Room was very nice, unfortunately someone was smoking on our floor and every time the air turned on our room smelled like smoke. Other than that it was a great stay. Make sure you allow enough time to try to get around the hotel, that can be confusing just to find your way around the building itself!!!

I had a wonderful time at the Detroit Marriott. My boyfriend and I felt like I was rich staying there.the volt bar had great service and it was walking distance for the casino and downtown attractions. I can't wait to stay there again

We have stayed several times here and love it. We love getting one of the high floors overlooking the river with a spectaular view. Breakfast buffet was great with a cook on hand many eggs to order. I only wish they didn't move the breakfast buffet from 42 degrees North Restaurant over the the Volt which is the night time bar area. I used to love having […] breakfast and being able to look out at the river, Now all you see is surrounding buildings. Wish they would move it back. The only issue I have is that everything is so far, getting around is not easy. I'm handicapped and even if I am dropped off at the main door, the elevators up to the room is down a hallway, Then if you want to go out, either to the parking deck or from the hotel to the people mover it is a great distance, down escalators and around a catwalk and into another building and while it all in doors for someone like myself who is handicapped, and walking is very difficulty, it is not easy to get around. Two friends and myself stayed the weekend for a Saturday night Red Wings game. The hotel was great, parking was easy, staff very friendly and the room was clean and comfortable. I highly recommend staying here!

Nice Hotel and a good location. It is part of GM's headquarters and has many bars, restaurants, and a movie theater in the complex. We were there for the auto show, so staying at GM's headquarters was pretty neat.

My wife booked this room for my birthday get away we asked for a room high in the sky and they delivered!!' The river was calm and the Windsor Ceasar Place was pretty as can be day and night Greek town is 5 blocks away and walking thru the Hotel is just as fun Next time we go we will walk alone the river which you could see from our room!

Beautiful views and the building itself is wonderful. It's sometimes a little difficult to navigate with multiple floors, elevators, and escalators. The rooms were very nice and clean. I was a little disappointed with the room service, just because they were serving a limited menu the night we were there. But we did call later in the evening, so it […] was understandable. We were able to walk to Ford Field and Greektown with little difficulty. The interactive checkout menu on the tv was super convenient and easy to use. Hubby & I ended up booking a room here after having a few drinks, we didn't arrive until after 2 am but the receptionist was very polite she gave us a room on the 48th floor with a magnificent view. The only 2 things i didn't like was the fact that you had to take 2 separate elevators to get to the rooms and the elevators were around the corner n down […] the hall from one another. So it's not enjoyable after walking in 6 in heels all day. The next morning i want sure if i would make it to the second elevator :). The only other thing was the valet was a little slow in the AM.. It took 20 min to get my car, since I'm paying $20 for valet i expect a little faster service than that. Other than that thus hotel is very clean and bed was wonderful. Read more

I have stayed at this property four times over the past few years, with the most recent visit on 12-1-2012. This landmark building is certainly worth a look, although it is lacking in some areas, The configuration of the building's towers leaves the rooms semi-wedge shaped and a bit small. The property has a lackluster Fitness Area, and no pool or whirlpool. […] The self-parking is in an adjacent ramp, and priced about $20 a day. Enjoyed our stay a the Ren Cen Marriott. We arrived hours before check-in time, and we were able to check in and get our luggage to our room so that we could head to a 1 pm Lions game. I checked in the day before the Detroit Marathon due to the convenience of location to Cobo and the starting line. We left at 6am for the race and returned at 11am. The room wasn't made up, so we called down to room service to transfer our call since calling the front desk directly just resulted in no one answering. When we returned at 330p, the room […] still hadn't been done. I called again to be transferred, and they said they'd be right up. One hour later they called to say they couldn't clean the room because our Do Not Disturb sign was on the door. We told them it wasn't on the door. They argued it was. I finally said there's no way it could be on the door, because I'm holding it in my hand. I've never had to argue to get my room cleaned at a hotel before. I should have known the customer service was non-existent when we checked-in. The bellman took our bags and said he'd be right up with them, but it took 30 minutes for them to show up. We had to stand in the lobby waiting for him, because he didn't give us a ticket, nor ask our names. He had no way of knowing which room of a 59 floor hotel to deliver those bags to. Everything else in the area was booked. The room was clean but small and overpriced. The Renissance Center is so large that navigating around was difficult. Plus all the shops except Starbucks and the hotel restaurants are closed on the weekends.
