The location of this hotel was perfect for our downtown Detroit stay. We ate at the Volt and 46 Degree's restaurants/lounge and found the food and prices to be good. Liked the fact that there were 3 screens for internet access right in the lounge! The concierge were very helpful in giving us some tips on where to go outside of the hotel. This hotel is confusing to get in and out of as far as parking ramps etc. because of the architecture but at the same time it is what is interesting about the hotel as well. Our room was on the 54th floor with a nice view...but our walls were thin and we ended up leaving earlier than we planned because of our "noisy" neighbors on both sides.

The Hotel is in the beautiful GM building. The rooms have a beautiful view with the most comfortable bed;however, the service was terrible. Upon check in, no one ask did we our bags taken to our room. I thought maybe, it's just too busy. The room package I purchased came with the four movie passes. During check in, the vouchers were not handed out. After checking with my other guest from the room, I learned that no one had ever mention the tickets to them, so I called. I was told after I asked to pick up the tickets at 12am. When I went to take a shower, I noticed that we only had towels for two people, so I called down to the front desk to ask for additional towels at 10am. The front desk receptionist took a deep breath and ask me to call back around 10am. When I asked the front desk clerk for her name, she responded giving her name, and then wanted to send up the towels. It's not that the hotel isn't beautiful minus the fact there is no pool or hot tub, it is the bad service that made my stay unpleasant. I sent an email of what happened to the Marriott. I have not heard from anyone other than an automated email response. I do not plan to return. There are many beautiful hotels Downtown Detroit with great service; however, I just stayed at a bad one.

The room was very basic king bed, desk, flat screen tv. Nothing that screamed upscale! We first where put on the 9th floor and the view was a little part of the water and windows of other building and a hose on top of a ledge..I called the front desk and requested a higher room with a better view..the moved us to the 17th floor which was a better waterview. Overall it was a nice hotel, but don't expect anything lavish.

The only thing that I did not like about this hotel was that you are not allowed to bring in outside beer/alcohol in a cooler. We came to town for a Country Concert at Ford Field and brought a cooler that we had to take back out to the car. If you pay that much for a room and you should be able to bring a cooler in with whatever you want in it. Other than that, our stay was very nice.

Checking in was fine. Room was good. When I called guest services to ask for some toothpaste since I had forgot mine, they told me it would be at least a half an hour to bring some to me because they were so busy. To get my car from Valet, it took 55 minutes. None of the valet people were even walking fast. A few times there were only two cars in the driveway and about a hundred people standing there waiting like I was. They could have at least acted like they were trying to hurry when they were in front of everyone. I could have parked in the parking deck across the street, saved $5.00 and got my car in a few minutes.

I stayed here after waiting in line in an unairconditioned lobby for 3 hours at the detroit riverside hotel unable to receive a room for my reservation (I arrived at 3:30pm left just before 7pm). The hotel lobby and reception was immaculate and well maintained. I was able to check in within minutes even after placing my hotels.com reservation online 15 minutes before I arrived. My room was on the 34th floor and had a great view of the river and Windsor. It seems that most rooms have full floor to ceiling windows with decent views. The bed was very comfortable and clean. The bathroom was clean, water was hot (but not extremely hot, almost a bit on the warm side) and the hotel provided quality bathroom products and towels. Television in the hotel, nice LCD screen, variety of channels including HBO. Overall room was great. Ordered room service a few times. Most servers were great, one was not really into his job even though I tipped him well he seemed "above" room service. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. Overall very happy with the room, will stay here again when in Detroit.

The hotel's location downtown is excellent with easy accessibility to the people mover as well as being within walking distance to several points of interest. The views from the rooms are incredible.

Great room with a nice view. We were there for a baseball weekend; the people mover took us within 2 blocks of Comerica Park. 37" TVs in the room were a great touch.

My family had plans to go to a Red Wings game and didn't want to drive home after the game. The Detroit Marriott has great access to the People Mover (Public Transportation Monorail). The cost is 50 cents per ride. We were able to walk from our hotel to the convenience of the People Mover without having to walk down the street. We took this transportation to and from the game. This saved on parking and we didn't have to deal with traffic too. This hotel is big and can be a little confusing with its size, but the staff was very helpful. We could access our check out on our Flat Screen TV and we saw a charge that we didn't use. The operator took the charge off without question. This alone made me want to come back again because of the service. The beds were very comfortable and linens were amazing. We slept really well. Sometimes when your at hotels you can't regulate the temperature, but our thermostat worked well. The fitness room was wonderful for our son who is a runner. The treadmills had individual TVs. The other bonus of the fitness room is that they only allow 17 year olds and up and have an attendant if you have any problems. The price of the room was a little pricey, but with the quality, service, and convenience to area attractions, I would come back again!

The view from our room is something every visitor to Detroit must see. The rooms were spotless and Arnold, The jovial guy who checked us in, went out of his way to make sure we liked our accommodations.

The hotel and service are excellent with one small exception. The bottom sheet on the bed is not large enough to fit properly so that it comes loose and crumbles up at the head of the bed.

Self contained location, food inside- shopping appears sporadic. In any event, if attending an event at the convention center down the street, it's close enough to cab or walk in nice weather down the riverfront.

The hotel was very clean and the beds were extremely comfortable. The only issue is controlling the room temperature. I froze all night waiting for a clerk to come and adjust.
