"Old furniture and room very dusty!"
The room furniture was very old and the entire room was very dusty! I stayed at the Westin Hotel located at 7 Concourse Pkwy NE in Atlanta Ga. from 6/14/2013 through 6/17/2013. On the afternoon of 6/16/2013 I returned to my room and noticed my room had not been cleaned. I went to the housekeeper who was cleaning the room next door to ours and ask her […] if she would please clean my room and change the linen and clean towels. She ask me to contact front desk. I immediately called front desk and let them know I wanted fresh clean sheets on my bed because my wife had makeup stains on the bed from the night before. Front desk said my room would be next to be cleaned. My spouse and I left the room for 1 hr. allowing housekeeping time to clean the room. I also placed the "going green" card on the bed which indicates fresh linen is requested. When I returned to the room I had fresh towels, the bed was made but the bed had the same dirty sheets on the bed. I immediately called front desk to let them know that although my bed was made, she sheets had not been changed. I spoke with hotel management who assured me that the sheets had been changed. I let him know that the makeup stains were still on the sheets therefore they could not have been changed. Hotel management did not seem too concerned. "Not what I expected for a Westin"
I hesitated to write this review, but I feel that someone really needs to be forthright about the condition of this property. As one reviewer stated, the actual rooms are nothing like the pictures on Expedia's website. When I arrived at the hotel, I was impressed with what I could see of the grounds. Likewise, the lobby was pleasing - clean and inviting, […] with many business travelers lounging there. The front desk staff was very pleasant, too. I thought I'd gotten a real steal of a deal...until I walked into my room. I immediately knew something was wrong. There was a damp, musty smell in the room that reminded me of mildew or old carpet. I walked farther into the room and looked around in disbelief. The desk (which did not seem to even belong in the room) was warped from water stains or something. Likewise, the nightstand had the same warping. The upholstered chair near the window just did not look clean. The vent covering the a/c and heating unit was not secured to the wall. There louvered closet door had a whole in it. The bathroom had some dark stains on the floor. The furnishings were subpar. Just disappointing. I called the front desk and explained that I expected better and that this was not in keeping with the Westin/Starwood name. The front desk person was very nice and accommodating. We chose this hotel because we love the Westin brand hotel. However, this was not the hotel we were use to. The room was small and the guest were very loud. The staff were very professionally dressed and handled our reservation well. However, the workout gym was small and the equipment was in poor condition; the main piece of gym equipment was "out […] of order". We have decided to abandon the Westin brand because this chain does not offer free Wi-Fi, even the Red Roof in offers free coffee and internet. "Pretty dumpy for the price"
The location was great and the downstairs looked well done but our room was shabby, with clunky phones that food stuck to the reciever. We stayed in the hotel for almost 9 days.....we had booked a deluxe room...and we're extremely disappointed by how small the room was......when we first entered the room, the furniture arrangement seem to be totally scattered, making the room look even smaller....first thing we had to do was to rearrange the furniture like table, couch to be able to […] walk in the room. He didn't even say sorry but was clearly disturbed he had the wrong room. Now if I was delivering a pillow to someone nine times out of ten I'm still awake so I'm not sure why the person was knocking on the door and shouting Housekeeping so loud. I have already posted a review directly to The Westin's website. Our visit began with a sub-par room and they moved us to another room. Second room was a little larger, but we found the outside of a condom box in the second room. Housekeeping quickly arrived to change the bed linens, and the front desk offered to comp our breakfasts for both mornings […] of our visit. Cold coffee for breakfast, old half and half, and then not being allowed to use a luggage cart and waiting a lengthy time for a bellhop pushed us to the point of leaving and carrying our own luggage. Today I find out that my debit card was billed $50 for "incidentals" AFTER we had already checked out of the hotel. According to a representative from the hotel, that will be taken care of today.
