"Unexceptional"
Why is European five star only the equivalent of US three star? I understand the restrictions of space but everything from the lack of air conditioning (the room was boiling hot in March, imagine what it'd be like in summer, but couldn't be cooled) to the free internet working at a pace I used to have more than a decade ago — faster internet which you'll get an ETAP free you'll have to pay for. The smallest of things from electric sockets loose from the wall, to the lack of an iron and ironing board in the room, to the silly trivia of the mini-bottles of shampoos, seemed to show a lack of interest in maintaining a five star level. Even the TV channels were poor. The French channels didn't work and the English ones were Al Jazeera, Russia Today and the deathly CNN were useless from anyone wanting a decent news coverage. Would I stay there again? Probably, The location was good but five star, this ain't!

"Good Hotel, 15-20 minute walk from the Old Town"
The hotel is clean and well maintained, very close to the main station, Dusseldorf HBF. It's a bit of a walk from the main attractions, but it's well run with a decent swimming pool and small spa facility. The hotel is a classic business hotel but will serve anyone looking for a decent quality base in the city. If you're happy to walk to places, then you won't have a problem - it's about a mile to the river and old town.

"Stag Do!"
Very good - mainly Japanese area / hotel, but no problems whatsoever. Clean, tidy, good service, somewhere to put the bags before check in and after check out at no extra cost. Lifts abit complicated at first and bar quite expensive, but other than that all very good and would very much recommend the hotel

"Good Hotel & Location Expensive Extras"
Hi was a well located hotel with good staff however extras were expensive - breakfast was very overpriced, Wifi was €25 per day and you have to pay to use the pool & spa ... very dissapointing!

"Just good location"
The rooms are good enough clean,good location , 10 to 15 min walk to Rein river and down town.Incredible price for breakfast. Each one 25 € and really doesn't cost at all. Even there is no fresh juice in buffet! In addition to there are so many japonise there.you can't count on as a 5 star hotel indeed.

"Great hotel for attending a conference."
Good hotel, great location for attending Gamescom or GDC - or any conference, right across the road. Food is great, although room service a little shoddy - had to phone back after an hour of nothing arriving. But the food is really good.

"Just Okay"
Generally the hotel was just okay. It was walking distance from Old Town. However, I asked to use their computer to print off my boarding pass, one of the computers was out of order so I had to wait to use the working computer. I also had to check my emails and there was only ONE member of staff who knew how to find the @ button. And he was off. The attitude from reception was unbelievable, she was so rude. At the end I walked to old town found a Starbucks who had FREE wifi and emailed it to hotel information so they could print off the boarding pass. Only on that one occasion did I have a query and was faced with attitude.

"good for japanese and shopping only"
HOT! the room is HOT and dry! air conditioner doesn't work and the switch is from WW2. The lift just slow, complicated and they are telling people to use the service lift. And I am not the only one to comment on this, I was sitting at the lobby waiting them to finish cleaning my room at 3pm, I was out since 10am, and I saw 98% of people have no idea how the lift work! and always jammed. The tv signal is bad, picture is not clear. The Hotel is old and out dated, if you are japanese this is perfect for you, japanese writing are everywhere, and japanese speaking staffs too.

"Excellent location"
Great location and a big Hotel with lots of facilities. Easy walk to the old town and river and most attractions. The killer is the internet connection charges at 25 euros a day for one device and another 15 euros for a second device. In the modern world where any business person needs to connect and ipad and a phone the extra 40 euros a day on the room bill means that there are other hotels worth considering. Other add on s like the mini bar and meals were also expensive.

"Pretty good"
The reception and bar are nice with the addition of parking below. The staff and service are the key to this hotel and really make it pleasant. The rooms are a little tired but still comfy. Located in the Japanese district it is culturally ideal for something a little different.

"Disgraceful behaviour"
Overall the hotel is excellent but at our visit to the bar in the evening the waitress dropped a glass of beer on the table showering one of my party with broken glass and beer. Her response was nothing short of disgraceful. She thought it was hilarious and could not stop laughing out loud. Not even acceptable in a cheap pub but this is supposed to be a quality hotel. A one off incident and these things happen but for the staff to think its funny is NOT funny.

"Clash of cultures or too high expectations?"
Overall, the service offered by staff and the room size was very good. The reason I hesitate to rate '5's is due to the following: for the price paid, I expected a bit more attention to details. The tissue box was almost empty in the restroom and there was a slight sewage odour in the bathroom. Also, my room was located across the hall from the service entrance. At first, I figured it's because I was paying a discounted amount, however, after seeing my bill, I should have asked for a different room. The hotel is located in Little Tokyo which is fine, but the walk from the Central Station to the room was a bit sketchy. finally, I would have like either a flat sheet for my bed, or a duvet slight bigger than the bed so it would hang over. I should mention I come from US/Latin American and am used to having a flat sheet and being fully covered in bed. Pros: room was big (but not sure of sizes in Germany vs. UK/Paris), staff was very helpful, and location was a block away from tube station and three blocks from Central Station.

"It's getting old, but still nice hotel"
It's always nice to stay at Nikko hotel, which has high standard in cleanliness and service, amenities etc, but the hotel is just getting old compared to newly refurbished boutique hotels around the city. It's not big deal, but start to notice the age.

Hotel location surrounded by F&B international cuisines - located in Japan town, in the heart of shopping food transportation... My complaint - single bed to very narrow, shower screen not well designed to keep the floor dry. Well maintanined bathrooms, my room old carpets and a broken bed !

"Convenient Hotel in Dusseldorf"
There is the old part of the hotel and the new one. The old part is ok (hence the reasonable price). The new refurbished part of the hotel is very nice. Good location near the main train station.

I was at the Hotel Nikko for two nights on business. Staff was polite and welcoming and room was comfortable. My only real complaint about the hotel is the high cost of internet (22.00 euros per day) which is even higher if you want to access the internet on more than one device (i.e. on a laptop and on an iPad). Not sure these high prices are justified and adds to the price of the room considerably - something to keep in mind when budgeting for your trip.

"Dated hotel and expensive lousy internet"
Can't understand how this can be a five star hotel. The cubicles you sleep in are decently furnished and okay sized but looking out through the window it looks like you're sleeping in a ferry. It lacks charm and finesse, and more annoyingly internet is overpriced and doesn't work half the time. Front desk staff were friendly and efficient. Will not be staying here again.

When I stayed in Nikko hotel in paris sometime ago the use of indoor swimming pool was free there but this time in Dusseldorf it wasn't. i wasn't very happy about that.

"Disappointing experience not fit for business!"
On the face of it, hotel appeared to be of good quality and staff friendly and helpful, good English etc Niggling things, temperature control in room poor, too hot therefore difficult to sleep, ventilation was effective as mouse with asthma although noisier. Room service breakfast 15 minutes late and disappointing, maid took away hotel services book including next days breakfast ordering and reception refused to take over night order so went down to breakfast, again disappointing, the 'cooked' breakfast, everything was cold, eggs, beans, bacon, mushrooms everything! no ability to make toast, milk was UHT - hate it personally. Requested ironing facilities for room, told not available, must trapse to 6th floor ironing room. Long queue for check out in the morning, no taxis available outside hotel. So for a business traveller, forget it. For a central, expensive hotel the facilities and services were very disappointing, will not stay there again. Seemed popular with Japanese for some reason?

"Still My Hotel of Choice in Dusseldorf"
I last stayed in the Nikko about 8 years ago. It has not changed much and, in my opinion, is well maintained and of a high standard of furnishing and decor. The amenities - the restaurants, the spa, gym and pool are likewise in great condition. The whole hotel is orderly and very clean - I am mystified about some on-line commentaries expressing dissatisfaction with the Nikko. Expectations are sometimes ridiculous! All in all this was not an expensive couple of nights and I left knowing that I will stay here again on my next visit to Dusseldorf. The penthouse swimming pool, gym and spa (from where there are excellent views of the city) was memorable once again - it now costs 15 Euros per day (it was free to guests 8 years ago) but is well worth it. The Nikko is very "Japanese" in style and this might put off some people - but I don't see why.

Zimmer wurde gebucht wegen der Möglichkeit zu Schwimmen. Das Hallenbad war aber gar nicht geöffnet, einen Hinweis darauf gab es nicht. Info gab es erst persönlich am Check-In. Zudem wäre der Schwimmbadbereich, falls er geöffnet gewesen wäre auch noch zusätzlich kostenpflichtig gewesen. Auch hierzu gab es keinen Hinweis bzw. keinen schnell erkennbaren Hinweis. Mag ja irgendwo auf einer Unterseite der page gestanden sein, aber nicht so, daß es der Kunde schnell bemerken kann. Schade - etwas mehr Transparenz wäre bei der Preiskategorie wünschenswert.

"Helt ok hotel sentralt i Dusseldorf"
Hotellet ligger sentralt. Stort hotell med hyggelig resepsjon. Bodde på et gammelt rom med ingen ventilasjon som fungerte. God seng med bra sengetøy og puter. En kollega fikk et nyrenovert rom og det så veldig fint ut samt god ventilasjon. Be om et nyrenovert rom.

Hotellet har en fin beliggenhed og størrelse. Men at skilte med gratis Wifi er nok lige at skilte med for meget, for det virkede overhovedet ikke på vores 2 dages besøg - så vi kunne ikke arbejde på hotelværelset.

立地は周辺に日本食材店や日本食材レストランもあり申し分ない。 駐車場はチェックイン前に着いた為周辺の駐車場にとめたが、1日11ユーロだった為そのまま停めて、ホテルに停めるより安くすんだ。 部屋は広かったが、Wi-Fiは切れやすく電気もきれていた。

日本語のテレビが見られるのが、嬉しいです。 部屋の冷蔵庫が空なので、好きなものを冷やせるのが良いです。 ホテルの裏に地下鉄の駅があるので、移動はしやすいです。

kein Rabatt von Parkplatz für Hotelgäste (22Euro/Tag) Mitarbeiter am Rezeption bei Check Out sind absolut sprachlos... über 10 Jahren lang nikko hotel gebucht wegen der attraktiven Lage, aber es lohnt sich nicht. zu altes Zimmer und zu kleines Badezimmer...zu teuer für ein Frühstück(27 Euro/Person)..kein nette Service.
