"Good stay, reasonable price"
The price was fair, but not overly cheap, good location, and clean rooms.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"great location, great service"
I was very happy with this hotel. I would recommend it to anyone going to Portland for the first time. Walking distance to all the best attractions. Staff was great, room was great- view was perfect!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Very satisfied.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Will definitely stay there the next time we come to Portland (5/14) but hope the weather will be better. Not prepared for seven inches of snow and freezing rain with no snow removal. Believe it or not, was glad to get back to Chicago with below zero wind chill temperatures but at least with cleared streets and sidewalks!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to restaurants and shopping"

"Great Hotel but bad house keeping"
The hotel is great, rooms are decent but still has popcorn ceilings. Location is right in downtown, walking distance to everything. The only bad thing was that house keeping never came to make my room everyday I was there. The privacy sign was not on the door. Came back to the room everyday disappointed and had to call the front desk for them to make […] it up while I left the room for dinner. Front desk said my room was marked as clean on their books and was surprised. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Marriott Portland Downtown Waterfront I apologize that housekeeping did not service your room in a timely manner. I understand how frustrating that can be when you return to your room after a long day only to find that housekeeping has not taken care of your room. When you return to Portland, please let us know you are coming, we would like the opportunity to show you what a great hotel we have and that the staff is commited to great service.
The hotel was fine. Great service at front desk. Parking very expensive at hotel and surrounding area. Makes room prices go up at least $35/day.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Could have been better"
I have an over-all rating of 3 for this location, but rate everything else as a 4. Seem odd? I brought the overall rating down due to two things. First, the walls in the place are paper thin between the rooms. Not only could we hear our "neighbor" use the toilet, but we could then hear him/her zip their pants up. Second, on Sunday morning we went to […] the restaurant for breakfast and were told there would be a 35 minute wait while they cleared off tables. Now that seems a little extreme. So, we went down to the lobby bar that has a few breakfast items, took a seat at a table, and we were then ignored for 15 minutes while the employees there served walk-ups and talked and laughed amonst themselves. We left before being talked to. We had had room service breakfast the day before, and the food was not that good. Would we stay there again? No, we would not. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The room looked out over the water and it was a great view!!! The only complaint would be a train went by (somewhere) around 4 am and blew it's whistle much longer than seemed necessary.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Nice hotel- frustrating to be charged for internet but they did remove the charge at check out when I mentioned it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Nice hotel on the waterfront. Great 10th floor view of the river, east Portland, and beautiful Mt Hood. The only problem was the sound of trains blowing their horns constantly after midnight into early morning.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The Marriott is a beautiful hotel in downtown Portland. However, they do not offer guest parking (other than valet for $32 a night) nor do they offer free wi-fi. If you are a business traveler on an expense account and without a car this would be a great location, but for the casual traveler driving through there are better choices in the greater Portland […] area. "Great stay except...."
The service was wonderful. We did have an issue with one of the valet parking attendants. She was rude and didn't respect our vehicle ( almost hit a bicyclist. The staff was quick to apologize and handle things to our satisfaction. Would stay, and hope to, again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The overall experience during our weekend stay here was great, from the beginning to the end. The staff was very welcoming! Our reservations were met with a high degree of professionalism from the staff/employees. We had an awesome waterfront view, the room service was beyond our expectations, I highly recommend to anyone visiting downtown Portland […] to stay here. "Average room, close to downtown"
Recommend parking in a Smart Park, as hotel parking is expensive. The 1st and Jefferson Smart Park is only a few blocks away. Did not use any facilities in the hotel. Not much in surrounding neighborhood...a Starbucks around the corner. Was OK because we had a car. The beds were comfortable. Bathroom OK, just average, small, small tub w/shower curtain. […] Irritating that there was just one hook on bathroom door for towels. One rack in shower. Would not pay more than we did for rooms, which were discounted this time of year...January. Housekeeping fine. Comfortable average room. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Overall a great stay"
We splurged on the valet and it ended up being worth the money. The staff all took their time to ensure you were being looked after and asked if they could give us any directions or tips on the area. The downfalls were paying $13 a night for wifi, small rooms and no microwave or mini fridge. We would definitely stay here again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The customer service was one of the best I have had in awhile. I was very pleased on how nice everyone was who worked there. I honestly wasnt expecting it to be as nice as it was!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent New Year's in Portland!"
Picked this hotel at random, but I'm sure glad it was the one I chose! Valet guys were super nice and accommodating. Excellent first impression. Check in was easy (again, really nice people), free New Year's goodies at front desk (yay!) Overall atmosphere of the hotel was really amazing. The water they keep by the elevators has lemons and limes in it... […] super yummy. Our room had the most amazing view and everything we needed. Even the dude who brought our bags up made conversation and was really lively. Love the fitness center and indoor pool on the third floor. Chill vibes all around. Also was in the perfect location by the water. All the action of New Year's was no more than 100 feet from the entrance of the hotel. Highly recommend it! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Small rooms and huge gap under door"
The rooms are very very small . All the doors leading into the rooms have a 2 inch gap at the bottom so that you can even hear someone's tv playing down the hall , and anyone talking walking by is disruptive . Bathrooms very small as well .Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We had a great stay! The hotel was beautiful, comfortable rooms, and outstanding service by warm and friendly personnel. We will stay at this hotel again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"on the fence."
The gentleman who worked there were very nice and courteous to our family....Unfortunately the females were very stuck up and unhelpful. One actually sent us to a restaurant that we asked for a recommendation with two 4 year olds...a restaurant that didnt have a kids menu and everything was intimate and glass...cheapest item on menu was $30! Rooms were […] clean and so was the hotel...maybe a few more modern advances to pretty it up would be nice, pretty standard. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great downtown stay!"
I booked this room as part of a surprise birthday getaway with my wife. I was very impressed by the hotel and the service we received. The workout room was one of the nicest I've seen in a hotel. There was some nighttime noise even audible from the 16th floor, but that's expected when downtown. I'll go back for sure.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The customer service that we receive at the Portland Downtown Waterfront Marriott is always outstanding. They are always so accommodating to any request that we may have. The one area that could be improved is that there aren't many "average family pricing" options. For example, the hotel only has valet parking, which is $30+ per night, and they don't […] have any other options for people who can't afford that. Also, the cafe pricing is such that families are forced to walk several blocks to find a more affordable meal. More affordable options for families would be an area in which the Marriott could improve. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Very disappointed. The spa was not working, which was the main reason for choosing this hotel out of others available for the night. The staff was very passive about our disappointment and offered no consolation, only to say that the spa "is a nice perk." No one opened the front door or greeted us coming or going, which seemed very odd for a "high end" […] hotel at the rate being charged. The beds were extremely small and uncomfortable and the room was hot! Would not recommend or stay here again!!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We stayed for 3 days. A little hard to get to, but overall a nice place. A little disappointed that there is not a nice restaurant in the hotel for Dinner. We ate at the same place for lunch and I thought there was a different menu for Dinner, there was not. Overall it was a good place to stay and we had a good time in Portland.Genuine Expedia guest review
Our stay was amazing. We were close to everything. The staff made us feel very special and pampered. Jesse at the front check in was particularly exceptional. He was extremely friendly and even sent a complimentary bottle of wine and chocolates to our room. Jesse also took the time to find out what we were doing and ask us about our outing after we […] returned. He also took the time to leave us a handwritten note in our room with anniversary congratulations. I would definitely stay there again. Thank you Jesse!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Comfortable, clean and great location"
This hotel has a great location. While the room initially assigned to me overlooked a dreary parking lot and had an overenthusiastic heater, Melissa at the front desk was really helpful and at my request gave me an alternative room with a great view of Mt. Hood and the river outside. Overall a comfortable stay, friendly staff and a good selection of […] restaurants within walking distance. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
It was fine. Nothing bad. Nothing memorable. I'm sure it will fade away in my mind quite soon......Genuine Expedia guest review
The room was not that much nicer to justify the expense. Restaurants high (buffet breakfast $50 for 2) for rubber potatoes. Valet parking only for $32 per night. It was nice to have an indoor pool and whirlpool.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We had a great time it is in a great location to just leave the car parked and head out on the town on foot.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great Location, Good Value."
I've stayed here in the past and as usual the staff was extremely accommodating and friendly. Very nice lobby, lounge, and restaurant upgrades since my last stay. Awesome breakfast buffet. Easy access to the Riverfront Park as well as Downtown Portland. While it's not in "the heart of downtown," it's only a few blocks off and I always enjoy the extra […] little walk. The rooms were way too small for the price. Had brunch at their breakfast buffet, used my card to pay for it and gave cash for a tip some how they added their own tip to the bill. So now I have to go to the bank and get a copy of the signed receipt. The maid came knocking on the door at 8:30 am and then continued knocking every half hour even though […] she was told no thank you several times it took putting the sign on the door for her to get it. The overall experience at this hotel was uncomfortable and was way over priced. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Swanky place with nice indoor pool!"
My wife and I just wanted to have a special night with the kids on the way to grandma's house. We paid $193 for a $149 room + 20 for breakfast the next morning ($40 value) + taxes. After that, I wasn't interested in also paying the $32 for overnight valet parking so I found a street parking spot 6 blocks away (free). But on the adjacent block, you can […] park for $17 or something. But we had a great night and swam in the evening and the next morning. All in all it was a fine value, but if you can snag the $99 deals, definitely go for that. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Our room was very small, and way too hot, we turned the air conditioning on and it sounded like someone was running a vacuum. After tossing and turning most of the night, the alarm next to my head went off at 4:00 am...I am guessing it was from a previous guest, however I couldn't figure out how to turn it off. I have two small children, so this was […] very irritating. Because of our awful night of sleep, we slept in until 9:00, but were awoken when housekeeping came barging into our room. We ate downstairs at the Truss Bistro, and after waiting an hour the food was just OK. I have stayed at high end hotels and budget friendly hotels, like Holiday Inn and would choose Holiday Inn any day. Valet parking was the only option tacking another 32.00 onto our bill. The only perk of this hotel was the pool, it was calm, not too bright or loud, and saltwater. I would look into other hotels in the area before booking here. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Good location for strolling on the waterfront. We took a good long walk and enjoyed the ambiance. Because we don't eat in hotel restaurants, the location provided a mediocre choice of diners, and restaurants within walking distance.Genuine Expedia guest review
I felt for what we paid for the room the beds should have been queen size, there should of been a refrigarator and we should of had free internet!Genuine Expedia guest review
The restaurant was incredible. You have to eat there.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Short and sweet"
I was only in Portland for one night and this hotel was just fine. Offered an upgrade and the allure of a balcony was nice. As usual, not much soundproofing so early morning showers and departures around me were obvious. Would've been nice to have FREE wi-fi.Genuine Expedia guest review
Great location; very helpful front desk staff; nice housekeeping team - very friendly in the hallwaysGenuine Expedia guest review
"Did not get reserved room"
We booked a room with a king bed, even double-checked the reservation to make sure I wasn't the one that made the mistake. Upon checking in, they had none and gave us a room with two double beds. Not exactly ideal. Check-in also took a very long time b/c the front desk person was trying to make up for not giving us our reserved king bed room by giving […] us a higher level floor. We ended up on the 5th floor. Not exactly great either. But the front desk person did their best, was very professional and was absolutely not at fault. The room itself was fine. Seemed clean enough, although it smelled a little musty. We turned the AC to be colder and it seemed to get better. The bathroom could have used a new shower curtain though. Towels were clean and plentiful. Wi-fi was reliable and relatively fast for a hotel connection. The hotel seemed really busy, always crowded and loud in the lobby - but the hallway of our floor was quiet and we could not hear anything in our room, so that was very nice.
