court, an indoor squash court (again, for those days when people played squash). Artwork throughout the hotel is classic 19th Century, elevating everyone's experience in addition to having all the modern amenities you look for. Response by Royal Sonesta Harbor Court Baltimore Chuck, thank you for such a well-thought and detailed review! Since our debut as the Harbor Court Hotel in 1986, we have been known first and foremost our having the absolute highest service levels in Charm City. Our guestrooms average 420 square feet, the size of a small suite in most hotels. And our indoor pool is a real treat, with its 5 foot depth, salt water, and dedicated lap lane. We can't wait to host you for another timeless adventure in Baltimore!

Response by Royal Sonesta Harbor Court Baltimore Bob and Mary Beth, we really appreciate not only the terrific rating, but especially the warm comments about our amazing staff. We look forward to your next visit to our Inner Harbor location!
The hotel is very conveniently located near the Inner Harbor. We really enjoyed swimming in salt water pool. The breakfast was delicious and priced right for the portion size. The only negative of our experience was the uncomfortable beds for the stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Old and musty"
Not good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Royal Sonesta Harbor Court Baltimore Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We apologize that our hotel did not live up to expectations. While our property has a classic look and feel that does not suit everyone's taste, we do take painstaking pride in the efforts of our housekeeping and maintenance team to keep the hotel in good working order, and we are disappointed to read that you were not pleased with your accommodations. We invite you to stay tuned to this page for updates on a full renovation that will kick off later this year, and once the hotel is re-imagined, we hope you'll come back and give our hotel another try.
