"Nice, in the middle of renovation"
Very nice hotel...during renovation, but nothing significant.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Just enjoyed a lovely stay at the Portland Marriott Downtown Waterfront (as opposed to the *other* Marriotts in downtown Portland). We had a wonderful view of the river and Mount Hood from our room. The fitness room was top-notch, and the indoor pool and whirlpool were a welcome way to relax. Although presently doing some light re-modeling, the hotel […] was quite comfortable. The service was professional and exceedingly friendly -- everyone from the parking valet folks, the front desk, to the servers at Truss (the hotel's restaurant). (A special shout out to chef Patrick at Truss for going the extra mile to mix up a tea concoction to battle the very bad cold that one of us had! Rebecca was wonderfully welcoming at Truss too.) We appreciated the complimentary internet access as well. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Our stay was wonderful, we had a great dinner at Veritable Quandary recommended by Bill at the front desk. Everyone was kind and welcoming!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Overpriced for the room. Very disappointed to walk into our room and see how small and plain it was. No mini-fridge, shower/tub combo and just overall underwhelming. We were awoken by a loud beeping at 4am that continued for thirty minutes.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"perfect hotel for a Portland vacation!"

Room's are dated but they are renovating this spring.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Celebrating our anniversary. Great room with water view. Warm welcome at the check in. Friendly atmosphere at the hotel bar. Great dinner experience at the Brazil Grill downtown Portland.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"GREAT GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!"
GREAT PLACE--LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING REMODEL NEXT STAY CUSTOMER SERVICE IS EXCELLENT HERE! THEY WERE HAPPY TO MAKE SURE WE HAD A RIVER VIEW ROOM AND WERE VERY ACCOMMODATING!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Nice room with a excellent view! Friendly staff, nice amenities And great location! Only reason I didn't give this hotel 5 star was the bed wasn't very comfortable and you could hear the sound of the local train pretty loudly.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"it was awesome"
it was awesome like it every yr. tyGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Two day trip.Hotel staff very good. Hotel itself is a but dated and was undergoing renovations when I was there which made for a noisy stay. Food at on site restaurant was very good as was room service. Great location for business meeting and quick to and fro to airport.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Thank you for a lovely birthday weekend!"
My children presented me with a weekend in Portland for my birthday. I have to say my trip exceeded my expectations starting with my hotel stay at The Marriott. I was very pleased with not only the cleanliness of my room but with the quiet surroundings. However, my 5 Star rating goes directly to my waiter, Sam, in the dining room with outstanding courteous […] and attentive service and to my waitress, Karen, who served me breakfast with a cheerful good morning! My birthday was fab in Portland! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great Hotel / Great Location"
The Waterfront Marriott was perfect! It was walking distance to all the main attractions in the downtown Portland area!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great stay; will come back!"
We were in Portland to see a show and visit family. The hotel was just blocks from the show so we could easily walk. Lots of restaurants nearby. Room was great with a river view and the staff was friendly and helpful. Loved our stay and will definitely come back.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"really good price for a really great hotel room."
It was wonderful! Staff VERY friendly and helpful. Beer tasting in the lobby both days. Great location.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"The lap of non-pretentious luxury, but far from downtown."
A Marriott is traditionally a classy place, so its reputation precedes it. Here's some insider info: Parking is best handles by their valets ($35/day added expense), their hotel restaurant is very nice but the hotel bar closes before 2 a.m., and the beds are incredibly comfortable. The only downside for Millennials is the nightlife will require cabbing […] it, because there is nothing nearby to speak of. (There's another Marriott downtown a few blocks from strip clubs for you 'Barney Stinson' types, if that's your thing. It's not mine.) everybody at the Marriott is professional, and I would stay again. (I got a great deal rate from hotels.com for the room, but otherwise it would be spends.) "not worth the money"
-the lady at check in was not very nice or friendly. can't remember her name. -parking is expensive! $35/night. -the walls are very thin. you can hear everything going on in the next room i.e., shower, tv, talking. -street was very noisy. we were on the 4th floor and could hear everything outside including cars and sirens -the room we got was so small. […] felt cramped with 2 beds and 3 people. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Marriott Portland Downtown Waterfront Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us. We apologize that your stay was not a pleasant one. Street noise and noisy neighbors are unfortunate and we have a staff on hand to address the issue of noisy neighbors. I'm sorry to hear our staff was less than welcoming to you. The staff of our hotel regularly gets rave reviews from our guests. I will be sure to review your comments so we can correct this issue. You may be interested to know we wil be renovating our rooms starting next month and the new design will give you more available space in the room. We hope you come to visit us again and let us show you what a great staff and hotel we have. Sincerely, William S/Senior Rooms Operations Manager
Stayed here for Halloween. I am from Portland but we didn't want to drive so we stayed at the Marriott. I have never stayed here but it is a very nice Marriott! Will stay again if I have a need to stay downtown. Love the shower heads!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The room was dirty (sheets/toilet). The Bistro was uninviting an chaotic. Nearby meal choices were horrible. The price was outrageous for the accommodations. At least at Motel 6, you know what to expect.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Expensive Downtown Hotel"
Typical large downtown hotel- rooms were clean and reasonably comfortable, but were smallish with no refrig or microwave that even much less expensive places have. Very expensive for what you get. I guess you pay for location as it was convenient to all downtown attractions and close to a bus stop to get everywhere else. Since parking is outrageously […] expensive at the hotel, I suggest you use a garage nearby. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"hotel on the river"
I didn't eat there just slept, showered. In room coffee was ok. The environmentally friendly choice to avoid daily, unnecessary, changing of sheets, towel and room cleaning is greatly appreciated! I was surprised that continental breakfast was not included.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice place in SW portland"
Wife brought me into town for a weekend getaway. Nice room on top floor with a great view of the Willamette river. Within walking distance of shopping and dining downtown. Room was laid out nice. Bed was comfortable. Good service from staff.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Location location location"
The location of the hotel was the biggest draw for us and it paid off. We were within walking distance of just about everything we wanted to do and a short cab ride from anything further out. I think it was also close to a ton of public transit even though we didn't take advantage of that. On top of that, the hotel was clean and nice with a good bar […] on the ground floor. The room seemed small and the amenities were few. We had dinner leftovers but there wasn't a refrigerator in the room to keep them cold, so we had to get rid of them. The room was quiet, and the view was lovely, but if we opened the window, the road noise was very loud and very constant.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel. Not a nice room"
The room was clean but very uncomfortable as it was a "corner room" with a very weird shape. The air conditioning unit was old and noisy - not appropriate for the amount of money you pay for the stay. The valet parking was pretty ridiculous considering around the corner the parking was less than half of that.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Marriott Portland Downtown Waterfront Thank you for taking time to review our hotel. We're sorry the room did not meet your expectations, but you may be interested to know we will be completing a renovation at the end of the year for all our rooms which will include replacement of the air conditioning units as well. While Valet Parking is our only option for our hotel, it does offer the convenience of having your car brought to the front entrance anytime 24 hours a day and it is kept out of the weather and in a secured location. We hope if your travels bring you back to Portland that you will come to stay with us again.
This was our first trip to Portland and we wanted to be somewhere walkable. This location fit the bill completely. We were across the street from the river. Able to walk to several restaurants and the Saturday Farmers Mkt.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Not worth the price...."
The hotel staff were relatively nice but the hotel room was small, dated, and way to expensive for what it was.Genuine Expedia guest review
Response by Marriott Portland Downtown Waterfront Thank you for staying with us. We're sorry your experience with us did not meet your expectations. You may be interested to know we will be renovating all our guest rooms beginning the end of this year and hope to be completed by the end of the first quarter next year. This renovation, will bring a new and exciting look to our guest rooms that our staff cannont wait to show off to our guests. We hope you take the opportunity in the future to stay with us and let us know what you think of our "new" hotel.
"great hotel, good access to all"
Used hotel as base for sleeping, bar/ballgames, access to touristy things, running on river. Apparently all staff were considered concierges, and they were outstanding.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Weekend with friends"
Free wi-fi advertised but it was a pay service upwards of $9.95! Perhaps the lobby computer was free but not in the rooms. Good location, easy of getting on and off iterstate. Valey (pay) parking availableGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Rooms are small"
Rooms are a bit small and a 10 min walk to downtown. but great for running on waterfront.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Good hotel for business. Easy walking to restaurants and river across the street for a stroll. Parking is $35 per day and Wi-Fi in the room is 9.95 per day. Free in the lobby.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"I enjoyed my stay"
This is a really nice hotel. My room had a fabulous view. The hotel staff were also friendly. The only thing it didn't was a mini fridge. Sometime you bring back half of your lunch or something like that. The location was near the event I was attending.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Beautiful river view"
Stayed here to attend event at Keller Auditorium. Perfect location. Room was lovely with great river view. Food in restaurant and room service was excellent. Would definitely stay here when in Portland.Genuine Expedia guest review
Hotel and room was clean & tidy. Amenities were adequate. Room was small with no in-room safe. Overall lack of value compared to other similar hotels in the downtown area.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice Watetfront hotel"
Enjoyed the hotel and the proximity to the waterfront and great restaurants. A comfortable and enjoyable visit.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Tight management team"
Enjoyed the can-do attitude and just plain good ole friendliness of all the staff. Had a problem with noisy neighbor very late on e night and was quickly resolved by night manager. Will return!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"beautiful walk way and sights were very accessable"
It was very comfortable but a little noisy with a large convention in progress. Many people were standing outside the building in the back exit smoking and yelling late at night. The hotel staff were very helpful with directions and information.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The room was very nice, the view lovely. Downside: no fan in the bathroom and no refrigerator in the room. Also, there was a convention at the hotel, yet there were only two elevators running. Wait time was up to twelve minutes....no reason for that.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient location, friendly service"
For 10 guys meeting up in Portland, this hotel was convenient in location and amenities. Great to be downtown but with easy access to freeways for wine tasting and to-from airport. Within walking distance to the PSU farmers' market. Bar was comfortable for hanging out and watching sports. All of the hotel workers were very friendly and courteous.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
After dropping our daughter off at college in Tacoma, my wife and I visited Seattle and Portland on our way home. The Marriott Portland was a highlight of the journey. We were given a comfortable room adjacent to the Presidential Suite on the top floor, with great views. In addition to a well-equipped fitness center we enjoyed access to the river front […] park and walks out the front door. Many great restaurants and shopping in easy walking distance. Staff was friendly and quite helpful. Valet parking was a little pricey and no free wi-fi in rooms. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very nice stay, close to the river anworkshop"
Good clean enviroment, close to river and other site seer dream. Good conference hotelGenuine Expedia guest review
Very nice place to stay and conveniently located. The hotel is showing it's age a little in some of the room, especially bathrooms. The rate to park is outrageous, given the general cost of a room. Even knowing those couple of items, I'd still stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great location and wonderful view! Rooms get a little loud if you face the water. Lobby is always full as is the Bistro. Parking is unbelievably over priced. It's robbery how much they charge. Tip: park and eat somewhere else if you want to save a bit of money.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great service, sub-par in-room amenities"
The hotel staff were very friendly and knowledgeable and the hotel itself is in a great location. I was somewhat disappointed with the in-room amenities however. There was no mini fridge or hair dryer for instance. Overall a good experience and Portland is great!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
hotel was nice, but paid extra for water view and got a little window in corner of building. Had a view of all the big window units across from us. For the price paid I expected a bigger room and bigger window.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The Waterfront Marriott has the perfect view of the mountains and river, seconds away from a great walking or running path as well as being close to mass transit and restaurants. The hotel has a very attentive staff and a stellar group of waiters in the main restaurant. I would stay there again any time!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good hotel, just not perfect"
The hotel was good, the staff was super friendly and helpful, and the stay was enjoyable. It just wasn't a 5-star stay. The bathrooms wasn't up to par. It wasn't gross, it just wasn't 5-star quality. Everything felt worn. The rooms were somewhat awkwardly shaped, and didn't have a fridge/microwave, which I expected for the price.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"convenient, close to shopping, restaurants and sch"
My husband and I had a lovely stay.......I had business at Western Seminary and he relaxed. A special treat was the symphony on Thursday night in the Gov McCall park.......We had dinner at the Bistro and breakfast on the 2nd floor......all good, pleasant wait staff.....Genuine Hotels.com guest review
