"Worst customer experience ever!"
We booked three months in advance and when we arrived, our room wasn't ready. When it was finally ready two hours later, it was the wrong accommodations. We specified two queen beds for three people and received a room with one king size bed and a small pullout sofa. Their answer to this was to give us our money back and send us on our way when knowing […] full well that this was a busy memorial weekend and all hotels were fully booked. The shower barely worked and the tub did not drain so we had to take a shower in knee deep dirty water. When we informed housekeeping, they sent a girl down with a toilet plunger for us to plunge it ourselves. The pullout sofa had soiled sheets and no extra blankets or pillows. We called for a blanket and pillows but they did not bring them until after 10 pm when we were already sleeping. When we checked out, the hostess reprimanded US for being difficult customers! What a nightmare! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Staff were not friendly, one girl talked on her cell phone for 5 min before attending to me and the front desk phone rang several times and went unanswered. Rooms were supposed to be smok free, but we could smell smoke coming through the vents from the adjacent room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We liked the swimming pool and hot tubGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"It was ok"
well first off when I called in prior to cancel my reservation the front desk clerks didn't know the cancellation policy so we'll end up staying there anyway. The hotel was older, but it was nice inside the room isactually the best part of the hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
This hotel is comfortable. We found out we could have gotten a better rate if we booked our room in person!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The clerk should have paid more attention to not place workers next the leisures travellers.Carpet needs to go. Furniture was patched up with tape. Needs upgrades.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A good hotel"
Good room and friendly staff. Even though it's located out of downtown, it's surrounded by 2 supermarkets and several good restaurants.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"It met our needs"
It was an average inn with great staff. The amenities (fridge, microwave, and indoor pool) was a great help to us. Also, being pet friendly was a plus.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great value for what you pay!!!"
Nice pool and jacuzzi, and a shuttle to the ski slopes.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Will never stay there again"
It was cheap, but you definitely get what you pay for. We had been skiing all day and were looking forward to the hot tub, which after seeing the surroundings and how run down the hotel was, we were scared to even try. The parking lot was trashy. As far as I could tell the room was clean but I still slept in long sleeves, pants, and socks just in case. […] We did not feel safe and did not enjoy our time here at all. The phone in our room had no dial tone, and when I reported to the front desk person Saturday morning she could not have cared less. She actually watched me look for someone to help me for over ten minutes while she and her friend were having coffee in the eating area.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient location for shopping and skiing"
Ski shuttle picks up at the front door. Good value for price paid. Overnight management was unresponsive to complaints about a dog in the next room barking from 10:00 PM until 2:00 AMGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice, clean hotel for the price."
The staff was very friendly. Breakfast was a basic continental breakfast (cereal, bread, waffles, oj) My one complaint would be the lackluster coffee, but I am a bit of a coffee snob. There is plenty of good coffee to be found in Taos. The room was clean. Our favorite aspect of the motel was the spa pool. It was nice and hot and great to relax in after […] a long day of skiing. "Decent Rooms, Friendly Staff, Smoky Room"
During our recent stay at the Whitten Inn, I appreciated the friendly staff. The room was decent and seemed to be clean, with the exception of the horrible smoky smell. At first, I thought someone who stayed in the room previously must have smoked in the room. So, we got an air freshener from the front desk. However, as we slept that night, it smelled […] as if someone was sitting in the room smoking all night long. It was a very strong smoky smell. I believe smoke was entering the room from the vent in the bathroom. They desperately need to fix their ventilation system! We enjoyed the hot tub. The kids liked the indoor pool, but it was too cold for me to get in. The breakfast was a standard continental breakfast of waffles, cereal, pastries, and such. I would most likely stay there again, if they could fix the ventilation system or whatever is allowing smoke to enter non-smoking rooms. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Not the best but it did the job"
Breakfast was decent room was pretty outdated. There was a highway crew that had a large portion of the hotel wing booked and they were very noisy. Not the best experience but not the worst ever. Bed was pretty uncomfortable as well.Genuine Expedia guest review
"HOTEL IN TAOS"
We picked this hotel because it had an indoor pool and hot tub. We got to Taos early so that the children could use the indoor pool. When we tried to use the pool and hot tub at 6 in the evening, the pool was too cold being only 70 degrees. The hot tub had just been cleaned and had chemicals added so it wouldn't be ready until 8 pm. Since we were planning […] to ski the next morning we didn't want to wait until after 8 to use pool and hot tub. We were very disappointed that the only reason we picked that hotel was not usable during our stay. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Leave your dogs at home"
Comfortable room….except for the yapping dogs a few rooms away that yapped from 9:00 PM until 1:00 AM. Complained to management but was told they couldn't do anything about it. Felt I should get half my money refunded as I was only able to sleep 1/2 the night. While the wifi is free, be prepared to wait on the dial up speed of the internet. Very poor […] service. "Another night on the road"
The staff was very friendly! Our room had the added bonus of a fireplace, which was very attractive & easy to operate! The room was quite nice, but it was very noisy quite late into nite from all the construction workers staying there. The location was very central to the part of Taos we were interested in seeing.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Chillin' like a kitten at the Whitten Inn"
Great price for what you get. Nice hot tub and pool, continental breakfast, and about 35 minutes from the ski area. I've been staying here every ski season and will continue to do so.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"No internet service in room"
The room was nicely decorated and we were happy with the room, but we never had any internet service except in the lobby. The hotel staff said they would inform the manager, but nothing was ever done to fix the problem during the 3 days/nights we were at the hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
I enjoyed the hotel and had no issues.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I really liked the Whitten inn. Everything was great except for the beds. They were pretty uncomfortable. The indoor heated pool and hot tub were awesome! only about 35 minuets from Angel Fire.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Walls are thin. People running passed the rooms all night yelling and drinking.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very friendly and a fair deal!"
Check in was such a pleasure because of the cheerful young lady who made the effort to really make us feel welcome! We ran into a few other employees here and there that all were that way. Kudos to all of them and the management behind it. The pool and large hot tub/sauna were great. The room was just fine for the cost. The location is excellent. I […] have nothing but good things to say about the place. There is a movie theater just a few blocks to the south that was showing a movie we liked. The simple breakfast was fine. The only good thing about this hotel was the free breakfast. The sheets were dirty and had stains on them, there was hair throughout the room that did not belong to anyone I was staying with. The door to the room did not fully shut so you could feel a cold draft from outside. The door actually looked like someone had used a crowbar to pry it opened. […] Would not stay here again or recommend it to anyone. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Room seemed clean, but we found lots of hairs in the sheets. A left over wash cloth in the bathroom. Only enough towls for one day, and no maid service one day. Hot tube was closed one day after skiing, had to sign for towls to use the hot tube. Matress was springy....Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice service, pet friendly"
The staff were very friendly, the location good. The motel itself is older- the rooms open to the outside, the bedspreads and carpet are older. It is a great place for a night or two, but I wouldn't recommend for an extended vacation stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
For a busy season in Taos, we felt lucky to get a room here. It's on the noisy side, breakfast area crowded and hard to get a seat, but guests are good-humored and everybody eager to get out, so that's tolerable. What put us over the edge was the bathroom--when I turned on the shower, the faucet, already pulled out of the wall, sent shoots of water […] in both directions and the pipe connecting to the toilet tank started leaking. The tub plug was half-way down, meaning water accumulated inches deep for the shower but wouldn't hold for a bath. To be sure, a friendly volunteer sent by the desk managed to solve the problem. The faucet is still loose, though, so it might not be a real fix. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Whitten Inn - Rude staff"
Very rude staff. Check in was 3pm but we didn't get in the room until 4:30pm. Staff could care less. This is a cheap motel in Taos. Not worth the money we spent for the night. Find a different place to stay!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Needs a supervisor"
We had reservations and the check in still took over 30 minutes. I reserved 2 rooms at the same time and used the same credit card to pay for both; when we got there the rooms were several doors away because "they didn't' know we were together"…really! The sink was so stained it was impossible to see if it was dirty or chipped. The carpet was dirty […] and there was a loud "crack head" that stayed next door and ran up and down the walk way all hours of the night. We contacted the front desk and they did nothing. Needless to say the stay was not favorable and I would NOT stay there again unless it was literally my only option. Most definitely not worth the money!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Ok for a quick stay"
The hotel reception, location and breakfast was good. However the water in the sink and shower was clogged. Had a hard time taking shower. I wish that was corrected, otherwise the hotel was good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"friendly service. okay hotel."
The staff was really friendly and helpful, but the rooms were okay. We had to switch rooms due to the condition. The second room was okay didn't seem all that clean the hotel seems up dated but it definitely needs more work, the shower drain was clogged. Would I stay there again?..... I would look some where else first.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The room was somewhat small and the facility is older, but it was clean. The location is convenient.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Missed the Mark"
The hotel was centrally located in Taos and check-in went well. Upon arriving at the room it was apparent that the furnishings were not updated and the maintenance was sloppy. The bathroom shower was locked in a fixed position and the ceiling was drop-down office tiles. The caulking in the bathroom appeared to be smeared in most places and the painted […] walls were poorly completed. The king mattress was unbearable and was worn out which led to a very poor sleeping night. I would rate this hotel below that of a Motel 6. Not recommended at all. "Whitten taos stay"
The stay was great but the coffee maker in the room had to be cleaned before I could use it as it had old coffee ground bags dried up in it as well as the pot was filthy. The tile flooring needed to be swept also.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Our stay way very nice. the only problem was, the swimming pool. It was not in use, because the water was very cold..We chose the hotel because of the indoor pool.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We were fully satisfied with the services. Would stay again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The liquid soap dispenser with one soap for all purposes was a surprise and very disappointing. Not a high-end hotel, for sure, but even the least expensive provide small bottles of shampoo, rinse and bars of soap.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I enjoyed my stay - breakfast was excellent. Room service was not great. The microwave was not cleaned on Saturday after we had used it on Friday night. Also the wash basin should have been replaced. The girls on reception were most helpful. I would stay there again for the convenience but would suggest updating the rooms and paying more attention to […] the maintenance. I am gifted at seeing the details which most people overlook. When I next stay there, I would like a free room and I shall give you a detailed review of the hotel and where it needs to improve the maintenance and cleanliness etc! "You Get What You Pay For"
Whitten Inn is truly a "motel" near downtown Taos. Our room was neat, clean but outdated. The rugs could use a cleaning, bathrooms could use vents and repairs, the heater was noisy and very drying. The outside was a bit drab and the pretty planters scattered about all had dead flowers. I should have done more research which would have told me that pets […] were welcome at the Whitten Inn. We heard dogs barking on occasion and it made the rooms seem a little less clean. That being said, it is what it is. We felt safe and comfortable. We were visiting family so we really only slept and showered there. Breakfasts were convenient and enough to get our day going. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. "Wouldn't be my first choice when I come back."
After a long drive and fun day on the square we decided to stay the night in Taos. This hotel had an ok rating on Expedia and we decided to give it a try for the price. The first room we were given had not been cleaned and beer and soda cans were laying around, we were told the people hadn't checked out. Then don't rebook the room! The next room we […] were given the key wouldn't open the door and after two trips back to the desk to get new keys we finally got in. The stench was horrible, a very musty sprayed kind of smell like cigarette smoke was trying to be covered up. The carpet was tearing away from the walls in places too. I refused to stay in it. The next room they gave us was an upgrade king with hot tub in room. Very fresh clean smelling room and we were not charged for the upgrade. Relaxed the travel away in the hot tub but spent a restless night on the too soft bed. Staff was great though, especially Melissa. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
