"Service was lacking"
The hotel is in the back of a business complex and signage is not readily apparent. The daytime staff was excellent, including valet, front desk and room service. Polite, fast, friendly and courteous. The night staff was another story. Valet could not be found. The front desk clerk was extremely rude. Additionally, the housekeeper knocked on every door […] near our room, including ours, at 7:50am. We had specifically asked for a room away from the construction/renovation jack-hammering work so we could sleep in, but the housekeeping staff gave us a wake-up knock anyway. Overal stay was nice; breakfast is delicious!!! And the location is close/far enough to everything. The hotel itself was in decent shape. The room was in poor shape. The carpet was buckling from the floor and the wallpaper was not intact. The room was small with no extras. For the price there should have been a fridge or microwave. There was nothing. The breakfast buffet was average to say the least. The photos on the website are after renovations […] are finished, which has not happened yet. The hotel displays those same photos in their lobby as what's to come. Location of hotel is great. The lobby an public areas are nice. My room was very small, but met my needs. A renovation is scheduled, and I think my room could use an update. Everything was very clean, just a bit dated. The carpet is very dark, which makes we wonder about how clean it is. The laminate on the desk and nighstaands was bubbled up everywhere. "Disappointing for the price"
Close to the Perimeter area and that is about it. I purchased a package that was to include free breakfast and free internet. When we checked we were given NO information about each. Each time we went to the front desk it took at least 15 minutes to get answers or information and even then we never received our free breakfast coupons. "Outward appearance was great."
Only upon closer look did I see that the building and furnishing we're very old. My room's door took a smash with my should to open. The desk seems to have been left in the rain at one time. But the bathroom had an old water smell, the air conditioning never really cooled the room down (despite being set on 65), the heavy drapes did not close past about 2-3 feet (so the morning sunlight was strong and annoying). "Good hotel for the value and cost"
During the course of my stay at this hotel, I honestly had a very pleasing time at this Westin branded hotel. Amongst the many requests that I had, including room upgrades, the staff and customer service to correspond was excellent. The overall appearance of the hotel from an outside viewpoint was very appealing; as for the interior I could same the […] same definitely for the reception level as well as for the floor dedicated to the business halls. However, the carpeting on the floors above the two main floors, were showing signs of extreme old age and wear and tear. (Just as a reminder, the hotel will be undergoing major renovations in the coming month of August. They do have show rooms for viewing of the newly renovated looking rooms.) Everything from the Touch Express Service (i.e. room service), reservation line, and front desk operator servicing was phenomenal. Since I did request a room change I was able to tell the difference from the room types, like the Deluxe King and Traditional King are very similar in size and amenities, but when you upgrade to something like the Junior Suite not only do you receive more amenities like toiletries but also you get much more space and a gorgeous three-pane window that has pretty good views. It was my mother's first time in Atlanta and we stayed at the Westin Perimeter. We were accommodated with an early check in with a great view. Unfortunately, there was a horrible mildew smell around the bathroom area. We contacted guest services, who tied to fix it but it was no use. "Not a great hotel, but well worth the money"
Every staff member we encountered was friendly and helpful. The hotel was continually busy with meetings and weddings, but in no way did this create a noisy or chaotic environment once we were out of the lobby. The room was strangely arranged with the good sized flat screen television place at an odd angle making watching from the bed uncomfortable. The bathroom tile had several large stains. I cannot complain because it was more than adequate for a place to sleep and shower, but it is far from the quality I expect from a Westin Hotel. The hotel sits well back from main roads and it would be a hike to use public transportation. Parking was free and since we drove, it was easy for us to get to different sites. If you haven't been warned about traffic in Atlanta, you should be aware that it is the worst!! So in a way, sitting well back from that mess was really an advantage.
