Our business organization has used this location for many years for the annual meeting. It is a very good choice for handling the large convention with many attractions of interest during the warmer months. We enjoyed our weekend at Tan-Tar-A and are looking forward to getting married there this fall. On this visit we were treated to friendly, kind service from every single staff member we encountered. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet at Black Bear Lodge very much. Dinner there was only about average in quality, and did not have much in the way of vegetarian […] options for me. We tried to visit the indoor waterpark, but it was extremely crowded on Saturday and we realized it is geared for younger visitors. Adult guests should save the costs of the waterpark admission, and just enjoy the free pools. All guests should be aware that the property has many hills and stairways to navigate, though I am confident the guest services desk would help with golf cart rides to various parts of the property for visitors with special needs. The shops offer a variety of fun souvenirs and treats with more of the same friendly service found elsewhere on site. We enjoyed relaxing in front of the large saltwater aquarium in Mr. D's Lounge, where the staff was prompt and pleasant and the jukebox has anything you want to hear. The property is reasonably well-maintained, with a certain old-fashioned, kitschy touristy feel. Though nothing is overly luxurious, everything was comfortable enough. Read more

The resort is nice. We only stayed one night during the winter and did not get to experience the whole thing. I would have given a 5 on overall but the restaurant we ate at was a little pricey for the quality of food we received. Other than that, everything was great.

Never stayed in a more pleasant place--lake-mountians, peace-christmas lights that surpass Branson. Out of season and restaruantws closed but price was so affordable for such luxury and the food in town marvelous. Will go back every year. More than once. The drive from tulsa---worth it.

Tan-Tar-A is still a nice place to visit even though it's been around a while. The location and scenery is beautiful. The rooms are a bit dated and the TVs definitely need replaced. But overall, it was a good experience for the money.

Outward appearances will scare you to being old. But it is a good resort with interconnected buildings. Tan Tar A was a wonderful experience for my family. We vacationed there with our two grown sons, daughter-in-law and one year old grandson. When we first arrived in our hotel room, the room had a distinct musty smell. We looked at the air conditioner and saw significant build up on the vents. We called maintenance and someone immediately came to our […] room, cleaned and disinfected the unit. From then on the room was great. My son and daughter-in-laws adjoining room was good from the start. The resort is well kept and the staff very helpful and friendly. First of all, the property is very impressive. Stay in the resort and not the cabins, as the cabins are far away from everything. They have restaurants at the hotel but there was a Burger King/Sbarro on the premises literally across the street from us. Don't rent a boat from the resort, you can drive a couple of miles at rent it at Surdyke for less. […] The hotel is ok but really needs some freshening up. It has a weird musty smell. New carpet and new paint would probably do wonders. The room we stayed in seemed dark and cramped. The property itself was beautiful but the room was nothing to write home about. Overall it's alright but you won't want to spend much time in your room unless you're sleeping or showering. The TV was old, the old cube shaped TV, not a flat screen. The bed was fine. On the positive side there is a lot of stuff to do right there on the premises, a bowling alley, an arcade, an ice rink, and you could see the lake from the pool right outside our room. The employees seemed nice and were helpful when we had a question about something. Do a little research beforehand, there are things off premises that are often cheaper. Checking in and out was easy, and when we decided to stay a second night they went ahead and honored our promo rate we got the first night through Expedia. Overall it was ok, just don't think you're staying at a five star hotel and don't pay regular price because that's for suckers. Read more

The complex was nicely updated with the exception of a few places. We visited the largest pool next to the lake and while it was very crowded it was good. The indoor waterpark is very overpriced and it is ridiculous to charge parents a fee "to watch". The indoor water park needs updating. The Windrose restaurant experience was HORRIBLE. It took 2 hours […] to get cold food and there were about 15 people there total. The chef could be heard SCREAMING at the wait staff when they brought food back to be corrected. We stayed at Tan-tar-a for 3 days and two nights. Their were two adults and two 12 year old boys in our party. The waiter and bartender were WONDERFUL. The staff at the registration desk also went above and beyond when we had a sudden need come up. (Sampson, Jeff, and Steffanie to be specific.) Even the made was super friendly. She acted as if it annoyed her to have to talk to us when we were the only customers in the whole place. We loved the pool, the miniature golf, and the restaurants.
