I enjoyed staying here and wouldn't hesitate to book here again. It's less than 2 blocks from the Hospital Clinic metro station and there's some decent places to grab a snack nearby if the hotel menu doesn't suit you.

The location is excellent - right near the Hospital Clinic Metro stop. The staff is exceptional. The room is comfortable and clean. The exercise facility is well equipped. The only caution is to avoid the overpriced breakfast. Not that the breakfast is bad but you can get the same thing for half the price at any of the nearby shops offering pastries […] and coffee. we're going back to Barcelona next fall and we're staying at U232!! The U232 is a really excellent hotel at the western edge of the Eixemple district, extremely close to a Metro stop. The interior lobby is great, and the bar area plays wonderful jazz music, making it a good spot to take a break, have a drink, and recharge. The staff was FANTASTIC, with useful recommendations for all sorts of things. Wonderful hotel. We do a lot of walking for museums, restaurants, galleries, churches, all the sites. Yet this hotel which we completely enjoyed, was a little too far off the beaten path. Next time we would find a closer hotel to the major sites.

Visited Aug/Sept '12. The hotel is located near a metro station in a non tourist area. The interior was very nice, the staff was very helpful, and the price was great. Will def recommend this hotel to others.

We recently stayed here for 4 nights and found it overall to be a very nice hotel, especially for the price. The rooms were clean and decent size. My largest complaint is how much noise we could hear above us and from surrounding rooms. The floors were wood so you could hear people stomping around, clicking around with heels, rolling their suitcase, […] and an awful noise every time someone moved the plastic chair. We could also hear clanking from nearby bathrooms. The beds did not have very heavy blankets, basically three sheets so we were not able to sleep as comfortably as we would have liked. The air conditioning worked wonderfully. The cleaning of the rooms was very inconsistent (ie no more shower gel one day, then two more the next day). The lobby is quite nice and the terrace on the top floor is lovely. I used the gym twice and found it to be quite suitable. The front desk staff were very attentive and helpful and the lobby is very charming with a nice bar and Internet lounge. The location is a little off the tourist areas but the metro is one and a half blocks away and the main attractions (diagonal area) are only one stop over on the metro. Overall, I would recommend this hotel given the price but beware if you sleep lightly. Read more

A very cozy yet classy small hotel. I was in town for work, and had to stay at a different hotel in the suburbs for the first few days. But for my last two nights I moved closer to the center of town, and thoroughly enjoyed the U232. Soft king bed, very quiet with lightly padded walls and soft carpeting, and a luxurious bathroom. And, to address one other visitor's comments .... the water in the shower was terrific once I figured out that one knob was for water pressure, and the other knob was for temperature. Rooms are very clean and well maintained, although not very big by American standards, but this is typical for Europe. The neighborhood is nice with lots of restaurants to choose from within two blocks of the hotel. The location is good - a taxi trip to most attractions is 10 Euros or less. The shared spaces throughout the hotel were really nice--very modern furnishings and nicely laid out. The room was also very pretty and for the price was perfect. Two things to consider before booking a room here: I'm not sure if this is the case in all rooms (we had two) but there were no drawers or closets. There was a small armoire in each room, […] but not tall enough to hang long dresses. Also, the walls are paper thin and we could hear everything from our neighbors both to the sides and above us. Conversations--coughing--noctural activities included. We didn't hear street noise--the windows kept that sound out. If you're a light sleeper, you should bring your earplugs. The breakfast buffet was excellent (it's an additional cost to the room charge) and offered a wide selection of delicious things. Read more

Really nice place, clean, somewhat trendy. Quiet and in a peaceful neighborhood, 2 short blocks from a Metro stop (an excellent system). Staff spoke English and were very helpful. One cab driver needed help finding it from a Spanish speaking tour guide who took us on a tapas tour that lasted till after midnight (la madrugada). I highly recommend and […] would stay there again. Nice small, but stylish room. Very quiet as it faced the alley. The rooftop was a nice respite to read or share a bottle of wine. Free wifi is always a plus. Subway within 2 blocks.

Our first trip to Barcelona and this hotel is away from the noise of all the tourist attractions, but just a short trip away via the Metro. The hotel was quiet, which is something we really wanted. The Metro stop is a short two blocks away. We had a little bit of an issue with shower staying hot, but we managed. Well located, stylish hotel. Clean, updated, well - sized room for Europe. One block from metro. A 10 minute metro ride to Ramblas and other tourist locations. Friendly and helpful staff. Few minor nuisances - lights did not work when I got to my room. Front desk did not honor my wakeup call. Otherwise, would recommend the hotel. Good value.

I would stay here again. It is in a great location for a great price and very clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. There is free wifi. The bar is nice, and on the second floor there is a cute lounge area as well. Yes, the furniture is somewhat cheap, but modern decor at an affordable price is going to mean cheap Ikea-style furniture. Make sure […] you ask for a room with a view toward the street. Our room had a view of the street the hotel is on and a nice blacony with good Wifi reception. But our first room had a view of lots of apartments and no wifi reception. The only real downsides were that the shower and sink were very slow to drain and the shower head was so strange it was hard to actually get the water on your body instead of hitting the front wall of the shower. Otherwise, this was a great hotel. There is a nice closet and ample drawer space, and also a desk and side chair. It's not a big room, but if you're in Barcelona staying in your room then you should go home anyway! If you stay here, you MUST go to Maitea for tapas! It's only two blocks away and AWESOME! We had a fabulous experience at the hotel. The rooms are very nice and new. The staff was helpful in giving us directions. It's about a 30+ minute walk from many key tourist sites such as La Ramblas, Casa Batllo, La Pedrera, but we enjoyed the exercise. The subway is also right outside the hotel.

This hotel is well appointed and in a good location- close to the metro- which can get you to any site that you might want to see in Barcelona. The metro is so simple and easy to use, we did not take a taxi the whole entire time we were in Barcelona! Our room had a settee at the end of the bed, and a bench against the wall, allowing for additional […] room which was welcome at times during our 5 day stay. The front desk staff was largely wonderful- all spoke great English- one evening staffer on the front desk was not particularly warm or open, he did not even acknowledge our presence as we entered the lobby, but his actions were the exception- not the rule. The hotel offers 2 computers for patrons use, helpful for web-check in, etc--such offerings at no charge were very thoughtful since we had decided to forgo bringing and technology with us on our 3+ weeks abroad. One small, but somewhat important privacy detail- the bathrooms are not completely private, rather they are separated by a sort of 'blind system' between the bathroom and the main room- which do not close.. so if you are trying to allow a spouse to sleep in and keep the light out of the main room- cannot do so. Or if you are traveling with a friend, and might want some privacy in the bath while showering or in the bathroom, etc- there is little privacy--- just making a notation so people will know. Also- there is a Mailboxes Etc business right around the corner from the hotel - useful for sending things home if you do not want to schlep them along them remainder of your trip. The hotel has a great location, just a block away from the metro and a few blocks away from the train station. Room is small but clean and modern. Only problem as with most European big city hotels is the parking. We drove from France and decided to return our car early (at the Sants Train Station a few blocks away) than to pay 20+ euros a day for […] a car that has no use when walking through the city as there is no where to park. Would not recommend this hotel. Found a bug crawling on me, under the sheets, while taking a nap in the afternoon. Saw a lot of fruit flies in the room (at least 4). Worst of all, I caught a beg bug in the morning! I took it down to the front desk and they said, "thank you for bringing it to their attention" and looked at me. I asked them to do something […] about it and they said there is nothing they could do - as I did not book with them directly. Unfortunately, my taxi to the airport was waiting outside and it was early in the morning so no manager to speak with. I had to leave and could not wait around. Needless to say, will never stay there again! After coming back to the US, I saw a review with trip advisor and read about bed bugs back in 2010. What a shame as the hotel was really nice! Read more

Loved this hotel. The neighborhood it is in is quiet, yet it is only a short walk from all the crazy/interesting sites in Barcelona, like Ramblas. Or take the Metro, it is 1 block away. The #5 line is right there, and you switch to #3 after 2 stops and lots of tourist attractions are on that line. You will not regret staying at this hotel. Everything is within walking distance if a mile is within your limit. Metro just down the road 100 yards if you do not want to stay above ground to see the sights. Great rates can be had too if you look for them.
