"Good for half the time"
The hotel was in an excellent location for our purposes of traveling to water polo tournament games. The food was top notch at the restaurant. However the first few nights we stayed in a deluxe room which was aweful for the price. Small and old, it was not much better than a motel six room which I could have half the price. Stayed here because it is close to parent's home, but I won't stay here again. Booked a premium ocean view room with King bed, and paid a premium price - +$375 - but was told that they did not have one on arrival and were put in a room without a view, that was small and cramped. When I asked for a price adjustment, I was blown off and was offered free […] wifi for one day. Parking is $30 a day - wifi is $16.95 a day and he staff is rude. On our first night someone a few rooms away picked up the dishes from room service (at 3am) and started throwing them all down the concrete hall, breaking dishes, glasses and banging plate covers. Awakened by all the noise, I stuck my head out to see what was going on and was told VERY RUDELY and in an angry tone by a hotel staffer to "get back in my room," as if I was the problem. Unbelievable. When I told the front desk person the next morning, I asking to be moved to a new room with a view, I was offered NOTHING but a lame, "oh yeah - I heard about that." Very surprised at the condition of this hotel considering it is at Newport Beach. Booked at this hotel because of the proximity to a surgery center. Went to front desk early the morning (6:00am) of outpatient surgery and kindly requested that either I get my room cleaned early or don't come at all. Explained in great detail that I was going to be having […] a surgical procedure and did not want to be inconvenienced. The lady at front desk acted concerned and said she would tell them and not to worry. We got back to hotel at 1pm and guess what? Room not cleaned. However the maid knocked on my door and insisted on still coming in to try and tidy up. Can you imagine how uncomfortable to be laying in bed after a surgical procedure having a total stranger walk around your room cleaning up? Not happy. I don't really blame the maid I blame the ladies at the front desk who assured me they would take care of my room within the 4 hour window. Our stay was over 4th of July weekend. The hotel was extremely busy! There were a couple different weddings going on in addition to all the usual hotel guests, making it hard to get in and out of valet and the hotel in general. Our room was in the back of the property by the golf course. The room and views were nice, but getting to and from the lobby […] was a bit of a maze, we actually got lost the first couple of times. The front desk person (can't remember his name) was awesome, wonderful and amazing. He took the time to show us where the Starbucks, restaurant and the elevator to take us to our room. While inside room you can hear people and other noises. I liked the hotel but my biggest thing was the noise. I was told it was noisy because I was close to elevator... The stay was great, rooom, service, etc... We recieved excellent service particularly from the young man who checked us in and out. I planned a staycation at this hotel with my daughters for mothers day and everything was great from the food to the service with the exception of the main pool being closed. Beautiful hotel however the walls were paper thin, housekeeping was very loud in the halls @7:30am on a Sunday morning!
